UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $6800.

If the floor patches aren’t too bad, this is worth a look.

1956-cj5-hall-tn1 1956-cj5-hall-tn2 1956-cj5-hall-tn3 1956-cj5-hall-tn4

“For sale I have a nice example of a 1956 Willys CJ5. This is running, driving, Jeep that is in good condition for a 64 year old vehicle. It runs, drives, shifts, and stops like an original 1956 CJ5.

The drive train includes the original L134 Willys Hurricane 4 cylinder, original T-90 three speed transmission, original T-18 transfer case (High/Low), Dana 25 front axle, and Dana 44 rear axle. The transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch operates as expected. The front axle has locking hubs. The electrical system has been converted to 12v.

The tub does have rust, some of which has been addressed by a previous owner’s DIY repairs. The rust is primarily in the floor and associated braces. However, this does not affect the drivability.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.

The body looks good in the pics, but I’d check out that driver’s side front frame rail, as to me it appears to angle outward. Still, there could be value here.

“57 Willy’s jeep apart to rebuild the engine. Engine is totally rebuild and ready to be put back together. I have no time and it is taking up space in my garage. Everything’s there for the jeep.”

“Original hardtop AND doors from a 1963 Willy’s CJ5. I believe it will fit any older CJ5. Original white paint. No rust other than light surface corrosion where paint has been dinged. A small dent in passengers side rear corner.

Pictures of doors will be supplied for serious buyer. They are in the garage rafters and I will have to dig them out.

If you happen to be doing a restoration of a CJ5 and need a motor and tranny I will have the excellent running original F134 motor along with 3 speed transmission available in the near future and would make a great package deal for everything. Motor is 100% Complete and is running still in the vehicle. We could drive it to show how well it runs. It would also come with a brand new radiator, hoses, air cleaner etc.”

1955/6 CJ-5 Brochures

• CATEGORIES: Advertising & Brochures, Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This brochure was part of the family of brochures described in this Kaiser/Willys ad post from a few days ago. Curiously, this brochure is labeled form W-239-6, suggesting it was printed for 1956, while the original version of this was form W-239-5.

After comparing the two different versions, I could only find some minor differences between the two. The ‘biggest’ difference was a slight repositioning of the text within the balloons on page 2 of the brochure. Form “5” had misplaced the text slightly, with a few letters extending above a couple balloons. Form “6” seems to have fixed that. It also appears that Form “6” uses a bolder font for the text in the balloons. There could also be some minor differences that I did not detect. Here’s my comparison of the balloons:

1955-form-w-239-6-vs w-239-5

So, now I know I should have bought a W-239-5 version if I wanted the original! Another lesson learned the hard way 🙂 … anyway, here’s the scan of the W-239-6 version:

Runs and plows.

1974-cj5-plowjeep-vt2

1974-cj5-plowjeep-vt1

“1974 Jeep CJ5 plow Jeep. Runs/plows/stops. Pretty rough shape but plows like a beast.

Tires are dry rotted, but have very deep tread and hold air fine. Chains on rear.

New starter and recent points/cap/wires,etc.

New F + R driveshaft Ujoints.

Has block heater, but starts pretty good even with out it.

Body is rough, has wood floors but actually a very solid repair tied into frame and body.

Frame is OK

Good mechanicals, has only 16K miles. I was told that it had never been registered and was only used on a large property for many years. I have been plowing my driveway with it for 6 yrs, it has moved a lot of snow for me and will for you too!

Only reason I am selling this cool old plow Jeep is because I bought a K5 Blazer with plow in very decent shape that is roadworthy. I needed a spare rig I can use year round and tow my small boat within the Summer.”

“This is a 1963 Willys Tuxedo Park (Mark III) – the reason I say clarify is that they apparently made this model before the well known chromed-up, column shift, Elvis driven in the movies type ’64 model (Mark IV Tux – when they sold to Kaiser) everyone recognizes as unique. This one is the year earlier by Willys in ’63 of the same Tuxedo Park badge and some of the upgrades to appeal to the wider “upscale sporty” audience.

It’s got the 60/40 seats (redone beautifully), it’s got the original hood badges, and supposedly had much of the chrome at one time. Again it was the transition unit to the Mark IV. It’s been about 90% restored, and mostly original, but little bits here and there are replica parts.

Barrett-Jackson Jeeps at Scottsdale 2020

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, FC150-FC170-M677, FJ, Jeepster, Wood bodies This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Several Jeeps are being auctions at this year’s Barrett-Jackson event in Scottsdale. The first few have yet to be auctioned, but some of the latter listed have already been auctioned. The CJ-2A’s price was particularly obscene.

1.  1957 FC-170
1957 Jeep FC150 4X4 with a 134.2ci 4-cylinder Hurricane engine and a 3-speed manual transmission. It features a deluxe interior, USB port and a power plug. This Jeep received a frame-off restoration.
1957-fc150-bj-az

2. 1957 Custom FC-170
Lot #1559.1 – This is a 1957 Jeep Willys that has received many modifications. A modern Chevrolet V6 engine with a 3-speed automatic transmission and conventional differential converts this former off-road vehicle to a highway cruiser. The FC stands for Forward Control. It was produced by Willys Motors, later named Kaiser Jeep from 1956-65. A very neat custom interior finishes off a great truck. It includes a former M101 military-style trailer. It features chrome gas cans and its own parking brake. Both truck and trailer are painted in Mercedes-Benz Andorite Gray.
1957-fc150-bj-az2

3. 1960 CJ-5 Wood Body (here’s a previous link for this one):
Powered by a 4-cylinder engine with a manual transmission. Completely custom-built with maple and cherry wood; 1-inch-thick wood glued and screwed every 4-inches and covered in 10 coats of varnish. **SOLD ON BONDED TITLE** **TITLE IN TRANSIT**
1960-cj5-woodbody-bj-az

4. 1960 Truck:
This 1960 Willys Custom 4×4 pickup underwent a frame-off restoration documented with photos. It’s powered by a 350ci V8 engine backed by a Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission. This custom pickup features front disc brakes, power steering, Scout front axle, 3/4 ton rear end and Rough Country suspension. This solid California Willys pickup was completely stripped down and disassembled for paint. Its exterior was professionally painted in Viper Red paint, while the pickup bed and underside of the body were given a red-tint LizardSkin coating. The exterior features Smittybilt front and rear bumpers, custom Fuel Wheels and brand-new Renegade all-terrain tires.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $16,500.

Bill’s got this nice looking truck for sale and he provides a detailed review of what’s been done to it.

1951-truck-va1 1951-truck-va2 1951-truck-va3 1951-truck-va4

“For sale is a restored 1951 Willys Overland pickup truck which I’ve owned for the past 18 years. The truck is a four wheel drive, 1 ton model with a 3 speed transmission and 2 speed transfer case. It’s powered by the Willys ‘Hurricane’ engine and still retains its 6 volt electrical system. Everything works on the truck as it should and it drives and stops fine. It’s been garaged for the past 22 years with the last 10 years in a climate controlled garage.

It’s an older “body off frame” restoration that was started in 1998 and was approximately 90% completed in 2005 after which it was stored for 15 years. I finally completed it this past summer. Unfortunately, some of the work that I had originally completed years ago had to be redone due to the length of time that it sat. It’s only been driven approximately 19 miles since I’ve owned it. Before contacting me, please read below for ALL the details on what work was done and when it was done. And, yes, you CAN drive it home if you want.

Canadian Made CJ-5s

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Barney Goodwin of Barney’s Jeep Parts brought up an interesting bit of history regarding Canadian made Kaiser Jeep CJ-5s for the US (and Canadian?) market.

He wrote, “Your Canadian made Commando brochure post got me thinking. A customer of mine in my hometown of Houston has his dad’s ’69 CJ5 bought brand new at Woodie’s Jeep in Houston .

And, it was made in Canada!

Dave, the only reason I can think this happened is that Toledo had a military contract(s) they were running at the late 1960s and required the Toledo capacity. Around that same time, Kaiser Jeep had a short contract for M-151A1 MUTTs, contracts for M-274 Mules, and contracts for the Kaiser Jeep M-35 Deuces. Keep in mind it was also the first year for the Postal D100 Dispatcher DJ-5A. All of this was before AMC bought Jeep and moved government products production to Indiana as AMGeneral.

Kaiser Jeep’s solution? Shift the production of CJ-5s (and other vehicles?) to Canada.

Below is a picture of the data plate for my friend’s 1969, the one bought in Houston. Note the location of it and size. It’s right below the regular VIN plate on the firewall.

Most CJ-5s of that era had the 4 holes already punched in that location and they exist on our Toledo made 13,000 mile 1971 CJ-5.

If anyone else has insights into this, we’d welcome them!
