Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This is a nice build. This would be worth checking out more closely. Note the upside handbrake; an unusual way to install the e-brake.
“Here are some pictures of my 1949 Willys CJ3a for sale.It has an all steel body with a fully boxed frame.The engine is a 1967 chevy 283 cu. in. bored .030 over,Crane cam,Offenhauser intake,Eldelbrock carb and Mallory ignition.Transmission is a turbo 350 with mild shift kit and is mated to a Dana 300 transfer case via an Advance adapter.Rear differential is from a 1972 Jeep Commando and is limited slip.The front differential is from a 1972 Jeep CJ5 both have 3:73 gear ratio.Front leaf spring main is a Divco truck and rear is a 3/4 ton Chevy truck , the remaining are custom cut.Exhaust is also custom built with the old style “ram horn manifolds” to a true dual with Flowmaster mufflers and exiting at the rear. Power steering,power brakes (drum all around) with a tilt-telescoping column from an Olds toronado along with the main wiring harness thru-out.Full roll cage connected to the frame and five point harness thru the baja off-road seats to the frame as well. (04/07/2009) This is certainly an unusual GPW, complete with a Ford script body. It’s apparently street legal, though I don’t see any lights on the back.
“1942 rare ford gpw script body , paint & body in excellent condition. Custom roll cage built straight to frame. Custom tube front fenders and nerf bars alum.hood . Purple and black Mastercraft seats and seatbelts. Custom 2 x 4 tube frame with 16″ stretched wheel base, now 97″. Custom 4 link rear suspension with cantilevered Walker Evans nitrogen shocks, with air bag asist. Rubicon reversed eye spring over front springs with reverse shackle and Rubicon remote reservoir shocks……”

This looks pretty nice based on this one pic. The hood looks unusual with the higher than normal ‘scoop’ in the middle.

“1947 willys m-38 flat fender jeep, 289 ford small block, 4 speed top loader 4 speed trans., dana 44 rear axle with 4.27 gears and mini spool, dana 30 close nuckle front axle open with 4.27 gears and disc brakes, duel electric fans, patronics electric ignition, bucket seats, 6 point cage, 4 point harnesses, and 35” tires. All lights and heater work great! Has full soft top with full soft doors and spare tire carrer. $3500.00 OBO may concider part trade for four stroke dirt bike!”

Small block chevy, SM465 tranny, NP205 T-Case, power steering, quick disconnect steering wheel, full cage, bucket seats, 5 point harnesses, all new wiring, new brakes, brake lines, all new axle seals, new exhaust, 37″ MTR’s, full size spare, new aluminum radiator, hoses, belts, 100amp ALT, new master cylinders, brake fluid control valve, total of 8 rock lights for night wheelin! I am selling my rig because I took a huge paycut at work and need the cash however, I am not going to give it away! I have over 12K invested in the fab work alone. This rig is one of a kind. “1949 Jeep Jeepster willys kaiser. Fully rebuilt flathead 4, all new parts. New motor. Bored .100 over. 3 speed on the tree. New gas tank, oil cooling system, battery, wiring(numbered), paint, shocks, exhaust. All lights work. Lots of extra parts. Convt top missing, but skeleton there and in ok shape. Convertible top is manual. This car runs and drives. Body is far from perfect, it has some rust and minor dents. Nice red paint on top of all of that I just mentioned.
