Merry Christmas Everyone
Well, I thought I’d have time Christmas Eve night to post some jeeps, but we got very busy. I’ll post this for now (Thanks Charles) and take Christmas day off.
Merry Christmas FC
You Can Tell it’s Christmas Time in Canada When . . .
It’s Christmas time in Canada when Lawrence dresses up himself, his dogs and his automobiles to deliver Christmas presents. This year there’s a new addition to the group: a beautiful FC-150. The native red of the FC just seems perfect this time of year.

JJ spotted Santa driving a jeep in this ad by Walk Kelly from 1942. You can find more Walt Kelly illustrations where JJ found this one at The Golden Age.

Bill’s Holiday DJ
Bill, did my meager decorating of Biscuit inspire you? I think the gold trim works better on your DJ.
Happy Holidays!
Poor Biscuit has been run so little this year that we had to get him a new battery for xmas. That perked him right up! We took him for a spin between rain showers and snapped some pics. There might be some updates on Christmas day . . . or there might not be.
Intermittent Updates for the next week
The kids are in town for Christmas, so updates will be intermittent.
My sister forwarded this picture of her chickens celebrating the holidays.
Seasons Greetings from Canada
The holiday spirit seems to have overtaken Lawrence and his 1929 Willys Overland Whippet. Lawrence hails from West Vancouver, BC, Canada. I guess they take the holidays pretty seriously up there. This picture shows them getting ready to deliver Christmas eve presents in style. And here, I thought he got the Whippet all dressed up just to land at the top of eWillys! Lawrence is also the soon-to-be owner of FC-150.
Christmas and Holiday Cards from Roberto Flores
Below is one of Robert’s holiday cards. You can see all his holiday cards here and check out other items by him at zazzle.com.
Hallmark Jeep Ornament
Rob forwarded me a pic of his Hallmark jeep ornament. I found one just like it on eBay.
If you have an interesting jeep ornament, take a picture of it and send it to me (d@ewillys.com)
Bill Visits the Fantastic Caverns
UPDATE: Learn more about the green jeep in the comments section.
Upon learning about the jeep at the Fantastic Cavern’s Visitor Center in Springfield, Missouri, Bill had to see it for himself. Fortunately for us, he took along his camera. Since Friday is the official start of the Christmas season, even though ‘Black Friday’ has now leaked into the evening of ‘Turkey, Christmas presents in the back of jeep just seemed a perfect way to launch the season (for us Willys nuts anyway).
Here’s photos of the original jeep. Bill was told it was a CJ-2A, but it seemed more 3A to him.
Here are some pics of the new propane fueled jeeps:
Carved Pumpkin Jeeps
For those who haven’t carved your pumpkins yet, I found a few ideas below. We (and by we I mean Ann did all the work) grew our own pumpkins this year, so if we make time for carving them we will try something with a jeep flair.
Kaiser Willys is having a Jeep Pumpkin Carving contest with a $25 gift certificate as the prize. Go to their facebook page to learn more. The pic below is from the Kaiser Willys Facebook page.
Here’s another carved pumpkin for those that can’t identify what the shapes represent:
Here is a different take on a jeep pumpkin that I found here.
Here is a stencil you can use to carve your own pumpkin. Well, it’s a small size version of the stencil. The original stencil seems to be gone. If you click here, you can use a version of this pic that I have blown up (maybe it will work?).
And then there is this painting of a jeep amongst pumpkins by Daphne Wynne Nixon.
Here are a few other links to carvings:
December 1947 Unity Magazine Cover
Colin forwarded this wonderful cover from the December 1947 issue of Unity Magazine, a Willys Overland Magazine.
Coling writes, “The cover shows a small girl, actually the daughter of the magazine editor, holding an Al-Toy Jeep truck and just below it, the box it came in. The Jeep truck was to the best of our knowledge, the Christmas toy for the Willys VIPs and high volume dealers for 1947.”
Johnny Cash’s 1975 Christmas Album
Sebastian spotted the cover of this 1975 Johnny Cash Album. That red jeep looks very similar to the one in the pictures from last month.
Merry Christmas
Bill forwarded this great picture of his wagon in front of someone’s light show (his possibly?). Thanks Bill.
I hope every enjoys their Christmas and has a Happy New Year!
