“We have a 1954 jeep CJ 3B. Has no motor or transmission currently. This is a rare addition high body. We have an inch thick of paperwork from all the original build in the original owner. Original title and bill of sale. We have dimensions and specs from everything when it was built, including gear, ratios, specs, cylinders, and everything when engine was built And the transmission was built in the axles gear ratios. You name it. Unfortunately no motor no trans currently but it originally had a 428 cobra jet in it. It also comes with a set of 18 inch wide rims with paddle tires. One of those tires is flat. Also have a spare set of bucket seats. This is meant for a project. Put whatever you want in it. It’s a 50 for CJ. Imagine putting something feel injected in it and this thing could be worth upwards of 25 grand or more.”

“Real barn find! A neighbor just passed away and had this Jeep stashed deep in his garage for many years. It’s always been parked in a garage and has been protected from the weather. He had done a lot of work to it and replaced many parts before he got sick. No rust or rot on the frame or body. This would be a great project to bring back to life. The motor turns over easily but we haven’t tried to make it run. We just pulled it out to sell. I have the windshield frame and some other random parts that go with it. It also has some seats but they look to be from a newer Jeep. Let me know if you want to come see it. I can deliver for a price if needed. Make an offer. May be willing to trade.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000.

The body is pretty rusted. The engine compartment and engine looks in good shape. I’m not sure how much value is here.

“I’m ready to sell my 1947 cj2a now. I did a post a couple months ago to see about what it was worth, just so no one thinks it’s a scam, due to using the same pictures. Don’t know much about it. The guy that I got it from wanted to buy it back a year and a half or so ago for $2,150 but I didn’t want to sell it. I was going to use it as a bar/focal piece in my man cave. But I’m moving out of state now and just looking to sell. I’m not a mechanic so I can’t really tell you anything about it. I have the title. Located in sykesville Maryland. Asking $2,000 or best offer”

“As it goes, such is life. Time to send my project down the road. It’s a perfect restoration candidate. I purchased from grandson of original owner, non-running.

-Dauntless V6
-Manual transmission
-Cj6, with hardtop
-Matching keys work both doors and rear hatch!
-Swing out tire carrier/fuel carrier (needs work)

See video, now running, after I rebuilt the carb. I replaced fuel lines and drained the old tank, but haven’t tested it since. I ran it through the gears on jack stands, and it turned the rears in all 3 and reverse. Didn’t engaged 4WD.

“1946 CJ2A. This jeep has been sitting in a shed for close to 30 years. Has some kind of a 4cylinder Chevy engine in it. But it’s not mounted. Transmission has Chevy adapter installed and is mounted to the engine. someone was trying to install a power steering rack in it but it doesn’t look safe and will need to be replaced. The jeep is in overall good condition. It’s straight has minimal rust, minus the rot in the storage compartment under the passenger seat. There is NO PAPERWORK, NO ID TAGS NO LICENSE PLATE seats and fuel tank are gone as well. sold as parts jeep only. Tires hold air but are 30+ years old. I’m throwing in A spare tire with stock rim, two L134 Willy’s jeep engines (both buildable) one has a 2wd transmission bolted to it incase you wanted to build some kinda 2wd rat rod jeep..?”

Will, Sam, Gerald and I.

On Tuesday’s triple-digit afternoon, Gerald and his two kids dropped by for a short visit. Gerald and his son Will, from Pennsylvania, are visiting daughter Samantha, who now lives in Washington State, for the week.  They’ve been exploring some of the state and on Tuesday their travels brought them to our humble home (technically, we never really made it past the shop).

The last time I’d seen the kids was eleven years ago at the 2013 Bantam Festival, and they were pretty young, so I didn’t recognize them at all. But, Gerald still looked the same … I’m not sure he’s even aged!?! Anyway, in 2013, Gerald gave us the grand tour in his CJ-3B of the Cooper Lake campground, a place they had camped for years.

Gerald was an early reader of eWillys (circa 2009 maybe?). As he put it on Tuesday, his online world consisted of The CJ-3B page and eWillys. Outside, of that, he really didn’t want much to do with the internet. His parents were involved in a local jeep club and also raced, so Gerald and I had shared, via email, many stories of growing up in the old jeep world, desert dogs, camping, etc.

While we talked on Tuesday, Will was checking out the racer, so it wasn’t long before I was running him around the property in it. Here’s a quick clip.

Then he climbed in, all smiles, for a chance to drive it. He didn’t go all that fast, but seemed to be enjoying himself.

The visit was all too short as they needed to make their way back to the Kelso area by nightfall, so we said our goodbyes. Perhaps we’ll see them if we make our way to the Willys Reunion next year.
