This may have potential. That appears to be a Kelly Bonanza III hardtop.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500.

(11/04/2019) This jeep looks to have a Worman Jee-Cab.

“This is a 1947 Willys CJ2A jeep for parts. Serial # 138877. Frame appears to be solid, front horns are in great shape; The T-90 transmission is stuck and the L134 engine turns by hand; front floor is toast, hood is good. It has a rare Worman Jee-Cab (will need some repair) It does roll. I’ll throw in the fenders and radiator for an extra $150. Has a nice bumper too, $50..”

CJ-5 & Snow Plow Livingston Manor, NY **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $300.

Mike spotted this ‘free’ jeep with a $300 snow plow. Looks like a good deal. The Meyer top alone makes this a good price.

“Snow plow for Jeep. Simple but works. Comes with FREE JEEP. It ran when I parked it. Has a flat head 4cyl engine.”

Gauges do not work. I think it has a Kelly hardtop?

“Mostly original – 4cyl hurricane engine, 3 spd transmission, front lock/unlock hubs, 6V, minimal rust. HARD TOP with glass in-tact. Matching spare wheel. Engine bay reasonably clean, engine and drive train needs solid cleaning. Runs well and starts every time.

I bought this as project sight unseen. Was going to resto-mod it but I can’t bring myself to hack into and part out something this original. It is truly great condition considering its age. Last owner put $1500+ into normal repairs back in May of 2019. I had it shipped out here and have slowly been poking around at it but have not started doing anything major.

Details: Gauges not working, 6 volt (although new battery), wiring has had a few things added but it is mostly original. Tires hold air but are not road-worthy. 26485 on the ODO but it isn’t working. This is a perfect Willys for someone looking for a super vintage restoration.

Currently clean titled in Colorado. Pink slip in hand. Asking $9000 OBO. Also interested in trades for other Willys / Jeep / etc. If you are at all interested please send me an email. I have a few Jeep projects underway so I’m looking to make a deal!”

Supposed to have a rear PTO, but I don’t see it on the back? It’s got an L-head rather than an f-head.

Hardtop Indio, CA $350

• CATEGORIES: Parts • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This may be a Koenig hardtop. A few had the flat back like this. It also looks very similar to a Lambert top, but those tops had smaller rear windows. Oddly, it seems like the passenger side of the top near the passenger door area has been trimmed. I would ask for passenger side pics of this one before going to see it.

Koenig Hardtop Brochures

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Thanks to Dave, we have some additional Koenig history:

“The son of the founder built the company up into a successful business making winches, “truck bodies”, and other stuff. His name was Herbert Koenig and he died in 2011 at age 95. An obit mentions that Koenig Iron Works (of Houston) was sold in 1978, and is now known as “RKI” and makes truck equipment (in Houston). They are RKI-US.com. Nothing indicates they care about Jeeps anymore!

Also, a Danish guy seems to have a website named Koenigwinches.com and it seems he makes parts for Koenig winches.”

Original Post November 2019:

koenig-hardtop-3-datatag

This is a good example of simple post that spun out of control. Initially, I wanted to look at some changes in Koenig’s CJ-5 hardtop model numbers over the years; But, that then expanded to a look at twenty years (or so) of brochures.

THE EARLY YEARS:

The timeline of the early Koenig brochures are pretty easy to identify based on the jeeps used. In later years, Koenig began using numbered ‘bulletins’ to identify brochures. At first, I thought the numbered bulletins should be ordered by ascending number, but after closer examination, I the later two digits of each bulletin number reflect the year of the brochure. As you will see, other brochure elements back this theory.

Before we start, you can find installation instructions for some Koenig hardtops here.

The earliest Koenig brochure I can find was published in an early Willys-Overland Equipment brochure (1949?). The models consisted of “Full Cab” and “Half Cab”. This brochure was included among a surprisingly large number of hardtop competitors’ brochures, including Worman tops, CarsonCraft tops, Boston Top tops, Sturdee tops, Porter & Reed tops, Body V7 Works tops, Blue Star tops, Lambert tops, Hills Custom Built tops and Meyers tops (which became sears tops and a company that was different from the one that produced later Meyer tops).

This brochure circa 1949 showed half and full cabs on a CJ-3A:
