Thanks to Blaine for spotting some of these jeep-pulling-airstream trailer images. That led me to search for some more. I think my favorite might just be the post from Kaiser Willys, as a wagon owner named Richard Carr pulled his airstream down to Baja, Mexico, for a six month vacation in 2010 and was still there as of 2015. I guess he found his spot in the world!
These were some of Blaine’s finds:
This one is from the CJ-2A page via Photobucket:
Joseph Morton’s description of his jeep trip from Bathhurst, Gambia, to Dakar, French West Africa, was published in the Evening Star, December 26, 1942. Fun fact: I got to know a Gambian ambassador to the US and was invited to Gambia to help work on a school’s computer system back in 2002, but other priorities kept me from going.
Bathhurst is now known as Banjul, Gambia’s capital city. French West Africa is now Senegal. This map *might* be close to the route taken:
Now for the article:
UPDATE II: It appears there were two models of the Cargo-Personnel Carrier. One brochure shows that the Willys-Overland Export Company was the only entity offering this no-door Cargo-Personnel Carrier internationally (no mention of “Willys Motors” on the end of the last page of the brochure, but the bottom brochure’s last page shows both names). Here are the brochures’ cover pages side by side:
Both are currently listed on eBay. Here’s the first:

UPDATE: This is a complete Willys Cargo-Personnel Carrier brochure.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.

“1946 willys jeep /V6 with overdrive n hard top n correct gas tank for jeep”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4650.
May need a little work (seller mentions “some problems”), but looks in reasonable shape.
“1946 Willy’s CJ2c 4×4, This is a classic vintage jeep of Willy’s fame with its 4-134 “Go Devil” flathead engine. This engine was completely overhauled several years ago but has very seldom put on the road. Still starts and idles fine, but difficult acceleration, probably due to sitting too long and moisture accumulating in tank. Has five new correct military tires with less than 20 miles on them. Body is in great shape for a 72 year old vehicle. I have done many things to it over the 30 years I have owned it in order to maintain and give it many parts it didn’t have when I got it.
Has a best top on it which is easily taken down in 5 minutes because I think it looks so much cooler without the top. Transmission still fine as well as the four wheel drive and the high and low gears. Been a long time since I have driven on the roads but start it weekly to maintain it. There will be brake work to do. I had all new brakes, master cylinder and lines put in several years ago, but think all fluid has leaked out. Easy work for the right person. This would be an excellent jeep for someone who desires a full restoration or just to get it on the road again. I have really loved this CJ but it is time for someone else to enjoy. These are Hard to find. some problems but still worth a look.”
Only pics of one FC.

“Military antique Jeep Willy. Unsure of the year but likely a 40s model.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was FREE.
I’m no expert on these, but I think the correct hardtop should provide gas inlet access on the driver’s side? See this pic for an example: http://www.warwheels.net/M151muttHARDTOPLEONG.html . But, hey, it’s free!
“This ad is for a hardtop for an M151 army jeep. It is on the jeep and it will need to be removed. Call and arrange a time to take this away.”
