Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is your opportunity to own a piece of history. This is complete frame off 1948 CJ 2A Willys from the ground up. I spared no expense in the process and thought I would have it for the rest of my life. It sits in my garage with a cover over it. Never been off road or in sand. Just a Sunday drive once in a while. It is head turner. Restoration included: L134 engine, T90 3sp. transmission, transfer case with High/Low range 4×4, brake system including wheel cylinders, all u joints, front end, rear end, custom seats, and gauges. Inside tub was done and then added bedliner on the floor and undercarriage. I have pictures of the entire restoration process and a blue title.”
This December 12, 1947, ad was published in the Sullivan Daily Times by the Citizens Garage out of Indiana.
This Pennzoil ad was posted to Facebook by Mario. It is dated July 17, 1944.
The windshield sits a little far back for some reason. Otherwise, it looks like a solid jeep.

Just replaced the carburetor, all the lights work, tires are in excellent shape, with a nice spare. This vehicle was my husband’s baby but he doesn’t have the time for it anymore. This April 20, 1962, article in the La Habra Star highlighted Sam Winner, Frances Hughes, and Cruz Gomez, who had recently completed the two-day, 300 mile Hemet Run and camp-out. The planned to followed that up with the Indio Jeep Run in May.

“1943 Press Photo Jeep toying US Navy Hellcat aboard an aircraft carrier. This is an original press photo. Autos – Jeeps – Somewhere off Wake Island – They say there’s nothing new under the sun, but here’s a picture of a Jeep, familiar to all as one of the most useful of the many instruments used in this war to date, at a novel task – that of jockeying a “Hellcat” aboard a carrier. This was one of the “flat tops” used to pummel the Japanese on Wake Island, October 5-6. Note two other similar ships in the distance Photo measures 8.5 x 6.5 inches. Photo is dated 10-15-1943.”
