Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Peter wanted to let you all know that he is holding a Vintage jeep Gathering on September, 17th, in Wyndham, Vermont.
The Vintage Jeep Gathering at Pete’s Camp is a very casual event. We start out with a pancake breakfast at 830am. Most of the morning is spent looking at the old Jeeps and talking with the owners. There are onsite trails, and a group ride leaving around 11am that explores the local back roads and trails. This is a free event,. Breakfast and lunch is available on site on a “donation” basis.

“Beautifully restored 1948 willys cj-2a. All original drive train with 4-134 L-head go devil engine,
T-90 transmission, Dana 18 transfer case, Dana 25 front axle, and Dana 41 rear axle. No rust. Excellent condition. Runs and drives great. Everything works like it should. 12 volt electrical with a heater, back-up lights and turn signals. It comes with a nearly new best top soft top (not shown). New alloy wheels and tires, new locking hubs, new brakes, new gas tank, new starter, alternator, fuel pump, ign. coil, all new 12 volt wiring throughout, new upholstery on original seat frames.”

Looks like there’s at least some value here, especially if the chrome tailgate is actually stainless.

Listed as a 1943, it looks like it has a DJ body. Chassis might be CJ.
“I have an old Jeep that is titled as a 1943 with the L-134 engine. Converted to 12 v, I put a new voltage regulator on it and the electronics are good, Starts right up and drives. Has Overdrive added as well and it does work. Title in hand.
I was going to use it as a desert toy for my girlfriend and I but in the end it is a little too primitive for what I had in mind. Has nice full back aftermarket seats, and a nice top.Comes with Dick Cepek spoke wheels with good tires on them, at least 80% tread left on them. Runs and drives but will need tail pipe added at some point. Gas tank has been moved to the rear. Will throw in new hydraulic jack and lug wrench as well.”

Mark’s looking for a CJ-2A Halftone preferably in the southeast.
“Looking to buy a half hardtop for CJ 2A, preferably aluminum, but will consider steel. MUST be a 2A top as I do not want to modify my windshield frame for any other top to fit. This will be auctioned Sept 27th. It’s listed as a ’47, but has full floating hubs and tool indents.It also appears to have the earliest CJ-2A serial number data plate on the left of the three dash plates. The plates themselves have been trimmed at the corners, then redrilled and pop riveted onto the dash. This could be a ’45.

The jeep runs and drives good. The brakes work good as well. Fuel tank is newer. Tires are like new on original 16 inch wheels. I have a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing that goes with it. The throwout bearing is starting to make noise.Body is in good condition. It’s a nice flat fender. It has a clear Missouri title.”

We don’t know what year it is and didn’t even know it was in there. It is complete but will need restored. Have two extra front cowls with windshields we will sell seperate. 1963 license are still on it so a Title exist somewhere but a inheritance of one or two generations would make it hard to come up with. Currently installed is a small block 350, not running, it was, you can figure it out.

I have a better early 283 small block engine that also goes with it.
Orginal T18 transfer case with real Warn overdrive, yes she will easily do over 65.

Larger than orginal axles, I think they are Dana 60’s, but I do not remember.

The extra motor, early 283, good little motor. I took out this running, to put in the 350, I should have stayed with the 283 motor.

Glass needs replacing on cab.
“For Sale Sold AS IS is a vintage Koenig Iron Works half cab model i believe #555 for early CJ Style jeeps. We pulled this top off a 1948 willys jeep.. The Jeep it came off of is in fair shape but top is ready to be restored for your jeep project. These cabs were very well made. If you have questions about the cab please email me and I will try to get you the best answers I can. 1 window has glass that needs to be replaced on a door and the rear window as well. It does come with a neat Dietz Stop Brake light that have good value to them.”
