Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The February 1960 Jeep Service and Parts News is another four-pager. One item on page three that caught my eye was FC-170 frame re-inforcement that became effective with 61568-17824 and 61568-13-10417. Prior to that, a May 1959 (I don’t have) issued announced a kit that was available for frame reinforcement.

“1964 Jeep CJ5A Tuxedo Park Mark IV
51,602 miles, F head 4 cyl engine runs well, 3 speed manual, Warn hubs, new brake system and much work done. Has some oil leaks and needs body work. Includes original owners manual, shop manual, sales literature, and some parts.
NC title, driven occasionally for 3 summers.
Relatively rare, 7000 built of 70,000 CJ5s built over 4 year period. Unique enough to have a dedicated parts list and shop manual.
Sold as “a new kind of sports car”.
It is a CJ5, 4 wheel drive, but with various unique features such as:
1.Chrome trim and bumpers
2. Bendix servo brakes, much larger than standard
3. Single lever transfer case
4. Column shift
5. 2/3, 1/3 split seat
6. Alternator
It is an interesting, fun vehicle, in my wife’s family since new. It deserves to be restored”

“I have a 1946 Willy’s flat fender with a dauntless V6, 3 speed transmission split shift transfer case.. tires r good, runs great. I’ve driven it from Delhi to calaveras co and back with no problems. It does need paint and has some rust, I started patching rust already in the main spots but the salt from the Idaho roads really took a toll on the body. But it’s still a cool jeep. Nothing a little paint can’t cover up 
. Also needs seats, I have a back seat but need front seats.. also have a hard top for it.. I hate to sell it but things got bad for me real quick and need the money.. I’m asking $4000- and probably won’t go down from that price. May be open to trade. Lmk. What u have. Please no junk. I want Something running. Jeep is registered as well”

The 1963 issue of Jeep News Volume 9 Number 5 was eight pages. The entire issue covers “The Greatest Show on Earth”, a short-lived series back by some Kaiser-Jeep advertising. A dealer contest was also held as a part of this event.
This four page issue of the January 1960 Jeep Service and Parts News includes a reference to a DJ-3A kit allowing the service department to install a passenger seat. I wonder how many DJ-3As were sold without passenger seats?

(12/12/2023) This has a variety of updates. Note the unusual u-bolt plates on the back of this build. My guess is that this is any upside down ‘box’ design to protect then u-bolt nuts from being damaged on trails.
“1947 willys jeep. Very fast and very freeway drivable do to awsome muncie 4 speed, shift perfect. 350 chevy corvette double hump heads cam edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, headers. Newer brakes, mastercylinder and power steering pump. Will set for long periods of time and start immediately electric fuel pump. Binimi top. New bucket seats .axle braces. I’ve owned it for a long time its been very reliable.”
This is a post-war Esslinsen rebuilt MB. It’s in rough shape and doesn’t appear to run.
