UPDATE: This sold for $6250 on eBay.
Dave’s selling his low mileage, stock CJ-5 Trencher. This will make a great vehicle for someone. I got a chance to look at this during our trip this past summer. It was a bit dustier then.
“I’ve been chasing Jeep vehicles for several decades and this is the nicest, lowest mileage, most original Jeep I’ve ever run across – especially considering that is will be FIFTY years old next year!
If you can find a 1964 CJ-5 with fewer miles, more original, and with more factory options on it – then buy it and not this one…
This Jeep was originally purchased by a local Steel company for the sole purpose of installing a sprinkler system in a golf course that they owned. I was told that oncethat task was completed it pretty much simply just stayed in the company garage of vehicles being
driven occaisionally and inspected each year! I’ve owned it for probably fifteen or twenty years now and am not able to enjoy it as I should be doing so its time to find it a new home. As the new owner, you’ll be only the third owner of this FIFTY year old Jeep and “Bubba” never had his hands on this one to mess it all up!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** was listed at $2500.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
This sounds like a ‘ran when parked’ situation.
“1953 willys jeep w/ factory jeep-a-trench attachment, motor I
is seized, blade on front of it, original willys tailgate and hood, we have a Missouri title for it, the jeep and trencher used to work if interested, have more pictures”
I was looking through some pictures related to this post and spotted this CJ-3A with a Jeep-a-Trench and snow plow in a wrecking yard in Santa Rosa, CA. I don’t know if it is for sale, but it might be. It’s no wonder the back tires are flat!
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was listed at $4500.
Mike has this early Jeep-A-Trench for sale. It is complete and works. It is Model 103 Serial number #785.”
This poor MB/GPW has seen some tough duty!
“What a neat outfix,I turned the motor by hand, levers work on the trencher, will not find many of these. The glovebox has 3 brass tags on it could not get a good picture.Thank you”
This is a slightly different Go-For-Digger Brochure than I’ve seen. Here the two others I’ve seen: a blue version and a green version.
“A 4 page 3 hole punched Go For Digger Trenching Machine Brochure. Catalog number 8162. In fine condition. With photos, specifications and more. Circa 1960’s”
I found this ad in what I think was a business directory of some kind. It looks like someone used their CJ-3B and their jeep-a-trench to make money. To get the logo removed from the image, you have to purchase the full resolution version from Historicalmapworks.com.
UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**
There were many variations of Auburn’s Jeep-A-Trench. This list shows pricing, width, and depth options.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
Here’s another type of trencher. Go-For-Digger also made also made back hoes (see bottom image).
“N.O.S. & O.E.M., KAISER, JEEP, CJ5 UNIVERSAL, “GO-FOR-DIGGER”, “TRENCHER”,
SALES AD-(2-SIDED & COLORED, ON BOTH SIDES)-BROCHURE. KAISER JEEP OFFERED: SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, ATTACHMENT OPTIONS, FOR KAISER JEEP CJ5 UNIVERSAL’S.”
Here is an example of the go-for-digger backhoe:
This runs and drives with an operating trencher and sports duallies.
“1958 CJ 5 Willys Jeep with a trencher attachment that was factory made for jeeps back before the industry started making trenchers for smaller jobs.
Back then it was either a shovel and pick or large diggers. This trencher fit the bill for the smaller jobs.
This unit is in complete working order and runs great. The odometer reads 4400 miles and I believe it.
The Huricane-4 motor runs smooth and does not smoke.
Also has duals on the back that are made for jeep and never seen one of these with a cab.
Price is OBO at $6500.00 Please only serouis inquirers. 314-952-two nine 61”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $350.
Philip forwarded this. I’m try to get my brain around this, but I can’t quite picture a trencher here.
“Willeys jeep trencher. Seems to all be there. $350.00”
UPDATE: Sold. Was on eBay.
John pointed this out. It includes a video.
“A rare, working, 1952 Willys Jeep CJ2A with an Auburn Jeep-A-Trench trencher. It will dig a trench 6″ wide and 46″ maximum depth. The trencher was made in Auburn, Nebraska by a company that is still in existence today. I have used this trencher 3-4 times a year for the past 6 years. It has been kept in a barn, each time I just put battery in it and it is ready to go. I have used it for installing water lines, electrical lines, drainage tile and rain water downspouts. It was previously owned by a local plumber. It is simple to use and once digging is started you just stand back and watch it work. It runs great and has not overheated in our hot and humid Kansas summers. Brakes are soft and steering is stiff but you’re really not going to drive it any distance anyway. It is self propelled via creeper gears and the digging outrigger can be raised and lowered via an electric motor. All of the standard Jeep CJ2A features are still retained. It was converted to 12 volt then the trencher unit was added at the factory along with a Governor to regulate engine speed, a PTO unit, an additional drive shaft, heavy springs and frame stiffeners. Exact mileage unknown, but it can’t be to high because the trencher has been on it since day one. Comes with spare parts including extra trencher teeth and chain links and owner guide. Have a clear title. Sold AS IS, no warranty. Also for sale locally. I will not deliver. If you arrange shipping I will assist with loading. Deposit payment of $500 via PayPal within 24 hours of auction ending. Balance of payment will be cashiers check or cash. Cashiers check must clear to be paid in full prior to shipping or removal from sellers location.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500
The body appears a little rustier than the seller describes. There appears to be value here.
“This is a CJ3A Jeep with a factory made trencher. Jeep is solid and body is good for restore. Has been stored for many years. Will sell for $1500 or may trade for ????”
I wouldn’t describe this as “an easy project”, but there’s plenty here with which to work.
“this is an extremely rare and desirable cj2a with the “Jeep A Trench” option,it is complete but will need full restoration ,the trencher attachment is in very good condition and seems to have been used very little ,the engine is complete and unaltered ,it does turn nd was running when parked but again this will need to be restored. it also has the rare dual wheel option with reverse disc wheels in the front.this is an easy project wince it is mostly complete , it has sat for many years until a shed deteriorated so it has weathered quite a lot.
I havent the time of funds to restore so am selling to the high bidder ,there is no title but will come with bill of sale.unit must me picked up in ky zip 40051. I will be happy to take any pics or answer any questions .{misfit41@aol.com} 270 272 3660 ,thanks,Tim”
I can’t see much from the pics.
“Willys Jeep-A-Trench. 4 cyl. flathead w/3 speed trans. 4 wheel drive. Restorable. Have Ohio title for it. If interested make offer. I have no idea what its worth but I am sure you could sell the trencher off the back to a collector and restore the Jeep. Thanks”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
“This is a real classic, early 40’s jeep with a Jeep-a-trench,nobody around here has never seen one,I turn the engine over by hand, the estate it came from he trenched there water lines, all the levers work.I think it is really unusally. The only other on e-bay is $5500 without the jeep it is very rare.Thank you I have drop the price $500 will also consider offers this is for sale.I am droping the price another $500.Thank you”
The serial number suggests this is a ’59 rather than a ’71 or ’72 (http://www.jeeptech.com/models/cj-5.htm).
“1971 OR 72 JEEP WITH A PLOW AND TRENCHER. THE TRENCHER IS MADE BY JEEP A TRENCH GEAR HYDROLIC MODEL GW103 SERIAL #2817. THE PLOW AND TRENCHER IS IS GREAT SHAPE AND WORKS GOOD.
