“Ran about 5 years ago, never registered it and I lost the registration for it but should be easy enough to get again. I’ve got a transferable registration from a 55 Willys if you feel like going that route.
It’s a 3spd manual 4×4 jeep fc170 with a hurricane strait 6 and plow. Has the normal wear and tear for an fc170, has some serious rust in the cab corners and drivers side door but other than that it’s a pretty strait and solid vehicle. Floor pans are pretty good, rockers and rain guards could use some attention. All glass is good, frame is spot on.”

The King Family’s 2017 Sweetwater Run

Jason writes, “This past Saturday the King family held our 7th Annual Sweetwater Run Jeep Rally in beautiful Parke County, Indiana (Covered Bridge Capital of the World). Family members came from as far away as Minnesota and Missouri to enjoy this yearly event.

Some of the older jeeps attending this year . . .

The morning started off with a timed run on a pre-determined 10-mile route planned out by the hosts of the rally in their 46’ CJ2A some weeks earlier. The plan was for each of the 8 Jeeps to leave 5 minutes apart with at least a driver and navigator. Each navigator had a copy of the mapped route and was responsible for keeping the time clock for their respective vehicle. The the Jeep closest to the official time clocked by the hosts of the rally received a first place prize box full of moon pies. The timed event was enjoyed by all and should continue for years to come.

The timed event was followed by a wonderful cookout on a new Jeep fire pit made by my brother-in-law (he takes orders if anyone is interested). Shortly after the cookout we travelled east through Rockville to Bridgeton passing a few covered bridges along the way, stopped for ice cream and proceeded on to Mansfield Covered Bridge before returning home. 1945 VEC CJ-2A Norman, OK Status Unknown

It’s a project.

“This is referred to as a Very Early CJ (VEC) Jeep. Serial number 10391, it was the 391st CJ ever made. Probably produced the second or third day they made CJ’s. (they started at serial number 10001 and they only made about 1800 of these 1945 model CJ’s.) It is partly disassembled and all the parts are there. The engine and trans are replacements. the original shifter was on the steering column and it has been replaced with floor shift. The motor does turn over and they sealed it up when they took some of the parts off, so it is not full of dirt dobbers and rust, probably rebuildable. The floor has rust holes around the reinforcement channels as is normal with these jeeps. Replacement parts are readily available. The other parts of the body are in good shape. Front fenders are very smooth, hood is straight and stiff, has the original windshield rests on it. Grill is excellent. Tub has side indents for shovel and pick, like war jeeps. Has the original Power Take Off on the rear with all shafts and shifter in place. 6-Volt starter and generator. one 6v wiper for driver side, manual for rider. Harrison Heater. Selectro locking hubs. full floating rear axle, like a war jeep. Tailgate is good. gas tank looks good. Side mount spare carrier is gone but I can throw one in on the deal.
Also included is a new draw bar for the rear and a replacement front bumper.
This would make a great tribute jeep in military style or a nice jeep CJ show/parade car. Or, put a 302 in it, lift it and put big tires on it and go to the river. or do a little brush hogging with the PTO attachment.”

“COMING OUT OF WINTER STORAGE SOON . This is a very well preserved and solid unrestored vehicle that appears to have spent most of it’s life in the South. It has new springs, shocks and wiring making it a solid feeling and comfortable driver. The stock 4 cylinder engine is quiet and smooth running. There are chips and scratches in an older repaint, showing natural patina for it’s age.

If you know these vehicles you know there are a number of places they commonly rusted; floors, rockers, tailgate, tailgate hinges and around the rear wheel wells. All these areas are unusually rust free except for a small patch under your heel at the accelerator. Also, there is an unusual rust line in the back just under the roof gutter due to a hole in the gutter. Been assured by two body men this is an easy simple fix. “For sale is a 1946 CJ-2A Jeep S/N 64484. Jeep is in running condition and is used as an aircraft tug on a daily basis. It is a 1946 so there are many things wrong with it.
Some of the items to note are:
– rust throughout jeep
-lights throughout are intermittent in operation or not working
– no gas cap
– engine burns oil
– brakes seem stiff
– needs tires
