Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A that is ready to enjoy. I have had this for 10 years and kept it in top shape all the time. Stored in the winter and just driving minimally on weekends. I bought this with it needing mechanical work and my son is a mechanic and rebuilt the motor to new stock condition. It was bored, new pistons, rods, bears and completely rebuilt. The old radiator just was not clean enough to keep the motor cooled, so I had the local radiator shop build a brand new radiator to insure cooling for the long term. I installed all new exhaust and brakes to complete it mechanically. The body is in great shape and the interior is like original. In addition, you don’t find these with the tops that are in perfect condition like this. You can keep the sun & rain off while driving to enjoy the ride. Has mirrors, windshield wiper, seat belts and turn signals so it is street legal and ready to go. $9500,”

The 1968 issue had an article that underscores how popular jeeping had become. One event in California, the Desert Safari, organized by the Tierra Del Sol 4wd club, brought in 600 jeeps and over 2500 people. Below is the cover story’s picture.
As Merlins explains at the beginning of this video, This crazy CJ-3A truck was something he saw listed on eWillys. It proved useful into it broke down a couple years ago. In this newest episode of Throwing Wrenches, the crew gets it running again.

(08/08/2018) This vintage jeep has a variety of extras: A PTO winch, a Koenig hardtop, a center seat (Dumas)?, a rear seat, and some Free Lock hubs!
“This jeep is all original and unmolested. It was last licensed 30 years ago, but it runs and drives great. It does need some brake work. It has a PTO winch and a Koenig hard top. It has 44k miles. Has a rare Willy’s heater under the dash. It has a tow bar on the front and a spare tire on the side. The tires are in great condition and are on original 16″ wheels. We rebuilt the carb and radiator as well as putting new oil filter lines on it.”

“Selling For my father in-law, He has owned it since the late 70’s. Still has the old flathead 4 in it that runs as you can see by the fan in the motor pic. All factory except for the turn signals. Those were added by previous owner. It comes with a Warren over drive, factory installed. New Tires, brakes all the way around a few years ago, along new front knuckles as well. Fuel pump and water pump replaced to get it running again. Does need restoration, but is solid. Comes with new set of plug and wires. Not used much, carb needs cleaned I suspect, have to choke a bit to keep it idling. Valid title as well. Less”
