Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This ’62 has a circa 1957 KS 0-9 speedometer. This has some floor rust.

This 1948 brochure indicates the Champion post hole digger (aka an Earth Auger) was manufactured by the Southwest Equipment Company out of Los Angeles, California. According to a 1948 filing, the company was operated by Kenneth J. Browne.

“This is your opportunity to own a piece of history. This is complete frame off 1948 CJ 2A Willys from the ground up. I spared no expense in the process and thought I would have it for the rest of my life. It sits in my garage with a cover over it. Never been off road or in sand. Just a Sunday drive once in a while. It is head turner. Restoration included: L134 engine, T90 3sp. transmission, transfer case with High/Low range 4×4, brake system including wheel cylinders, all u joints, front end, rear end, custom seats, and gauges. Inside tub was done and then added bedliner on the floor and undercarriage. I have pictures of the entire restoration process and a blue title.”
This December 12, 1947, ad was published in the Sullivan Daily Times by the Citizens Garage out of Indiana.
This Pennzoil ad was posted to Facebook by Mario. It is dated July 17, 1944.
The windshield sits a little far back for some reason. Otherwise, it looks like a solid jeep.
