Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Fixer-upper, 1970 Jeep CJ5 Dauntless, 50k miles, 2 wheel drive, V-6 225 c.i. engine, automatic transmission, like new tires. This is a Dauntless, a unique Jeep CJ5 that came with the V6 225 c.i. engine and automatic transmission. Engine is in good shape, runs smooth and clean, no leaks, lots of torque and power, (not like the underpowered 4 cylinder).”

“1948 Willys CJ2A Orange body with a Blue roll cage.
*CLEAN-Fairly fresh paint job, Jeep Cherokee front bucket seats with covers, Renegade back bench seat. Fuel cell mounted under rear seat ahd a full roll cage.
*Rebuilt Buick/Jeep 225 V6 short block, Offenhauser 360 intake with a Motorcraft 2100 2bbl carb, and fenderwell headers and ACCEL Super Coil.
*T14 tranny with modified T-case. I used Spicer 20 case (to bolt to the T14) and put Spicer 18 gears to keep the 2.46 gear ratio and offset for the rear end.
*Original Dana 25 front and 41 rear with 5.38 gears.
I just don’t have the time to finish this project. Too many other irons in the fire. Very – Very little left to make this a great trail rider or street vehicle. (NO Title)

“Runs and Drives! Original motor from what I can find online. Has PTO winch on the front which alone is worth $500. I have a new steering wheel for it. It fires up great with a few squirts of starter fluid and then purrs like a kitten, that doesn’t have an exhaust pipe. So like a big sick kitten. Brakes dont work, but who needs those anyway? It has a set of tire chains and the original little leather bag that was under the front seat. That alone is worth the money im sure! Body has minor signs of sitting in the forest for 40 years. So that being said, its a little rusty. ITS A PROJECT. That’s what I got it for and thus with many of us who buy these things with hopes of turning it into the beauty she once was, alas I must send her on to the next wisher. “I have a good, pretty much rust free tub, 2 sets of fenders, a grill, one frame that the tub is on [has been modified somewhat but could be brought back easily] rancho springs, steering column, a hood that has been cut for a scoop, another frame that is rusted out at behind the rear springs but has front and rear ends, a trans and transfer case in it and a cowl but the rest of the body is gone and it has a column and box, later ball joint front end with no axles or outers. Also, if you pay my full asking price I WILL INCLUDE A TITLE FOR A 1945 CJ2A. But only if you pay full price and that is not negotiable at all. I also have a Ford 2.3 liter that was going to go into this project, it was propane powered and low hours, I will include it for an extra 300.”

Strangely, this 1956 Comic book (#31) on eBay features T-Man (Treasury Man) Pete Trask fighting a “Red Agent” in a Ford GP, while four issues earlier T-Man raced bad guys in a more traditional WWII jeep (see bottom photo). I wonder why the comic switched to an older jeep? Maybe we have to read it to find out??

“1955 Willys Station Wagon 2wd with Ford 289 V8 engine and C6 automatic transmission. Power steering, A/C (needs compressor), tilt steering column, and custom interior. 2 sets of wheels, 2 sets of hub caps, 1 set of spinners, and 2 extra hoods. New tires, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires. Steering and front suspension need work, but vehicle runs good and drives for short distances. You will probably need trailer unless local to Bryan/College Station.”

Looks like it comes with a Koenig half and full top. It’s listed as a 1952, but that’s incorrect unless it has an M-38A1, M-38, or CJ-3A chassis.

(11/11/2017) “1946 willys jeep it’s a 2a with a3a windshield it has had a full frame off, sandblasted, painted and body panels that’s are all original solid steel grill tub hood and tailgate aftermarket replacement front fenders,no filler anywhere under 10k on motor and trans all new gears in axles, transfer case has a 4:1kit in it, 5:38gears, all new break components new hubs gauges, steering wheel, seals, gaskets, hoses ever part is there to finish it needs a couple things done some fresh paint and it will be a great fresh driver many extra parts including extra engine… Sure I’m missing lots it’s been an ongoing project hate to sell but trying to finish another build in memory of a friend now so this has to regrettably go…into it 12k not looking for anything close to that text me with an offer looking for 5300 make an offer or trade for side by side and cash, ”

I bought these on eBay as part of another purchase. Perhaps the most interesting about them are the ambulance prices and standard equipment included (last set of docs), as there seems to be very little info about those left.

This Jeep has worked hard her entire life. I personally have owned her for more years than I can remember. It has served as a utility vehicle to help gather firewood in the fall and plow the road in the winter. During the summer she mostly just sits around gathering wasps. She’s old, she has cancer and she smokes 5 packs a day but by golly she still runs! Unfortunately, the long years of hard work have finally taken its toll and she just doesn’t have enough compression in the old pistons to push the plow like she used to. Her tired old engine could really use a rebuild.
Although we have worked this old girl hard over the years, we have done much to keep her going! She has new springs and shocks that gave her a much needed 2″ lift so she could hold those 31” tires. She got a new gas tank about 3 years ago, along with a new clutch, carburetor, starter, alternator conversion (she originally had a generator!), all new brakes, and just last month she got a brand new battery! She has also been rewired front to back and now has a fuse box!
