This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It’s listed as a 1948, it’s got indents. It could be a VEC. That may be a CJ-5 halftop.

UPDATE: The price has been dropped to $9000. I swear there was a serial number of 34043 listed, but if it was there, it is no longer there now.
The serial number of 34043 is a bit late for indents. Given the flat plate over the tranny, this may have been a column shift.

Travis shared this one. It includes a variety of replacement body panels.
“For sale 1946 Willys CJ2A . This is an early version with a column shift transmission and military MB tool indents. Has been in storage for many years and is indeed of restoration. This Jeep is in original condition and will be sold with body replacement panels shown in the pics. All body panels were made in Maine at Jeep Parts Plus and not over seas. These early Jeeps have developed a following and like many other small 4x4s are becoming very desirable and hard to find.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
It’s a column shift with indents (top indent at least) so likely a VEC CJ-2A. Body is rough, though has been patched in places. You don’t often see just one part time hub. I’d check to make sure the left front axle and/or front R&P doesn’t have some issue.
“I was told by the heirs that this was a 1948 Willys Jeep, I do not have a title, so I am unsure , there is a long number on the engine, that could lend a clue. This is a 3 speed standard trans, on the column, with two shift levers on the floor, it rolls easy, and the linkage is all free to the trans and transfer case. The odometer reads 38k miles, what you see is what I have, there are no extra parts, engine is complete, radiator and all parts in engine compartment intact.
Serious only, I’m sure the parts are hard to find for this vintage , possibly a 1947 Willys Jeep, Convertible,
the frame is good, rears are complete, and has locking hub on the front left wheel , under the paint is was a medium green when new.”

This was the seller’s father’s jeep and he admits he doesn’t know a lot about it. Seller seems convinced it’s a WWII jeep. It is a nice example of an early 2A jeep, though strangely it doesn’t have tool indents (#24566)

• CA registered 1946 license plate.
• Runs and drives great. Gauges work, lights works, hubs lock.

This has an early windshield. It also has a floor shift, though the pics don’t show if it was once a column shift or not.
“This is a very very early civilian jeep, perhaps the very first few that rolled off after the war as it still has the MB body. Originally came with the rare column shift but later converted to stick on floor. All original drive train. Starts right up but needs restoration. Body is very solid with some bondo. Original Arizona vehicle last licensed in 1970. A great project that can be worth getting into. Serious enthusiasts only please.”
