I like this Trophy Fish Holes ad for the Willys Station Wagon published in the May 1953 issue of Field and Stream, page 69.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7800.
This is a mix of parts. Seller claims the body is a CJ-3A, but it’s an M-38. Those “Desert Dog” tires must be recaps?? The windshield is military, not CJ-2A.
“Chance of a Lifetime? 1945 Willy’s Jeep built by hand with crate parts in 1973. Approx 6K Miles. Runs amazing. Starts right up every time. I am the 2nd owner. Lights and turn signals work. 4wd works. 4 cyl Flathead engine. This Jeep has won a couple car shows. No rust that I’ve seen. Garage kept it’s entirety.
‘45 Jeep CJ 2A Chassis, ‘48 CJ 2A Head Engine, ‘52 CJ 3A Body.”
Runs and drives.

“I have a 1967 Jeep CJ-5 for sale, fairly original, in poor shape, I was going to restore it but the BOSS aka the wife says she wants a 4 seater side by side so I am selling this, It has a 3 speed manual and a 226 V-6 Dauntless engine in it, it runs and drive but it is very exciting, (not in a good way), I have 2 soft doors and a soft top that goes with it, I really wanted to make this thing like new but the BOSS aka the wife says no, I paid $1500 for it 2 months ago and I want $1500 for it now”
UPDATE: There were two CJ-2As available, but it appears the gray one sold.

“1947 Willys CJ2A. Has clear title and vintage tags. Has original-equipment Go Devil four-cylinder engine, new brakes, new suspension, completely rewired with working headlights, turn signals and gauges. Glass is perfect. New fuel tank. Three speed on the floor. Converted to 12-volt. Roll bar, emergency brake, seat belts. Small shackle lift that can be easily removed to bring to stock height. Runs well and stops well. Drive train and 4-wheel drive work. Being the 70-plus-year-old workhorse it is, top speed is 45 mph. Would need to be trailered. Nothing fancy; far from perfect, but surviving civilian version of the vehicle that helped win World War II. Come out to the ranch in North Central Washington and take a look at Grandpa’s old Jeep. Cash sale, as is, where is. $4,500.“

We’ve replaced the engine, new fuel tank, fuel lines, master cylinder, brake cylinder, radiator, carburetor, battery, rebuilt starter, hoses, fan belt, fixed gages, water pump, rebuilt generator, fixed front suspension problem, rebuilt the steering box, done most of what needed to be able to drive. It’s still a work in progress”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
(04/11/2019) Seller lists this as a 1953 M-38, but it appears to be a CJ frame with a replacement body.
“I have a 53 Willy’s m38 for sale. It is in good condition overall. No rust, great tires. F head engine has been put in it hence the hole in the hood. And the steering is backwards due to a steering conversion gone wrong before I got it. Nothing that would be very hard to fix. Have the original steering column. Runs great. I was going to restore but priority’s have changed.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
Needs work.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $1400.
The $1700 price includes the rear PTO and gearbox (I’m assuming the seller is selling the rear gearbox, the shaft, and the PTO … this might not be the case). Without it, the price is $1300. The PTO is also listed separately here.

“48 cj2a with rear shaft PTO,not running ,some rust.$ 1300 without PTO,Bill of sale only”

UPDATE: Barry Thomas managed to hunt down a copy of the movie in Paris. He is hoping to share it at a couple of jeep events this spring. Learn more at his farm jeep.com website: https://www.farmjeep.com/revolution-in-farming-and-in-pleasentville/
===============================
Original Post Dec. 14, 2012: An issue of the “American Farm Youth” (1947 Volumes 13-14 Page 34) mentioned this movie.
Revolution in Pleasantville, a motion picture describing the role of the Jeep in farm mechanization, has just been produced and made available for showing to farm groups. The revolution depicted in the film is one taking place all over the . . .
Jeff spotted this FC-170 lurking in the background of the TV show “Bless This Mess“. The premise of the show is, “Newlyweds Rio and Mike make the decision to change the course of their life together and move from the relentless pace of big city New York to what they think will be a more relaxed existence in rural Nebraska.”
Maury spotted this sign on eBay. The neon has been removed, but still a neat sign. The seller believe this was a temporary sign created just after WWII, but given the post WWII signs I’ve seen, I’d guess early 1950s or later would be more likely.

“Vintage Jeep Willys Sales Service Auto Dealer Neon Sign 1940s 1950s USA . Condition is Used. This is a truly authentic, post-war Willys Jeep dealership sign that was was created fresh after the end of WWII. This sign is hand painted, not porcelain and was more than likely used for the dealership here in St. Joseph for a short time right after the war as a ‘fill-in’ then shortly retired. I say this because the paint is remarkably bright and not faded.

(04/20/2019) The M-38 has a few updates. This might have a set of Kelly Hubs.

“This is a well maintained 1946 CJ2A that runs well and is kept in the garage when it is not being driven. Title is clear and Mileage is about 79,000 and climbing since it is usually driven for short trips every week or two during the summer. No front end shimmy. Frame is solid and bumpers are straight. Electrical system is the original 6 volt configuration. All gauges work along with headlights, taillights, blinkers, horn, and dash light. Heater and heater fan work well. The winch was manufactured by Sears and is operated by a hand crank. The body is in decent shape and would be a good candidate to restore. It has a hard top with doors that are easily removed by pushing out the hinge pins and the rear upper gate removes like a storm window. The entire cab can be removed by unscrewing four large wing nuts around the back, and two j-Bolts holding the roof to windshield frame. There is a modified bus seat that fits nicely in the back for more passengers.
Also included are lots of new and used parts such as clutch and pressure plates, clutch rebuild kits (still in WWII packaging), front axels, U-Joints, Carburetor, differential (New still in cosmoline), new in the box sealed beam headlight, starters, tie rods and ends, water pumps and much more….
If responding by email, please put “JEEP” in the subject line so my SPAM filter doesn’t catch it.”
UPDATE: Still Available. The seller is a friend of Glenn’s. Per Glenn, the seller “really wants to sell this nicely restored Jeep and will listen to a reasonable offer knowing he will not recoup costs.” If you have questions, feel free to contact Dave at drault58@myfairpoint.net.
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3800. Seller has master cylinder that needs to be installed.

It’s a 2WD project with a solid looking body. This looks like a good restoration candidate.

“Willys jeep, 1940s? Ran when parked ~10 years ago and now seized. Rough body. No registration. Sold as-is. $950 OBO.”
If you are looking for a non-stock 2A body, this could work. It’s one of the repro CJ bodies with the passenger side tool indents and military-like glove box on the passenger side of the dash.
