UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $34,995.
TJ shared this unusual Wrangler. In terms of a DJ-3A Surrey throwback attempt, it doesn’t quite work for me.
/dealer/jeep/unspecified/2038992.html?refer=news#&gid=1&pid=6
” This 2004 Jeep Wrangler Surrey very nice customization has brought this Jeep to look as though it came straight from the ’60s, displaying many of the signature themes seen on the original Surreys. The base for this re-creation is a 2004 Jeep Wrangler that is equipped with the much loved inline six-cylinder engine, an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The exterior has been finished in a light shade of blue with matching wheels and whitewall tires. The interior is finished with blue and white striped upholstery, blue door panels, blue dashboard; and a blue and white steering wheel. The Jeep is tailored with a rollbar, removable side curtains, a striped fringed top and a rear-mounted spare tire with a striped cover.
Along with the many aesthetic customizations, this Jeep has power steering, power brakes, air conditioning and an AM/FM radio. The re-creation completed here has been executed very well and complements the original Surrey Jeep design. This Jeep, with its modern drivetrain, presents itself as a perfect candidate for being used at a resort or used for a weekend adventure. Henry Kaiser bought Willis-Overland in 1953, and then went to live at a hotel that he owned in Hawaii. As a part of the hotel, he owned a car rental business that offered Surrey Jeeps as a cheap runabout vehicle that were used around the resorts. In 1959, a Gala edition, with striped upholstery and fringed top, was added to the export line; intended for resort areas like Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico. Later that year it was marketed domestically as the Surrey.”
Missing some body, a good chuck of the passenger side rear.

“Runs well but body it shot. Frame is good. I plowed my driveway this winter with it. 16621 miles. I have Transferable registration.”
It’s got some rough edges.

“No documents – selling as is. $1200 or best offer, but go this weekend. Unsure of year, assuming 1948-1954.”
The jeep is more disassembled than the photo below indicates, but it does give a good sense of the parts that come with it.

“I have done a lot of work to this little jeep. I swapped in a Buick odd fire 231 v6 that runs good. I custom built the headers and exhaust so it is tight fitting and clears everything. The clutch is new and has Novak hydraulic clutch slave. The brakes have been gone through and has a new master on swinging pedals. The tranny (t-90) and t-case (d18) have been completely rebuilt. I rebuilt the front dana 27. The rear axle is a Dana 44 with posi. New u-joints in both drive shafts. All new brake lines and hoses from master to new wheel cylinders.
New custom wiring harness from American Autowire. The tub is not 100% but has been repaired in several areas and has a new floor. It has a saginaw power steering box. Although the hoses are not attached, it steers great. I do have the P/S engine bracket and used pump. All of the lights and turn signals work and the rear lights are LED. New fuel tank and sender. Seat from CJ3A. Lots of other little stuff done. I do have another CJ2A as parts if interested and two spare 225 engines.”
UPDATE: Derek did the initial research and writeup on this project, correctly identifying it as a CJ-2A. Check out the pre-restoration pics and info here: http://cj3b.info/Fire/NewSalem.html
The folks at the New Salem Fire Department near Albany, New York, recently ‘restored’ what they call a “CJ-2B Attack Engine”. And, to be fair, I suppose this CJ-2A has undergone some major changes. Perhaps it should be relabeled a 1948 CJ-2RC (Riot Control) jeep?
You can read about it here: http://newsalemfire.com/new-salem-fire-apparatus-Jeep-CJ-2B.php
TJ shared this cool 1972 Salem (Oregon) Mud Bowl Poster he go from a friend of his, Ken, who used to race jeeps in the Pacific Northwest. That’s Ken in the photo.

“1949 Willys Overland CJ3-A
Free and clear title- newly assigned state vin number, original vin tag was gone.
3 Stick Trannie/transfer – T-90 / Dana 18 as far as I can tell.
Early 90’s 305 SBC from a Camaro, according to the casting numbers, I was told, besides the cheap walmart battery, which is mounted in the rear, the engine starts and purrs great. I rewired the majority of the Jeep with Weatherpack connectors. Part of the reason I am getting rid of it is because, I am more of a blue oval fan, which would have been much more gentle on the firewall (distributor would have been in the CORRECT spot!) and if I did keep it, I would surely destroy my perfect driving record, well at least for the last decade. This Jeep has a s@#$load of power and should not be taken likely!!!

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.
Includes a variety of extra parts.
“All original 1951 Willy’s M38. This is not the civilian version. This is the military version with 24V wiring system, fully boxed frame, and water-proof wiring harness. Original Willy’s flathead 134 engine, transmission, and transfer case. Included are many parts to start the restoration including all new gauges with wiring, new voltage regulator, new gaskets, and much much more. Over $4,500 invested. The jeep is not currently running or driving. It will serve as the perfect candidate for a full restoration. Clean Texas title in hand.
I bought this jeep with the intention of a frame-off restoration, but I have many other projects and this one has been neglected. I am sad to see it go, but I just don’t have the time to devote to it. Message with any questions or to set up a time to come take a look. Asking $3,000.”

Thanks to Chris for sharing this one.
“Have a nice little fc150 for sale I hate to part it out it is a very unique little truck has the factory radio which is beyond rare. All the glass is good except for the wing windows. Has typical damage for an FC but the rear cab corners are in pretty good condition and most of the rust is isolated to the front floorboards wh.ich is fairly common. I’m asking $3,000 for it as is if you want it for any less than that I will for sure be keeping the radio. Does not have a title will be sold on a bill of sale.”
