“1947 Canadian Willys-Overland print ad Willys Jeep. Original paper item measures 10 X 14 inches (approx.).”
This Willys-Overland of Canada Limited wagon ad is listed as a 1945 ad, but given the wagon wasn’t introduced until mid-1946, I’d say that date is a mistake. The text mentions the “new, rugged Willys Trucks”, which weren’t introduced until mid-1947. That style of wagon was used in numerous 1948 ads and the Willys-Overland graphic made an appearance in some of the 1948 ads, too. The lack of any mention of the wagon being a jeep is curious, as Willys-Overland didn’t make a big push on dropping ‘Jeep’ from its advertising until late 1949.

“All original WW2 Jeep. Complete and running. Includes new military non directional tires mounted on original combat rims. Includes matched spare tire also on combat rim. Top and seat covers were recently replaced (new original style). Was told engine has been recently rebuilt and probably has less than 200 miles on it. Appears to have been originally painted olive drab, but has since been painted Navy gray. Had planned on returning paint color to olive drab and purchased 1 gallon of paint which will be included in sale. Bumpers are in very good condition and very well could be originals.
Brakes work well enough to stop it, but could use some maintenance. Has been stored under cover. Park brake not hooked up and lights will need to be rewired. Original 6 volt system with 8 volt battery.”

UPDATE: Still Availalble.
(02/05/2019) Seller includes pics of the rebuild on the ad. Brakes need fixing.

“This is an original RARE 1961 Willy’s Jeep CJ-3B. The last of the flat fender. Frame off restoration, engine rebuilt, new transmission, new transfer case, new shift tower, new exhaust, new suspension, new battery, and so much more. Frame and body is coated with an expensive rust proof paint, then primed, and then final paint. My husband poured his heart, money and soul into this jeep, with intentions of keeping it forever. This is not an altered or modified jeep, it has been purposely kept original for value sake, which is what makes it so rare. He has kept all the replaced components and has invested over $15,000 into this, plus two years of his time and labor. Open to offers, but please don’t insult me, this is worth every penny. Need to sell ASAP thanks“
UPDATE: Still Available.
(10/24/2019) Looks solid.

UPDATE: There’s an interesting story about the making of this commercial; it almost didn’t happen. It was shot in the same town where Murray shot Groundhog Day, just two weeks before the SuperBowl. Murray calls it his first and last national commercial.

Original Post Feb 2, 2020: Maury alerted me to this funny commercial. Hope you all enjoy it.
This ad appeared in the February 20, 1948, issue of the Oxford Leader, out of Oxford, Michigan.
UPDATE: Note the comments below. The engine wasn’t original to this model and the grille has the vent hole, which didn’t come out until later.
Nice looking truck that has both a winch and a rear PTO gearbox.

“1959 Willys Jeep Truck. Very solid body/frame with newer complete paint. I have many pictures of body as we sandblasted everything to white metal to show how solid the Jeep is/was before painting about 8 years ago.
327 V8 from 1969 Camaro with Edelbrock torquer intake and Edelbrock street carb. T90 3 speed transmission.
Comes with 1976 Scout II Dana 44/3:08 front (disc brakes) axle with all parts to renew from knuckle to wheels. Also Turbo 350 transmission with shift kit completely rebuilt and Chevy gear to gear HI/LO transfer case all these extras to be installed by buyer to handle the horsepower and torque of the 327 engine. Runs 70mph on hot July days and no problem with overheating. There is a lifter noise that you need to consider before buying decision is made. The Ahooga horn you see in pictures does no go with Willys as I have had it for 45 yrs and is a heirloom of sorts. The original Willys horn was working when I put Ahooga horn in truck. UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.
May need additional work.
“1960 Willys Jeep in Good condition. Runs well with a rebuilt less than 2000 mile Hurricane F head engine With a new head installed and the block Magna-fluxed at the builderWestcoast engines in Oxnard CA. Radiator replaced with high-efficiency aluminum. The clutch replaced at the installation of the engine. Shifts and drives 4X4 operates as it should. Brakes are out but will be redone this week, brake cylinders and shoes plus anything else I find during inspection today. parts arrive Monday. I also am replacing the cracked steering wheel, horn and button to be determined.
Fuel system cleaned and oil changed as the jeep was sitting on my property for two years unused. I am negotiable on the price I am starting at the average I have seen them going for won’t charge any extra for the bullet hole. The more I improve the jeep the less negotiable I will be. I have many extra parts plus a complete engine, needs rebuild, Solex carburetor, odds and end’s that I would include with negotiation.
I just don’t have the time and ambition for this jeep, other projects I’d rather do.
Thanks for reading and I will update pictures as I go along.”
This collect of cars caught my eye. The prices don’t seem crazy either.

“1947 Willys CJ2A Flat Fender Jeep
V8 Chevy Engine conversion, Pertronix ignition, Summit electric choke carb, fenderwell headers, runs well.
35″ tires on true bead lock wheels, also has inner liner for running very low tire pressure.
Drive train is all stock.
Have a Scout 2 front axle assembly and a Chevy 4 speed truck tranny with a granny 1st gear that goes with the Jeep.
Have a 9 slot Military grille that goes with the Willys.
This is a total project vehicle that does run & drive, however the brakes do not work at all and the front tires rub on the leaf springs when turning.
I have too many projects, this is a very cool old Jeep that could be one hell of a four wheeler with some work, the granny 4 speed that goes with it will make it good for rock crawling.
$3,500 or best reasonable offer.
Would possibly trade for a good running performance big block Chevrolet, will trade up or down.”
This has a DJ-3A body and front clip. It may be a DJ-3A chassis, as it appears to have the rear tank in back. So, it may have a DJ-3A that has been converted to 4WD.

“Frame s/n 10248 good condition, no title, no motor, front and rear propelled axles with drive propellers, T90 transmission, model 18 transfer case, shift levers damaged, by previous owner, both cases will need to be gone thru for possible repairs. Body has holes in flooring and in hat channels, but can be readily repaired with just a little mig welding skill. 4 good CJ rims, axles roll easily. Also offering a CJ2A early block, s/n 23555 if not wanted, will deduct 200$ from 800$ total! Block has no cracks, face original never resurfaced, no pitting on head gasket surface area.”
Given we can see the cement floor through the gas inlet, I’d say this may need some floor work.
