UPDATE: Back on eBay. Colin exchanged emails with the seller and learned this is a very early DJ-3A, as it is the 92nd DJ3A built in late 1955.
This is a nice DJ-3A that was found on the CJ-3B Page.

“1959 FC-170 Willy’s jeep truck, 42,717 miles. 226 Hurrican L-6 engine. 3sp transmission and 2sp transfercase. Dana 44 axles front and back. Front axle has Warn lockout hubs. Overall condition is descent for a 1959 truck. Some rust on all the normal places for this year of truck. I tried to get pictures of all areas. You will have to email me if you want to see more pics. Only am posting 4 pictures. Have 20+ to send if needed. The truck also has what looks like a bed mounted tow system in the bed, but is currently just sitting loose in bed. The sys is a elect/hyd system. Whole unit folds down into a bifold compartment. I do not have the title, but do have bill of sale.”

“You are bidding on a 1942 Slat Grill Willys mb. The serial number is MB 114517 DOD is 1/27/42 the Toe gusset # is 17920.
The Frame tag and dash data plate match.
Overall the jeep would make a great restoration project. Please take the time to go through all the pictures I’ve attempted to leave nothing out.
The jeep comes with a lot of the hard to find ORIGINAL parts such as an actual slat grill grill, Gas Gauge, 5 mph increment speedo (needs work the needle is broken), 30/30 amp guage, hinged filtertte, Rear seat, top bows, bumper, and an STL pintle.
The body is pretty straight and solid with the exception of a patch in the passenger floor board, a little rust in that passenger seam, some skimmed areas of body filler on the tub and rust out in the fuel tank sump and shovel area. The hat channels are decent but some will need a little repair. Again this is a very nice solid start (PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES IN SLIDE SHOW)
The frame is very nice and has the original bumper gussets and frame tag.
The motor does run when hot wired and the jeep rolls easy. The T84 transmission transfer all seemed to function just fine.
The motor is a bit of a mystery as the boss where the serial number should be is completely unstamped. The casting at the lower part of the engine is correct for what should be in a slat so I think it would pass a two foot test and I guess you could stamp the boss with what you want if you wanted it to pass for the actual original motor. The head is an early one with the two bolt thermostat.
I do have a number of other parts that will be included such as top bow brackets, body handles, and voltage regulator; These are all pictured in the slide show which has over 160 pics. (IF IT FAILS TO LOAD THE FIRST TIME HIT REFRESH AND if you still you still have problems let me know)
Don’t miss your chance to own this great Slat grill MB project, It has a lot of the hard and nearly impossible to find parts and a ton of potential.
I do have an open clear Idaho title from the last owner and I can put it in my name if this is any what of an issue for you.”

(07/20/2011) “1948 restored CJ2A Jeep for sale. was completely redone about 20 years ago and has been stored in a garage since then. Every summer It is driven enough to replace the gas and is started every once in a while. Good running jeep. When restored, the 4 cyl jeep engine, transmissions, and differentials were rebuild. The body was redone and painted. no rust and in excellent shape. Has 12 volt jeep generator and regulator. Has signal lights. 15″ jeep wheels with radial tires. New seat covers. when restored. ”

“For sale is a green 1948 Willys Overland CJ-2A. It has an operational PTO (power take off). It has virtually no oil drips. The Jeep starts, runs, and drives well. Transmission shifts smoothly and the 4wd system shifts in/out and works just fine. I reverted the system back to 6 volt for nostalgic purposes but the 12 volt resisters are still in place to convert it back. Tires have about 500 miles on them. This Jeep is road worthy and I have the title ready to sign over to you. It is hard to find these things in the shape she is in. I’m sad to part with it, but I bought it as a “getting out of the military gift to myself,” and now it’s time to move on to the next fun project. I can’t provide details on its history prior to my ownership, but I can give you details on every repair since I have owned it.
