Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The models covered in the pages below are the Koenig Standard Hardtops 530 Full and 53 Half for the CJ-5 and Models 630 Full and 535 Half with adapters No. 3863 for CJ-6 Jeeps.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Bill, the newest owner, believes this was a 1948 CJ-2A.
I think I’ve seen this hardtop, but can’t place it.

“GARAGE KEPT UNTIL A YEAR AGO UNDER TARP MOST LAST YEAR. EVERYTHING WAS FULLY FUNCTIONING AS OF LAST YEAR WHEN LAST STARTED. MOTOR, TRANSMISSION AND 4-WHEEL UNIT ALL FUNCTIONAL AS OF A YEAR AGO. HAVE NOT TRIED TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT IN LAST YEAR. HAS BEEN CONVERTED TO A 12-VOLT SYSTEM AND NEEDS A STARTER. HARD TOP, SEATS NO CUSHIONS. CAN BE SEEN IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY BY APPOINTMENT.”
Listed as a 1942, the serial number puts this as an early 1944 GPW. It has a CJ grille.

“This is an all original 1942 Military Jeep with winter hard top. I am second owner and was told it was originally shipped in crate and assembled by first owner. It has the original 4 cyl motor, 3 spd transmission, and 2 speed transfer case. It is 6 volt and wiring will need to be redone. It is 99% complete and has very little rust. The gas tank is missing. It is a candidate for a full on restoration”
