“1946 Willys CJ2A, v6, 4spd, front disc brakes. I bought the jeep site unseen from an auction. The auction claimed it only needed a battery, which wasn’t true, and I’ve never tried to get it running. The doors (not pictured) are inside the jeep. It came with a New Mexico title, but it is now a Wisconsin title in my name. $3000 (will sell separately)
1940s Spen Model H trailer. This is the civilian equivalent to the Bantam trailers, only more rare. I’m not sure if the side rails are original, but they are well made. $1200 (will sell separately)
Willy’s running gear from a 53 pickup. The radiator, motor, transmission, transfer case, starter are sitting on a pallet and can be started the way it sits using a temp fuel can. I also have the front and rear axles with four newer leaf springs. $1200 (will not sell separately until the after the jeep sells)
Will sell everything for $5,000 or reasonable offer. Located in Black River Falls, WI.”
Not many of these crankshaft-powered winches around.

“1957 fc150. Bought this as a project it’s got new floors and corners welded in. Body is close, no rust. Frame is solid. Motor ran recently but is not currently wired can show video of running. Have older VT registrations but no title should be able to get one. I planned to finish this but priorities have changed. Have Complete New wire harness and all parts to put this together except headlights that I can not find. New exhaust also installed. Bed and fenders and gas tank all included. Bed has some rust but not too bad. Have all glass but rear flat glass is cracked”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $8000.
(04/05/2024) This former ice-racing jeep got modified. The former owner’s son-in-law had some opinions about this on Facebook … “This was my father in laws jeep. If you knew Smitty you knew the proud ice racing history this jeep represented. Now it is a total piece of crap?. It is sad to see someone take a piece of local history and shit all over it…” ..

To this, which is for sale:
“After 8 years I am forced to give up my street rod project. 302 specification 4 bolt small block. Scrambler axles street geared, chrome side pipes…’98 Mustang convertible top.
Call to discuss I must accept probably nobody would finish what I started….the engine was supposed to be the best part when I bought Dirty George, a famous Colorado retired Ice Racer. Z28 spec 350 appears new inside, sounded great, but when it warmed up the engine “locked” and does so every time until it cools to restart for 5 minutes.
Duntov 40-40 cam, double hump heads etc. Big Holly leaks and would not be suitable for street use anyway…lots of spare parts one driveshaft is too long the other is too short after center-out transfer case was added with new torque converter on rebuilt transmission. 331 Jeep Scrambler axles replaced the 4;88 gears. Disc brakes. Power steering Chevy tilt steering column. Diagnosis is that rings were possibly not gapped properly on new pistons or too tight of skirts on the rebore. Scope down into spark plug holes indicates fresh parts. Oil pressure is great when running it is not the crank that seizes when it warms up. It had sat in dry storage for many years before I had a dream.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.
(02/27/2024) One of them is setup with a rear facing PTO.
“Toying with the idea of selling both of my jeep fc170s. The brown one will fire but will need some tinkering to get it running. The green one has been sitting a bit so I don’t know what it will take to get it going. Paperwork for both, the green one has the rear pto, the brown one has all the parts there to make it complete minus brakes and new tires. $5,500 for both of them.”
UPDATE: This rig has undergone some updates. See the pics from 2022 at the bottom of the post.

We had a busy weekend. Next update will be LATE Tuesday morning, as I ran out of time Monday night to do updates.
UPDATE: Given we’ll be busy all weekend, here’s a look back at the tenth(!) anniversary of our trip through California…
It was ten years ago this week that we were visiting Dan Horenburger, viewing his collections, then tramping up to the former M*A*S*H location near Malibu, before meeting a lost Romanian woman. Wow, does time fly!

Blaine shared this MB rebuild video by Al’s Garage. There are a few deviations from stock, but still it’s clear a lot of time was put into saving this old MB. Kudos for documenting this as getting the light and other details correct while focusing on rebuilding is a tedious task!
To view the video, you’ll need to go to Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5XbCjy4nW4
Youtube has a video of the music sung by Valerie Hines and set to a montage of African American WWII service photos:

There are two of these Jeep Parts’ postcards available on eBay. Given the FC-170 and the split window trucks and wagons, I’d say this is a 1958 or 1959 postcard.

According to this thread, the words to the song are as follows:
Jeep Jeep thats’s what they call it, Just needs a G.I. to hold it,
Bounc-ing o-ver road and lane, driv-ing this tune round my brain.
Have you ev-er tried THE RHYTHM OF THE JEEP its a gal-lop and a wriggle not a creep,
You must find a lease.and-len-der, who is just a sol – id send-er but be carefull you don’t end up in a heap
When you hear a rat-tle and a little hoot Then its time for you to shake a dainty boot—-
All the book-ies will be leap-ing and the Ser-geant Ma-jor weep-ing
When they get THE RHYTHM OF THE JEEP
You bend your knees– and then you boog-ie to your partner with a Beep – Beep – Beep – Beep, You cud-dle up,
but you had bet-ter watch your drivin cause your’e tak-ing a ride in a Jeep.
Jack and Jill no long-er ling-er on a hill
Now-a -days they’re Su-sy -que-ing with a will
At the Palais you will find them with the gang all there behind them Jiv-ing to THE RHYTHM OF THE JEEP——
John spotted this solid looking CJ-3A.

“1951 JEEP Willy CJ3A – Runs and Drives 💯 %, From North Carolina , frame solid , really no rust at all , a few small surface spots on body, new Carburetor, new wire harness, new shocks and leaf spring in front of, have the rear but not installed comes with vehicle, new tires and wheels, new speedometer, have all paperwork for new owner, inspection was done, great Willy, don’t low ball, if serious msg me!!! Parked in doors year round!!”
TJ spotted this survivor that runs and drives. Has an F-head. It’s listed as a 1948, but the body may be CJ-3A, though it looks like the radiator attaches from underneath, so it might be a very early 3A.
