“This is a near all original cj2a with m38. It is hard to tell which model because of the mix up of parts during their creation. The engine is an iron duke from a postal Jeep. Extra transfer case and parts included. I HAVE PAPERS and a powertrain from a 1990 yj 2.5l I wanted to swap but never got around to it for an addition 1000$ I have a ton more photos available. The windshield frame is rotted aswell as the floor pans. Though fixed poorly they are solid. The top has since been removed. Car is not running”
John spotted this half-cab equipped CJ-5 plow jeep.

Posted December 24, 2020: This article provides more information about this stunt Jeepster and plane. It was published in the March 20, 1949, issue of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

The Sunkist Lady was an Aeronca 15AC Sedan airplane flown by Dick Riedel and Bill Barris used to set a world-record for endurance flight. They spent a total of 1008 hours and 2 minutes aboard the airplane, ending their flight in April of 1949. Unfortunately for them, their record was broken six months later.
What makes this relevant for jeep fans was that to keep the plan in the air, the crew used Jeepsters borrowed from local dealers to race down the airport runway so the crew could hand fuel and food to the two pilots.

Matt spotted this cool, rare calendar from Kaiser’s Argentina arm. Sell will consider offers, but the buy-it-n ow price currently is $349.90, especially given this is coming from Argentina where the exact same item is priced at US$71.20 (61,702 Argentine Pesos).

This “J” logo with the Willys sign is odd, as the Willys sign is shown moved to the left. Usually, the “J” portion of the logo “hangs” off the Willys logo.

“I have what I believe is a earlier 3A for sale. 3A style frame anyway, I could poke through the other differences to tell for sure.
On the positive side, I did get it running and it starts and runs quietly. Original Carter carb. Not a lot of modifications made except for a few very serious modifications that may or may not be a lot of work to correct.(like the fenders) The dash etc is pretty straightforward with a minimum of holes drilled and things of that nature. Seat frames are good, hood could be okay for a driver. Grill has a little dinger in one of the bars that could be bent back. Older but still soft mud tires on 15” wheels. Drawbar is nice. Great oil pressure. I think basically someone was using this jeep for plowing and taking care of it mechanically until they weren’t. It had clean oil etc in the engine. The starter was missing so perhaps that is what took it out of service.

(06/16/2016) “99% original, never restored. New roof canvas with doors, motor was rebuilt about 5000k miles ago. Runs well. Have spare hood in good shape, 2 good used front fenders ready for paint, spare radiator, spare steering box, assorted miscellaneous other parts, and stretchers.
Been in storage for 5 years, gas tank drained, has silicone brake fluid.”

“Kaiser Manhattan VS57B supercharger, with bracket/idler. This is the forerunner to the Paxton SN (Short Nose) blower. My dad pulled this off a car (no idea what) in a junkyard probably 50 years ago. The VS is Variable Speed, with a solenoid under the cover that adjusts the inner sheave of the drive pulley to change its diameter and drive speed. The “B” indicates it’s from a Kaiser Manhattan, regulated to 4 psi of boost, and has a 6-volt solenoid. Condition is unknown, but it rotates freely, as does the idler pulley, and should be considered a rebuildable core. I’ve got a 50-year old belt you can have to figure out the size. Will ship on your dime.”
Here’s a great retro item for a stock rebuild that Andy and TJ spotted.

(08/30/2023) Simone emailed me about selling a CJ-3B that’s been in the family for three generations. The DMV notes the jeep isn’t in the system, so the family couldn’t apply for a lost title. The DMV told them to go the affidavit of loss route in WA state (unsure about other states). The pics do show it has a serial number data plate. If you have questions, email Simone at staff @ davisinvestors.com (remove the spaces around the @) (or here
