Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Tim shared this pic on Facebook (not for sale). It shows a jeep with a DJ-3A body and, possibly, a CJ-5 hardtop, both with a custom extension, atop a four wheel drive chassis. He plans to talk to the owner to learn more about it.
The Jeepsterman announced he will being selling a new bed extension soon.

We’ve discussed the Transport Motor Company, out of California, a few times. Clint reminded me that Farmjeep.com published a wonderful overview document of the TMC Farm and Industrial Equipment. Clint added his thoughts about the equipment in a comment at the bottom of this post.

What caught my eye was TMCs body extension, a full-width body extension that attached to the back of vintage jeeps. I’ve documented the extension several times, but didn’t know what company made it. It turns out, some of those full-body extensions are from TMC. (here is my compendium of document 1/4 extensions)

(12/04/2023) This appears to have an extra shift lever (probably an overdrive). It also has a Koenig bed extender and a Sears-style half-cab. There could be some value here.

This has potential. The stock hardtop and Koenig (?) bed extension look in good shape. The 0-8 King Seeley speedometer still has its needle, too.

Extras on this jeep include a Warn OD, Warn/Bellevierw winch, Koenig body extension and Willys (branded?) spotlight.
“$7,000 O.B.O. 1960 Jeep CJ3B. VERY solid and clean for the year. Hat channels are corroded but tub is solid. Frame is solid as can be. Period correct: WARN OVERDRIVE!!!, WARN BELLEVIEW WINCH, WILLYS SPOTLIGHT, KOENIG BODY EXTENSION. Runs and drives great. Cranks up every time. Can drive anywhere. 4X4 works great. Gets more attention than anything else on the road. Good condition Firestone 6.0X16 tires. CLEAR TITLE. Everything works except speed indicator(odometer does work) fuel and temp gauge and rear running lights(brake lights work).
Lots of new parts: Distributor, Carburetor, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Spare Tire, Muffler, Starter Solenoid, Bikini Top, FULL COMPLETE TOP BOW KIT($700), BRAND NEW 12V WIPER KIT(not installed), Air Tube, Oil Filter. ALL FLUIDS CHANGED, ALL DRIVE FLUIDS CHANGED WITH CORRECT GREEN METAL SAFE GEAR OIL($400 job).
The tub sides have been “overlapped” from the doors back, but the original tub is good. I believe this was done for strengthening as tub is solid”
This looks like a good price. The steps have been patched. Note it has a bed extender, half-cab, Koenig half-cab, and a middle seat (most likely a Dumas seat).

“1954 Jeep CJ3B Runs and drives great. Steel cab with roll-up glass windows. Rare box extension. Working factory heater. Carb and distributor are new. “1947 Willy’s jeep! It has the original drivetrain in it. Flathead 4 cylinder with a manual transmission and t-case. It ran great until it spun a main bearing last spring so it doesn’t run now and I don’t have the time to get it there at the moment. I don’t need to sell it but would rather have someone fix it then it just sit. It comes with an extra hood, grill, bed extension, half cab, transfer case, one spare wheel, and some other parts like a front bumper.

(05/02/2022) Listed as a 1944, this appears to be a 2A based solely on the transmission cross member sitting in the back of the jeep. This also has an extended rear, which isn’t seen often on a 2A. It might make an interesting project.

This is Koenig bulletin #156, one that I finally purchased and scanned. This brochure marked a change in model numbers from Koenig’s 1955 brochure; the “-5″s were eliminated in favor of individual hardtop numbers (which I imagine was easier for consumers to understand).
