“1946 Willys CJ2A for sale $1,750 OBO , Rebuilt motor, New front drums, new brakes and new wheel cylinders and more , Great for Deer hunting!”
Here’s a customized Texas hunter.
“Clean Tx title from 1967. I believe this jeep has never been plated or driven on any highways due to title it was owned by a ranch. No tail lights. Starts right up every time. Original 4 cylinder.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
This hunter has a ’52 title, but a CJ-2A body. It might be a mixed bag.
“1947 Willys Hunting Jeep and transport trailer. This vehicle has a clear Texas title and is listed on the title as 1952 cj. It is a 1947 by its body design and motor. It runs good but burns a little oil. 4- wheel drive and transfer case works well.”
Here’s another custom Texas hunting jeep.
“Selling a 60’s Willys Hunting Jeep. Has back seat which is elevated and racks on the front and back with a deer feeder on the back. Runs great and makes a perfect hunting rig. Tires are foam filled so no worries of flats. Lights also work. Selling for $3500.00. Email for other info or offers.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500
This jeep has rhino liner on the interior and exterior.
“1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A in good shape. Original 4 cylinder flat head engine. I have had the body sandblasted, inside and outside…then sprayed with Rhino Bedliner, then painted. I have the windshield and various other parts. I have owned this jeep for 45 years. I can answer all of your questions on the history of the jeep. I do not “have to” sell the jeep. I think it is worth the $6500 I am asking for it. Thanks for looking.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000
(09/10/2013) Since it’s Texas, I’m going to guess that’s a hunting platform.
“CJ3A Jeep Runs with Good Tires. Rebuilt engine. $5,000 or make offer.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
This is awesome. It’s got it all.
“Willys quail rig for sale. Overall good shape for age and runs great. 4 wd works good. Dog box, high rise back seat, water tank. Serious inquires only and I don’t need any help selling her. Reply for more pics and info.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on ebay.
Designed for carrying hunting dogs and more makes this an unusual FC.
“Up for auction is this unique 1958 Jeep FC-170. This is a Forward Control model with a 3-speed manual shift. The previous owner had the rear body fabricated especially for hunting. The hunting body features upper and lower seats that still have the original protectors on them. The body was designed for transporting and running hunting dogs. It features kennels for the dogs, coolers, a water tank, and racks for holding guns. This is a well designed and built unit, with solid doors, sturdy frame, it even has cushioned armrests on the hunting seats. The upgraded front bumper features a wench. Previous owner said that the mileage shown was original.
This Jeep has currently been started up and driven a small distance. The engine sounds great and the brakes seem to be working. The headlights are also working. The wench on the front has not been tested out. This is a solid and pretty complete Jeep for a 1958. The previous owner kept it in a garage since 1976 (the last time it was registered). It does need new tires and a brake checkup, once those are done it should be ready for use.
The cab is in good shape, the floor pans are solid.”
This hunting jeep includes a water cylinder holder.
“I am selling my hunting Jeep. Its a four cylinder, 4×4 with a feeder mounted on the back and a cooler rack and water cylinder holder. It runs well and is in satisfactory condition for its age. It would be a good candidate to re-do.”
The seller labels this a 1945 Military Jeep M-38. It looks more like a non-military CJ-5. Someone went all out with the deer blind mods! Definitely one-of-a-kind!
“Today we have for sale a Military Willys M38 Jeep that was converted and used as a deer blind for hunting in south Texas.
The engine was removed after an attempt to restore the jeep but it has been left unattended for a long time. Situations in the family changed that won’t allow this to happen.

Here’s a reasonable package.
“1952 WILLYS JEEP ON 1963 CHASSIS. Over $7100.00 in receipts, at least $1,000.00 more work done without reciepts. Included are two parts jeeps. One of the parts jeeps has a clear California title on a rolling frame. The other parts jeep is just for body parts. The engine in the jeep now is from the parts jeep. It runs and you can drive it but it is not street legal. Not inspected. It needs turn signals and brake lights. The engine from the original jeep has been completely rebuilt bored .030 over. I’m just waiting on the new water pump to arrive to complete this rebuilt engine. The new engine has been test run. New upolstery, paint, rebuilt transmission, etc. The tires are like new, including the spare. It is registered until 2014. I have a clear blue title in my name. There is enough spares to build a complete second jeep. The engine is a Jeep 230 tornado. 4 wheel drive. The body has been modified to make a good hunting jeep. One of the parts jeeps in the pictures has all the wood parts removed and is now a rolling chassis with transmission. Located in San Leon TX close to Kemah and Bacliff on Galveston Bay. Open to trades. Would like a pickup or older Suburban . But let me know what you have. If you see this ad they are still for sale. $3,500.00 for all 3 jeeps.
UPDATE: II: Thie Buick shown below was featured in the Jan 1950 issue of Popular Science (pg 99)
UPDATE: Javier provided the following information. I guess there was some competition among the ranches? Below are two photos of other hunting vehicles.
He wrote, This is very similiar to one of the hunting cars used on the King Ranch. The Kenndy Ranch mentioned in the arcticle is adajcent to the King Ranch. Below is a picture of the car made for the King Ranch. (From this link to the University of Texas)
Here’s the hunting wagon from Texas featured on eWillys a couple years ago (seems I’ve deleted the original post related to it:
============
David Silberman forwarded this unusual photo from a rare April 1951 issue of Willys Salesbuilder. This one looks like it might have been build on a Jeepster platform.
From this same issue are these two parade float photos:
Is that a hunting platform on top?
“1946 willys jeep cj2a. Runs great all original garage kept. Must see”
That’s a hunting seat in the rear.
“1948 willys jeep.Does not run!No Title. The engine was rebuilt then transmission went out and has been sitting for a few years. Wouldn’t take much to get back running. With that tall rear seat, it has to be from Texas.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $2850.
(03/30/2013) Walter spotted this jeep. There is nothing to suggest this is a ’45. The body looks pretty rough.

This is an older post first published April 13, 2010:
I was surfing the net looking for a jeep drawing and, instead, came across an interesting 1963 hunting wagon on a blog hosted by Local Motors. I had not heard of Local Motors, but this company describes itself (in the about section) as a ‘New American Car’ company that builds cars in regional Micro-Factories.
The blog contained both a video about 1963 Willys Wagon and a still picture (see the video below). If you like those Texas hunting vehicles, go to this link and check out some of the crazy non-jeep hunters down the right side of the page, such as the suburban hunter.
UPDATE: Was $1500. **SOLD**
It includes a huge hunting stand that sits atop the jeep.
“Willys hunting jeep, runs good. Comes with a stand that mounts on top”
