Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1952 M38A1 military Jeep. the Jeep was originally Air Force Blue when my Grandfather got it in the 60’s. He put an early 60’s Buick 174ci V6 in it. It was only used for elk hunting for a good 20 years and was always garaged. Last year it got a fresh paint job new top, tires, seats, seat belts, wiper motors(2) and exhaust. Brakes have been redone and new master cylinder. It has been n the family for a long time, just sits n the garage and doesn’t get driven.”

A patent for the distribution of barbed metal band from a short wheel base vehicle, preferably a jeep or jeep-like vehicle, was filed in 1955 by the Acme Steel Company.
“The purpose of the present invention is to provide novel apparatus by which barbed metal band may be formed in a continuous process and distributed as it is formed in the place and arrangement in which it is to be used. A further object of the invention is to provide apparatus for distributing barbed metal band according to a prearranged plan and supporting it in the arrangement in which it is distributed. Another object is to provide portable apparatus having means for forming barbed metal band from a supply of fiat strip ma terial and for distributing the barbed band and arranging it during the travel of the apparatus. Other objects relate to various features of construction and arrangement which will appear more fully hereinafter.”
This August of 1957 ‘Jeep’ Vehicles Help fight Disease! brochure was another one I hadn’t seen. It amazes me how many little known brochures are still out there. It’s an export form, with form number MFS-8-57-X

This is a mix of parts. Seller claims the body is a CJ-3A, but it’s an M-38. Those “Desert Dog” tires must be recaps?? The windshield is military, not CJ-2A.

“Rare 1949 Willys Jeepster Pheaton Convertible. Runs and Drives. Come take a test drive around the block. We’ve replaced the engine, new fuel tank, fuel lines, master cylinder, brake cylinder, radiator, carburetor, battery, rebuilt starter, hoses, fan belt, fixed gages, water pump, rebuilt generator, fixed front suspension problem, rebuilt the steering box, done most of what needed to be able to drive. It’s still a work in progress”

(04/11/2019) Seller lists this as a 1953 M-38, but it appears to be a CJ frame with a replacement body.
“I have a 53 Willy’s m38 for sale. It is in good condition overall. No rust, great tires. F head engine has been put in it hence the hole in the hood. And the steering is backwards due to a steering conversion gone wrong before I got it. Nothing that would be very hard to fix. Have the original steering column. Runs great. I was going to restore but priority’s have changed.”

The $1700 price includes the rear PTO and gearbox (I’m assuming the seller is selling the rear gearbox, the shaft, and the PTO … this might not be the case). Without it, the price is $1300. The PTO is also listed separately here.
