“1942 Willys Jeep body. Includes tub, window frame, fenders and hood. I was going to use it for a project but decided to go another direction”
UPDATE: Still Available.
(09/18/2017) Has a fiberglass body and runs.
“I purchased this a year ago with the hopes to fix it up but I realized that I dont have the time or space for it. That being said I did a little work to it. Replaced battery and battery cables. Replaced the carb and replaced the fuel filters. I also purchased a new gas can for it.
The body of the vehicle is in great shape. The body has been replaced with a fiber glass one. The inside is also in great shape no rips in the seats.
The frame is also in great shape. There is rust but NO ROT. A previous owner cut a notch in the frame for some reason but it doesn’t seem big enough to effect anything.
The jeep starts and runs but is very loud and blows a blue smoke. I have been told that it has a rod nock. I am asking $2500 OBO. Some research tells me to get the engine running reliably it will be about $2500. You could have a cool jeep for 5k. Only serious inquiries please. I can send more pictures if needed. “

I can say the place looks a little nicer than it did back in ’42.
“1942 Press Photo Army Jeep passes the Dawson Creek muddy street.
This is an original press photo. Dawson Creek, BC. There are fewer spots these days than Dawson Creek BC. U.S. Army Troops and engineers are gathered there to lay out preliminary plans for building the highway to Alaska. Rain and mud are a set back but Army engineers say they will push her through”. An Army jeep is shown on the muddy main street of Dawson Creek. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 3-15-1942.”
This CJ-3A has a CJ-7 hardtop reshaped to fit a CJ-3A. It looks well done. The doors are well don’t, too. Thanks to Gary for spotting it.
Doug spotted this one. Seller also has an FC-150 rear weight for sale, too.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.
It’s a got tool indents.
“1946 Willys CJ2A. This is an early 2A with the tool indentations still on the drivers side. This one would have been a column shift. It has everything except for drivetrain and seats. I bought this willys with a Chevy 153 in it and drove great so I know the axles and all that are good. I was going to put a small block chevy into it but never got around it. The body has been repaired in a number of spots. Most of the floor is new steel. This would be a great offroad wheeling project for the winter.”
Various parts (variety of pics on Craigslist ad).

“I have a few Jeep parts from my collection that I’ve decided to sell. I’d keep them, but I don’t have enough space to store everything and I need cash to finish my shop. I’ll do my best to keep the list current, and I may add more as well. Take your pick:
Original Early CJ2A Windsheild: $400 – in good shape with inner frame. Inner frame is rusted out in a few spots but the outer frame is solid.
Reproduction Tailgate (no stamping): $150 – almost like new, paint is faded
Early CJ2A Body & Front Clip – 1946: $500 – floor pans are gone, covered with flat plate. Underside in general is rough. Has a few holes cut in it, needs a good restoration. Hood and grill are fairly straight, fenders need some repairs around the supports.
Dana 27 & 41 axles: $300 a pair
Frame and Springs: $300 – from a 1947 CJ 2A. It’s pretty rough, bubba welding all over the front end, but nothing a competent welder cant fix. Looks like it had a plow put on it at some point. Coated in a dull red finish that has protected it from rust over the years. Rear half is fairly solid with the stock draw bar. Axles sold separately. No Title.
Chrome Wheels: $100 – Set of 4, 5 on 5.5 pattern with large opening for the big early CJ hubs. There is surface rust, and the tires died 30 years ago (but the tubes hold air!). No bent rims. 1 hubcap.
CJ 5 Rollcage: $150 – Front half is bolted on, the roll bar would work on early CJs as well.
Carburetors: $75 each. I have a Carter and 2 Solex’s.
Fuel, Water, & Oil Pumps $25 each.
Oil Filter Brackets $25 each.”
No pics provided. It was listed as a 1943.
“All original Jeep cj3a. Transmission complete rebuilt. Transmission need to be installed. Only a few parts need to put on the road. Titled as 1943. Ran when transmission was removed. Painted as a military model.”
UPDATE II: There’s a newer, updated Dualmatic hub post with comments about the Watson hub here.
These hubs were created about the same time as the dual lever Dualmatic hubs. Moreover, we can state for sure now that there was a specific relationship between the Watson hub and the Dualmatic company.
How do we know this? Because both hubs share the same patent number 2854111:
UPDATE: A 1967 Sears Jeep Parts Catalog had a set of hubs for sale that look suspiciously like the Watson hubs. One thing we’ve noticed is that some Watson hubs have “WATSON” imprinted on the hub, while other identical hubs don’t.
So, were these WATSON hubs that were private labeled, or had Dualmatic been making WATSON hubs all along, but now offered them for private labeling? It’s easy to think that Dualmatic might want to separate their Dualmatic branded hubs from private labeled ones. Changing the private-labeled version to this look would help that.
===============================
Original Post: October 30, 2017:
Alaska Paul discovered this Watson Hub article in the 1958 issue of Science and Mechanics magazine. This suggests that the Watson hub was developed in 1956 or 1957, making the company a very early hub manufacturer.
The mechanism looks similar to the early Dualmatic hubs. In fact, the first Dualmatic hub patent filing was in 1956, for a single lever model. Whether that inspired the dual lever model by the California-based H. S. Watson company remains unclear. I have no evidence to suggest Watson ever patented its hub nor how long they sold their hub.

Another example from a truck listed for sale on Craigslist out of Redding, California:
