Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “True barn find survivor recently pulled from back of dry metal shed after a long 10+ year storage. Main pic is where it sat, then pics after pulled.. Always in Texas was always just a hunting vehicle, rarely if ever used on the street. Runs and drives although does have an exhaust leak and heater core is bypassed and needs to be replaced. Two of the heat control cables are broken. Small dent in lower right rear quarter. Very solid, original driveline, runs drives, shifts and stops, stays cools, good oil pressure, doesn’t smoke, lights work, glass excellent, paint all original in useable shape, tires new, has original spare, clear title in my name. New brake master cylinder. Have the two original white soft doors, but do not have the rest of the original white half soft top. I don’t believe there are many out there this original with this low original miles for under $20k. Motor even still has all the smog gear on it.”

There is some value here given the Meyer hardtop, but not clear how much.
“Pre 59 willys m38a1. Im assuming this is military or dod use jeep as it has the place for a shovel under the hood a 4in fuel filler and the compartment on the cowl section does open. What i do know is it has the dana 18 twin stick tcase which is worth a good bit by itself. Also has a t90 3speed, dana 25 front axel with dana 44 rear. Also has a hurricane f head engine that turns over by hand. Lots of new parts inside the truck. Engine and tcase were built in 77. I dont see this taking alot to be running and going again. Located in eclectic price is negotiable in person.”

I found this Hurricane Engine Introduction on eBay. It’s the first one I’ve seen. It credits Barney Roos for redeveloping the L-head into a more powerful engine without forcing a complete retooling.
I think this method of filming engine removals of L-134 and other vintage jeep engines could prove useful to folks. I didn’t know the radiator was attached to the “power pack” on the M-151. That’s handy!
