Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This photo makes it clear that the US was aware of the use of Chinese as “Comfort Women” early on in the war.

Burma With prisoners captured by British and Indian troops in south east Asia Command in Burma’s Wenwegon area along Toungoo Pegu road were Chinese girls taken into captivity at Canton and forced to act as comfort corps to Japanese soldiers.”

Body looks pretty good.
“I Have a 1943 Ford Gpw jeep. Ready for restoration. Vin number is 157845. It has a good running GPW motor. Motor vin is 99250. The transmission was changed to a T-90 at some time but it is bad (rusty inside). It still has original F-script axle assemblies and springs. Has an F-script drivers seat frame. Windshield will need new glass. The body has the usual rust issues. On the back of the body someone put new sheet metal over the body and extended it down over the rear cross member. It has 4 civilian rims with tires that hold air but are dry and cracked. Does not have a fuel tank or grill. It does not have a title but I ran the vin through MVD and it has never been registered or titled so it will be simple to get a bonded title. Or use it for parts.”
Looks in good shape.

“2 Willys Jeep.
This is a project I’ve been working on for awhile. It has a Saginaw steering conversion, newer overhead cam motor, good tires, all new brakes, seats, fuel tank, new little Holley carburetor, new electronic distributor, 12V alt, new exhaust.
Has the usual jeep body dents. It runs and drives and still needs a couple things. Call for more info.”

“This 1961 jeep was a father son project, the son did most of the work, I helped out a little, it took three years, spent over $20,000. And I have the receipts, frame off, bead blasted, sealed, primed, body work done and painted. The engine was rebuilt by a professional shop, new crank, pistons etc. the transmission and rear differential were also rebuilt, new everything, wiring, radiator, carburetor, exhaust, tires, brakes and lines, new gas tank and lines, wheels and a lot more stuff was powder coated. The new windshield was broken, we can furnish or deduct from the price. The jeep has only about 20 miles on it! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask!”

A Camp Carson scouting party on Christmas reconnaissance, tracked down Santa Claus, bouncing along a mountain trail using a jeep instead of good, old “Bunder,” “Blitzen,” and the rest of his traditional outfit. He told the soldiers that he was taking his new rig on a “shakedown cruise” and fount it would do the job very well. Santa forecasted a big Christmas for everybody—especially the boys at Camp Carson. Photo measures 7 x 9 inches. Photo is dated 12-21-1943.”
