1951 CJ-3A Milwaukie, WI $2500

This has a government plate on the dash.

“I KNOW IT ISN’T a JEEP PATRIOT but FB doesn’t list Willys and you can’t post an add unless you select SOMETHING so… Frame and tub are in pretty good shape. Needs motor. Rolls and steers easily. If you are looking to restore this model or make it an army jeep this is a pretty good platform to start with. Body panels are in good shape and the tub floor needs some work but is fairly solid. Frame underneath looks okay. This was supposed to be a restoration project but I realized I don’t have the knowledge or time so I would like to pass it on to someone else before the snow flies. Sat indoors for many years until about two years ago. Stays covered since. No title.”

1950 CJ-3A & 1947 CJ-2A Hubbard, OR **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, CJ-3A, Wood bodies This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.

The CJ-2A’s body is wood from a Sears & Roebuck kit. Seems we have run across one of those kits before.

1947-cj2a-1950-cj3a-hubbard-or8

1947-cj2a-1950-cj3a-hubbard-or9

“Package deal of tona of parts and three Willy’s Jeeps. One ’47 CJ2A (white) complete but half the body is a plywood kit from Sears Roebuck. No title. Engine has lots of rust but repairable with a hot tank and time. Needs work but good frame and lots of good parts, or make it run again if you want.

One ’47 CJ2A just the body have the windshield, fenders, grille, seats, tailgate, and other metal for it.

And one ’50 CJ3A complete with title runs and drives but has bad tires, no brakes, no steering (the front crossmember is busted off, planned to chassis swap with the white 2A.) Grille is unbolted as is left fender to work on car. Has new starter and new ignition parts. Runs like a top stock fuel pump even works.

Planned to use the running gear from green one, body of the tub and parts, and chassis from the white one to make one nice stock jeep easily then use the remaining parts to build the remaining parts into crawlers or something fun.

Parts include:
Engine block in good shape will need cleaned up, cranks, cams, pistons, rods, oil pans, transfer cases, I think transmission, drive shafts, radiator, tons of body metal such as hoods fenders doors windshields (including glass) tailgates, parts to put a canvas top on, basically three entire jeeps worth of parts including lots of new parts worth ~450 from Kaiser Willy’s with receipt.

May split stuff. Yes the VW stuff is for sale too.

Anyone Have Scans of These Jeep News Issues?

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The good news is that I won 10 issues of Jeep News 1959-1961 issues, which I will be publishing once I receive them.

The bad news is that I missed out on the four issues pictured below. I suspect the winner of these is a Surrey guy, as the Surrey, the Pepsi Surrey are mentioned in two of the four issues.

I was hoping that someone might have scans of any of these four issues they could send me???

The best way I have found to scan these is to use a phone scanning software like “Scannable” on the iPhone. It’s not perfect, but it does a very good job on flat scans and is super helpful with oversize (bigger than 8.5×11) images.

The first is the September-October 1959 Issue of Jeep News. One head line reads, “New Surrey Proves Popular Addition to ‘Jeep’ Family …

1959-09-10-jeep-news-frontpage

This March 1960 issue mentions the Pepsi-Cola Company and Surreys. I’m also interested in the 1960 Jeep Special Equipment story.

1960-03-jeep-news-front-page

This May-June 1960 issue highlights several different marketing documents (New parts-service mailers) and the product line changes story, which includes a reference to the one-piece windshields.

Finally, this June-July 1961 issue appears to announce the new FJ-3As.

I was surprised to see this Toyota Land Cruiser museum pop up on social media. I was even more surprised to see it located in Salt Lake City. The final surprise was that it is a short walk from my son’s house. So, I’ll be visiting this place soon. The museum boasts an impressive collection of Land Cruisers.

I picked up these four 20″ x 30″ vintage tour jeep photos. The first image shows a tour-jeep-wagon that kept part of the door and roof, similar to what was done with the FC Tour Jeeps. As you can see in the other photos, usually door was lopped and all of the roof and upper sides, except the windshield, was removed.

Electrifying Philippine Jeepneys

• CATEGORIES: Features, videos • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

With the Philippine government’s decision to modernize public transportation comes the need to make the famous Jeepneys more environmentally friendly. To that end, the 76-year-old Franciso Motors company has partnered with Tembo, who will provide electrification kits to Franciso Motors. Francisco spotted this older Jeepney, noting it was one the company built.

Francisco Jeepney makes both public transportation-sized Jeepneys and smaller, more familiar-sized jeep-like vehicles called Oners (if I understand the site correctly). .

Here is Elmer Francisco describing his goal with electric Jeepneys (takes a about a minute to get to the interview):

“1960 Jeep Forward Control FC 150 “Slow Tow” Custom build. Original 4cyl, 3sp original drive train. 4wd works as it should. Cranks and runs first try every time. Front PTO that runs the original Ramsey winch. All lights, turn signals, etc work properly. This truck is a real head turner every where it goes. Top speed is a little over 50mph. You can feel all of the factory rated 72 hp. Towing set up is just for show. This was a complete frame off tear down and rebuild. Zero rust on frame. Notice the wiring…there isn’t a rats nest hanging under the dash like many of the other ones listed. Hester works. I put a couple hundred miles on it during cruisin the coast and did the same for jeepin the coast. I own several of these but this is the most fun and I drive it the most. I am moving soon and only have room to keep a few items. Make me an offer because it has to go. Clean title in hand.”

At the time it was the only fc-150 titled as such in Indiana. Tires hold air for a few hours. Not drivable but could be pretty easily. F134 engine. I believe it to be a 4 speed trans. Reverse is up and to the right. Aftermarket bed. Rusty sheet metal. Solid frame. 4×4 with manual hubs. Western cable plow not currently operational. 6 foot blade. Project. Broken windshield and drivers window is cracked. Roof has rust above gutters. It’s cool because it still exists. I believe I am the 3rd owner. Originally owned by a concrete company in a nearby town. Drum brakes. Manual steering, mechanical clutch. Bring a trailer. Only trade may consider is a Chevy 2500 plow truck or better”
