The hard top is in rough shape as are the doors that go with it but savable. We found this in a barn in Washington years ago and he plans on restoring it. Our change of plans can be your gain. No updates Monday.
Karson and his girlfriend Mariah are visiting Seattle, so I took them on a short drive in Patterson. Karson wanted to drive, and though he’d never driven a stick, let alone a column shift, he gave it a try. He only stalled it once (though we never got out of first gear).
This one was on eBay. I thought I would win it on Sunday, but someone outbid me at the last minute. Anyone have an electronic scan of the folded-out page? I’d like to use it to make another poster similar to last year’s poster.
That Landing Craft Retriever looks like a real-life transformer!

“1957 Press Photo Fort Story, Virginia-An Army landing craft retriever and Jeep. This is an original press photo. Fort Story, Virginia-The Army’s conventional “jeep” squeezes over to the side of the road to make room for a new landing craft retriever. Weighing 101 tons, the LCR is 75 feet long, 38 feet wide and 23 feet high. It is used by the Army to repair over-turned or beached landing craft. It can drive over the craft and lift it for re-floating or repair, much like vehicles utilized in lumber yards. (US Army-ships-boats & crafts) Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 05-07-1957.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $29000.
This looks like a well done build. Hard to tell from the outside that this is sitting on a Blazer chassis. My only wish is that the light would have been better for the photos.

“I have a 1957 Willy’s Jeep CJ-6 for sale. It has a clean title and is currently registered as a horseless carriage in Colorado. It could also be registered as a collector vehicle depending on your desired use. For completeness it is registered as a 1954 Willy’s. This was the case when I acquired it ~2 years ago. The research I have done on the serial number/VIN suggests it is actually a 1957. This is not an issue I just wanted to highlight what I know.
I purchased it ~2 years ago. The previous owner had done quite a bit of work on the vehicle. What I know of what he did is listed below. Overall it is in really good condition. I have replaced the battery and it starts right up every time. It does not have power steering or brakes. It is a great off road vehicle as is, or is a great starting platform for an even better off road build. It has great dimensions for an off road build. The extra 20” in length over the CJ-5 provides considerable stability. Can also be driven in town and would be a fun show car.

(08/20/2018) Needs head gasket.
“RIGHT PHONE NUMBER THIS TIME.
Sorry to anyone that tried to contact me about this Jeep. I don’t know how but somehow I posted the wrong number.
1949 Willy’s Jeep. Decent shape. Rust for sure but it is still there. It has the 4 cyl. Flathead “go devil”. Just put a new head gasket on and found that piston 3 does have some damage to it. Engine still runs as is. Looks as if the prior owner took out the damaging piece and ran it. Then stopped cause the head gasket developed a leak into cylinder 2. Other downside is that the starter is not shooting out to engage the engine and turn it. Bright sides are many though! It has a in tact windshield, brand new tires, a recently gone through trans and it has been converted to 12 volt! Granted whoever did it used only red wires but still, that’s a 400 dollar conversion. Also all the gauges work or seem to!
Got the Jeep on a trade and though it is cool, I have a off-road rig already and really need the cash. Only trade I would entertain is a car hauler. 18′ or more with drive over fenders.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $400.
Looks restorable.
“I have a Kelly All-Steel hardtop for sale. It came off of one of my CJ3b’s. It is not in perfect shape as you can tell by the pictures, but it is mostly all there and complete. It has the doors and rear hatch. Door handles work and the rear hatch handle works. Windows will roll up and down with help and could use some adjusting. All of the glass is there with the exception of the driver’s side door window is cracked and the rear hatch window is some type of plexiglass (not certain if that is original or not). There is a dome light inside the cab, but I am not certain if it works and is missing the cover.
There is rust, but it is solid. There are no holes through the cab from rust, but there are a couple screw holes from where someone had a CB antenna or something similar mounted to it. There could potentially be other small holes that I have not noticed. Please look at the pictures closely. I do not know much about the hardtops for the Willys jeeps.”
Most likely a ’46.
