Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Jeep is in need of a restoration. Engine is not running. Vehicle has been stored inside for the last 60 years. Steel top with side and rear doors. Tow bar available but not attached to vehicle. Originally used as a tug to move a DC-3 into its hanger. Later used for forestry work.”
UPDATE II: Here is a color version of the CJ-5 w/hardtop that appears in the brochure below. I found this on Flickr. One commenter there noted that, “Reinforced Plastics Corporation was in operation on Martha’s Vineyard from 1952 to 1959. They made these tops as well as other fiberglass items.”

UPDATE from October 26, 2017: Here’s another one of these rare brochures for sale. Thanks to Bill Norris and Derek Redmond for the extra pics. This brochure has been for sale on the same eBay pager for four years. It’s on sale at the moment.
This unusual fiberglass hardtop was created by the Reinforced Plastics Corp. I have yet to see one in the wild. Two journal articles (Chemical Week 1957, Volume 81 and National Defense Transportation Journal 1957, Volumes 13-14) both have announcements for the new top, pegging its inception around mid-1957. Unfortunately, Google will only provide snipped views of these University of Michigan scanned journals. The date of these journals suggests the lister of this brochure is probably wrong about the 1955 date for the brochure.

The front axle is not installed. It has a Keonig hardtop.

This has “dual hub extensions”, which is why the front end axle and wheels look extra wide.

Engine spins freely, I have not had it running in my time owning it. No title. I got it from an Iron Mine in Michigan. Too many projects, clearing yard,”
John shared this MB with an unusual top. The doors have wood trip and are suicide style. The rear doors also have some wood and are cargo style.

“This listing is for a 1940s Willys WWII Jeep. It is in non-running condition and being sold as-is. It is complete with a wooden and metal cab. There are some holes due to deterioration (rust) in the floor. The center of the rear of the jeep was removed to accommodate the double doors of the cab.This Jeep has been stored in a barn untouched for the past 60 years. It is either a 1944 or 1945. The center of the read of the jeep was removed to accommodate the double doors of the cab. Buyer is responsible for removing and transporting the vehicle after the transaction has been completed.”
This is a 1959 or later CJ-3B (Note the side heater vent). Thanks to Andy for sharing it. It may be an optical illusion, but it looks like the top kind of angles down near the rear passenger lower edge. Maybe this is a CJ-3B that used to have a baggage ramp? (Prob not, but …)
