“This jeep starts right up, might need carb adjustment (idles rich), also needs brake lines bled, and tested.
Mostly original with exception of 12V electric system, this is an original US Army Willys Jeep.
Included in the sale price is the arctic / cold weather hard top and doors. I will consider selling these separately, but really hope the new buyer will restore as a cold weather / MASH M*A*S*H jeep.
Please email specific requests for more photos. Be prepared to prove you don’t live in Nigeria.
The Jeep has a Florida Title”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $4000.
(10/13/2018) Hard to see much with the pics.

“1961 Jeep Willys fair condition good for someone looking to restore it , all original parts!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5800.
“This GPW Runs and drives but the up-keep was done by folks that fixed things with whatever was available. No doubt they were innovators but not mechanics. The motor needs a rebuild; the floor, although will work for some, needs some new sheet metal. The mechanicals need gone through. It is mostly original 1945 vintage parts.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was FREE.
Someone needs to snag this one.
“Free Jeep soft top, not sure what it fits, but I know it doesn’t fit a flat fender Jeep. I got this when I bought my Jeep, the box says 42 MB/GPW but I don’t believe it’s for that either or it would have fit my CJ2A. The doors are flat so I suspect its for some variant of the CJ5. Come and get it. I’m moving and it goes in the trash in a couple of weeks.”
The CIO News out of Cumberland, MD, published a story on March 15, 1943, about the US Army and Navy honoring the workers of Willys Overland.
This photo from eBay Germany shows a couple MP MBs/GPWs with some nice tops sitting outside the Berlin Reichstag.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6000.
The entire body has body liner on it.
“1948 Willy’s CJ2a Jeep. The entire exterior has been rhino lined so it will last forever. The underside has been painted with a truck bed liner for protection as well. New larger gas tank has been added as well as plastics race seats. Runs and drives, but as with most cars this old, could use some maintenance. This Jeep was my granddads and I have loved making it mine, but it’s time to move to a new project. This Jeep is sold as is and buyers will be required to sign a bill of sale.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6300.
The rear bed has been shortened. There is a title “situation”. Still, it looks like an interesting project.
“1983 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler project. Great overall condition. Factory hardtop, bulkhead and doors are in excellent condition, too. With little work this would make a killer rig.
Tub and rear frame have been professionally Bobbed (shortened) which leaves the factory wheelbase intact, but reduces the rear overhang and improves departure angle dramatically…ideal for rock crawling. Looks awesome!
Poison Spider rock crawler armor all around – rear corners, rockers with rock sliders, and front fenders. Body is in excellent shape. Paint could use some attention.

“I have a ’48 Jeep with 6′ Jacob’s blade….and for the last 20-years it’s been used to plow a small mountain driveway. I bought it last year thinking I would be able to use it on my mountain drive. However we ended up paving the road and it’s no longer needed. (In all honesty, it’s been just sitting since I brought it home). In that time the brakes have lost pedal, and I know the clutch needs adjusting. But it does run great has a 12v system, electric fuel pump and tire chains. It’s really pretty cool, and I hate to sell it, but….. Currently it’s at a friends house in Lakewood, so please call me to set up a time to see (buy?) it.”

Derek Redmond shared some more jeep-train and tour jeep photos he’s uncovered on various sites. Cool stuff!
UPDATE: Terry points out that Ford used the marketing term “Sports Utility” in 1966 ads. Previous to that, in 1947, Crosely marketed a “Sports Utility” vehicle.
Crosely (see bottom of the ad):
This 1966 ad for the Ford Bronco has text near the bottom that reads, “Try the Wagon, Roadster, or Sports Utility at your Ford dealer now”. The Sports Utility model is the one with the half cab:
Here’s a 1966 Ford Commercial that identifies each of the models:
Original Post Jan 31, 2019: Dan ‘Scramboleer’ spotted this Motor Trend March 2019letter-to-the-editor about the origin of the term ‘Sports Utility Vehicle’. Essentially, Jeep’s marketing department was attempting to cease the use of the term jeep-like (and similar jargon) to describe offload vehicles. The concern was that it was diluting the value of the Jeep Trademark. So, they came up with the term Sports Utility Vehicle idea. The Journalists took it from there, shortening it to SUV.
At $190 Euros, this isn’t cheap, but it’s a cool toy jeep!
