UPDATE: Still Available.
(08/18/2020) Mark posted this mostly original M-38 at warjeeps.com. It does have some floor patches.
https://semo.craigslist.org/cto/d/sikeston-1950-willys-m38-g740-army-jeep/7256366271.html
“The jeep has some rust through in the floor and hat channel on the passenger side. It does have some floor repairs already done.
It Has the following:
24 volts electrical components. All three seats, Pintle, bumperettes, spare tire carrier, jerry can and holder, top bow brackets, first aide box, gas tank (needs cleaning) four m38 wheels, engine lifting bracket, Carter 637s carb, correct vacuum fuel pump, under hood battery box and other original parts.
The engine runs well without any smoke. Running it on a auxiliary fuel tank now.
Most of this work was done some time ago and has set. Due to it setting, some of the seals are starting to fail.
New or rebuilt parts:
Engine,
Fuel pump,
Carburetor
Front axle (needs the shims checked again)
Brakes (lines, wheel cylinder and master cylinder)
Transmission
Transfer case
Exhaust (short pipe, long pipe and muffler.
Has matching number title in my name.
Things it will need:
rewired and Tires”
In the May 25, 1941, issue of the Des Moines Register, Iowan reporter Donald Grant describes his first ride in a jeep (Ford GP). Also included is a short article about three Iowan kids who died tragically during the previous weekend.
This combo sold on eBay for $62.89. It features what appears to be a Leddy Willys MA model jeep + a built Ford GPA (possibly a Leddy model also). I was about to make a $110 bid to buy both just before the auction ended, but then I noticed the model box had no top. I thought that hurt the value, so declined to bid. I may regret that as the chances of finding another Leddy MA model probably isn’t very good.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.
Unfortunately, the driver’s side portion of the body has been hacked. The serial number of 8505025 identifies this as a Right Hand Drive DJ-5.
85: Code for Universal CJ-5
05: Open Body
0: Place holder
2: Right hand drive
5: F-134 with emission equipment (and a data plate confirms the emission equipment).
“1969 Military Police Jeep Right Hand Drive DJ5
We started to restore it but no longer have the time.

New Carburetor put on needs to be adjusted
New hoses, fan belt, air in take hose to go on.
Changed all fluids, did tune up.

I started to sand it to have it rhino lined military green. We also have vendor for windshield glass & gasket.
Asking $5000 OBO”
It seems like a good restoration candidate.
https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/phoenix-1943-jeep-willy-jpmb/7260477002.html
“Breakdown:
– Runs and drives on original engine and transmission.
– Mostly Original Parts
– Comes with a ton of history and documentation on the vehicle.
– Perfect starting point for a partial restoration with relatively minimal work.
– Majority of issues are cosmetic (From my understanding)
– It’s an old classic car and needs an owner who loves the jeep heritage and wants to return this vehicle to its original glory.
I am open to best offer and some negotiation. I am unable to deliver the vehicle, it would need to be picked up. I inherited this vehicle from my grandfather and it has been in many small parades. I unfortunately do not have the time to spend on the vehicle and don’t want it to waste away when it could be with someone who will have the time to work on it.”
I’m amazed at the unrestored condition of this trailer.

A buick V6 has been added to this 3B.

“VERY RARE WILLYS HIGH TOP WITH DAUNTLESS V6. THIS WILLYS IS A TEXAS JEEP. I BELIVE IT IS THE ORIGINAL PAINT. RUNS AND DRIVES VERY WELL”
UPDATE: As Keith notes, this is actually a M-38A1D (Nuke model).
This M-38A1 is setup as a hunting vehicle. It has a set of Easy Lok hubs as well.

“Converto ½ Ton Airborne Dump Trailer with original data plates. The trailer is in good condition for its age with some rust on the back tailgate, see pictures. Tires are dry rotted and will need to be replaced. Trailer rolls free. Not sure if the taillights work as I have never tried to hook them up. The previous owner put a piece of sheet metal on the floor, unknown why, but it is rust free underneath. The hitch has been changed over to a regular ball type. I do not have the original military hitch that was on the trailer. Included with the trailer is manual, new data plate, and hard to find items, the dump handle and lubrication pouch that mounts on the front. Trailer does not have a title but will come with a Georgia Bill of Sale”
I’m not sure if this has a data plate that pinpoints the date as 1943 or if that’s just a guess. I suspect Acme only manufactured the tongue?

“Original 1940s ACME built Willys Jeep trailer. It has been sitting for some time and definitely needs some TLC, nothing a little sheet metal, a grinder and a welder can’t handle. Perfect winter project to get your Willilys ready for car show season”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $14,000.
Joe in Mesa’s friend Vern is selling his GPW. Joe reports that Vern, whose father was in the OSS, is a history buff who knows his stuff, so this should be a pretty accurate GPW. Why only $14K? Well in addition to the light harness needing to be installed, the transmission leaks (don’t they ALL?) and that bothers him. He thinks it should be pulled out and re-gasketed.
“1944 GPW, Everything is correctly F marked. No aftermarket parts, New Firestone tires, New highend wiring harness, Lights need to be wired and connected. The kit for that comes with it. Arizona title. When all is said and [done] it’s a really nice jeep; runs very well, can’t think of too many problems with it. Asking 14K. Firm.”
UPDATE: Thanks for everyone’s quick input, we’ve solved this mystery. This particular grille is a 1969-1971 grille (see more in the comments).
Darin posted on Facebook this grille with tear-drop shaped parking light holes.
The catalog number for this Warn Hub document is 2-55, which might mean February of 1955. It shows the WL-2 Locking model on one side and the WA-1 Automatic model on the other.
UPDATE: I found this 18-page Warn Selective Drive Hub Service and Repair Manual on eBay last week. This appears to be an earlier version (February of 1955?) than the PDF version linked to at the very bottom of this post (which covers WL-2 and WO-1 hubs). It covers the WA-1 Automatic Hub and the WL-2 hub. This is document No. WD-255.
This looks to be a Willys-Overland produced matchbook that allowed dealers to add their names. In this case, Ike’s Haugland Motor Company out of Wheaten, Minnesota, added its brand to this matchbook. The interior of the matchbook was the biggest surprise to me, as it listed the 9 reasons why the jeep can do all it does.
These are interesting, but seem pretty high priced at $360. One photo reportedly includes Delmar Roos.
