“1945 Press Photo Farmer operates seeding machine from the postwar jeep. This is an original press photo. The Postwar Jeep, especially adapted for peacetime work, combining the four basic functions of tractor, light truck, mobile power unit and passenger conveyance. Photo shows the new Jeep, just unvelied to the public by Willys-Overland Motors, operating a seeding machine. Among the many and various farm applications of this modern vehicle are: disking, plowing, mowing, raking, threshing, baling, shelling and grinding corn, operating manure spreader, filling silo and sawing wood. Photo measures 8 x 5.25 inches. Photo is dated 07-19-1945.”

“I have a 1952 M38A1 first generation Military Jeep and 1942 M100 WWII for sale $14,000.00 OBO or trade for a pickup that runs good and has three or four door. The Jeep is all original except for the oil gauge but I have in garage just need to find sending unit. It is 24 volt kept it all original has less than 1000 miles on rebuilt engine from Pennsylvania. Put a lot of time and money in jeep and was used for funerals and parades in Paradise California.

Hate to get rid of it my grandfather rode in it just before he passed wanted to keep it but my family is in need of a new engine for my 1996 GMC K1500 and a transmission for my wife’s car plus a few gifts under the tree for my ten year old son would be nice. I am the commander for the Disabled American Veterans in Paradise and the guys are going to miss it but my family has to come first. “First off jeep runs great has normal cancer in the typical spots but its not bad or hacked up hard top is in great shape heater wipers and everything works has dana 44 rear and 30 up front has lift springs and 33s that are brand new with matching spare all new billet columb and wheel only thing wrong with the jeep is a broken rear axle so it would need trailered also for full asking price I have a t18 4 speed and dana 20 transfefcase was going to swap everything and do 44s front and rear but don’t have the time and I do have the title 5000 with all extras or 4500 without also willing to trade but no junk these old flat fenders are getting hard to find the 302 just got new weiind intake and new eldebrock carb new valve covers just put 1200 into all that if interested please call or text thanks”

“This is a solid 1952 Willys Jeep. It runs well and is drivable, but will need some brake work before it’s ready for the road. It has the overhead valve engine. The hood scoop is because it was updated by the military to the overhead valve engine from a flathead, and more room was needed for the carburetor.

I’m no expert, but here is a brief description of the APU conversion. They were converted by two companies for the military, O.E. Szekely and the Valentine Welder and Manufacturing Company. The APU stands for auxiliary power unit, and they were also called jet starter jeeps. The military converted these Jeeps for use in the Navy and Air Force. They were used among other things to start jet aircraft. There were a few variations, they made both 3 and 4 wheeled versions.

The right seat and factory toolbox underneath it were removed, and a pto was run up thru the floor towards the right seat well, to power the generator. I will attach a picture showing one, and here is a link to get you started:
