“2 Wheel, 1/2 Ton Airborne was manufactured during WW II by Converto Manufacturing Company. It was designed for use with jeeps and light trucks for hauling tools, equipment, and other supplies in support of Airborne Engineer operations. This trailer was distinguished by having the ability to tilt and dump its contents through a rear tailgate.
the condtion of the dump trailer is in mint condition there’s a couple rusty parts on it but not bad for being over 70yrs plus. it works perfectly..no paperwork.”

Call text emailI just brought home last night so I’ll clean up and get more pics later but this gives you a idea. It has rear cooler with fan and water pump, and all your basic common set ups for a vehicle like this. I was hoping it was more road ready but the starter is dragging bad and heating up so I need to put one in. The breaks need juiced and bled from sitting. The carb seams stuck but I have only just started messing with it. It’s sat for years but my buddy assured me it was running 6 months ago. So with all that said if it’s of interest to you make a offer I have a yard full of projects I’d rather turn it and burn it!!!!!”
I made an puzzling discovery about bell cranks the other day. I ordered a rebuild kit for Rusty’s bell crank. When I began assembling it, I discovered the original and new bolts were different. So, I had to use my old bolt (which fortunately was in good shape). Going back online, all the bell crank rebuild kits show the left hand bolt below (anyone need a new bolt .. I don’t). Do any other jeeps use the shorter bolt in their bell cranks?
Both of the DJ-3As have the same setup. The bolts they use lack an indent (used to secure the bolt to the bell crank mount). They are slightly shorter and 1/16th larger in diameter than the replacement crank. The DJ bolt lacks the hole at the end.
Here it is reassembled. The horizontal bolt clamps the unit together, but does not anchor the bolt.
One unique feature that came with Patterson is this foot pump activated windshield sprayer. This is how the bag looked when we bought it. The top was corroded and the bag was empty and dirty. You can see the hose running from the top to the firewall.
Under the dash, the hose ran to the pump.
Here’s the whole system after the parts were cleaned up.
Unfortunately, the rubber on the pump isn’t any good. I found an NOS food pump on eBay that’s affordable, but would love to find the same pump again. Continue reading

(04/25/2017) Has a rear PTO. Needs some works, but runs and drives.
“Early production (or so I am told) CJ2A Jeep, has a power take off (PTO) on it too! 3 speed stick, 4 wheel drive hi/low range. It runs! It drives! It stops! That is about it though… It carries heavy “patina” on the body/tub which is to say it is very rusty-you can see the ground through the floor… Could be the basis for some sort of crawler project. Certainly could be restored as it appears that any part you want is available either used or new /reproduction, even complete bodies can be had. Depends on how much money you want to spend. I have done the following: new soft brake lines, new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new radiator hoses, thermostat, radiator cap, spark plug wires. It is not street legal at this time primarily because none of the lights work. With some brake lights and new tires you could drive it as it is I think. If you want something to bomb around on your own property you wouldn’t have to do a thing. One should not think about trying to drive it home in it’s current state, should be trailered. Comes with two extra sets of axles/differentials and a set of extra leaf springs too. I have the original selectmatic locking hubs and it has vintage Warn locking hubs on it now.’
UPDATE: Price dropped to $4500.

“1948 Willy Jeep
Price: $9999.99 (You know…$10,000 and I give you change)
Very nice toy. I have rebuilt it about 95% “original” with only slight “modern” aspects. Runs and looks good, but NOT a museum piece. This is a “runner”.
This unit was issued civilian, but I chose to rebuild it as military.
I just don’t have time to play with it much anymore. Funny how work gets in the way of…. Fun?
Let me know if you would like to have a look.
NO checks, money orders or “sad stories”. Cash only.
Drop me an email.”
