“(3) jeep willys cj2a. Lots of parts! $45”
Nick visited the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage State Park, Long Island, New York, and took these photos for us.
Here’s a video from the Museum’s website:
Nick wrote, “Right when you walk in and scattered throughout with the heavy artillery are a number of well preserver/restored jeeps. The second vehicle you see when entering is a nice GPW. Then, there are blue and yellow newer-looking jeeps (looked like a 3a and an m38a1), which they drive and use around the park. The museum has a very nice OD m38a1 and an M-718 ambulance jeep. They also have an M-274 Mule, a Mighty mite, and an MB.
They have several volunteers that restore the vehicles and many are driven around. And, if you want to take a ride in a tank in an old battlefield setting, I believe you can for a reasonable donation (think it’s like $125).
Here’s a GPW:
This M-38A1 looks well restored:
This CJ-3A? may have an aftermarket hood. It looks like there’s possibly a “Follow Me” M-38A1 behind the blue jeep:
This appears to be an MB:
And another MB amongst a Commando car on the left and an M-151 on the right:
This photo shows Police Chief Schrage in the new Burbank airport “Follow Me” jeep used for the escort parking of aircraft. The aircraft in front of the jeep is a Lockheed Hudson, also known as a Lodestar. Note the camouflage in background. The photo is an 8 x 10 in. black and white photograph.

This jeep has a custom dash that looks similar to the aftermarket dash sometimes seen (mostly with California jeeps).

“1946 Willys. 6 cylinder, overdrive, 2 new gas tanks, winch, 4 speed transmission, runs good. The bad news is that the windshield is cracked, but I have a replacement ( just haven’t installed it ).”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $5000.
(03/08/2021) Seller installed a new engine, but it’s not clear to me how much the rebuilt jeep has been tested.

“Bought and fixed this willys with the hope that I would enjoy off roading, well just not my thing. It’s a 1947 willys Jeep cj2-a. I stuffed a 1971 corvette 350 in it with aluminum radiator, electric fan, pertronix electronic ignition, Taylor spark plug wires, new water pump, thermostat, and a brand new starter. Has a Saganall steering box, new intake manifold and a edelbrock carb. She fires right up although she can be a little cold blooded but once it’s warmed up she doesn’t fail.
Tires are 31’s and still in good shape, it has new brake lines all the way around, new master cylinder and a new slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch, has about 55-60 psi in oil pressure and runs about 180-185 degrees. Bikini top is fairly new, no rips or tears, seats are in great shape. I made custom seat mounts so you can move them forward/back and tilt.
Also has a 8000lb winch mounted up front with its own cut off switch. Looking to sell soon so I can move on to my other toys I rather play with. Has been out of the system for years. I can proved a bill of sale, I also have an appointment on Wednesday to do a vin verification with CHP to get it titled. $6500 obo”
Lots of custom work here.

“Selling one of a kind vintage powered, all steel square tube chassis with full air ride linked rear end with Ford 9”, powered by a 1956 Hemi 330 with dual carbs, 4 wheel disc speedway brakes, Torque flight 727 transmission , fun car to drive and always draws a crowd.”
Still needs a little work.

“Just in time for spring!
Here’s your chance to finish my winter project. I purchased this here on Craigslist not long ago, it sat for a while planned non-op. I towed it home and brought this great hard to find Flat fender Jeep CJ3 back to life. All the hard things have been done with finishing touches left.
I have another project and this one has to go.

Update sold: was $700.
Runs.
“Vintage Hobart gas powered welder. Powered by Jeep Willys engine.
It’s probably 1950’s era.
Runs and welds perfect. Comes with leads and mounted on a trailer. Located at 3519 Edison Way, Menlo Park.”
Listed as a CJ-2A, it looks more like a CJ-3A. Oddly, this has a circular fuel inlet, but I can’t see anything else that makes me think this is some kind of 1) DJ body or 2) replacement body.
https://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/d/albuquerque-late-1940s-jeep-willys-cj-2a/7294203948.html
“Jeep Willys CJ-2A for sale, original engine and transmission I believe. Possibly a 1948 (missing tag on firewall for identification.) No title – but none needed for a 1948 as far as I know. $4800, and buyer tows from the yard.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500
(11/08/2020) This has a replacement body, along with some updates.
“1953 Willys cj3b. This is a very clean old Jeep, with loads of new parts. It’s on about a 10 year old restoration has the 231 Buick v6 with a three speed plus overdrive. Brand new clutch, new fuel tank, new complete OE wire harness from kaiser Willys online, new ignition switch, headlight switch, front disc brake conversion, and it comes with the conversion for the rear. It runs and drives well, but will still need some tinkering to be 100%. This is one of the cleanest old jeeps I’ve seen. Has new tires all the way around. Come and see it you’ll be driving it home. I’m asking $11,500 obo. Possible trade for a nice 4 door pickup, or Toyota suv”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $5000.
(03/09/2021) This seller appears organized. Both Jeepsters look packed for pickup.

“I have Two Willys JEEPSTER projects both are 1950. I have enough parts to build both vehicles. These are two door four seat convertibles (Phaeton) style vehicles. These are very nice custom builder projects with pallets of spare parts. One body is on a highly modified original frame with four wheel independent suspension and four wheel disk brakes. The other body does not include a frame and can easily be fit to a Toyota Four Runner chassis or something similar. A zero time Mercedes-Benz 300 Turbo diesel engine and transmission are available at an extra cost”
UPDATE: Still Available.
(03/09/2021) Some more pics of the jeep would be useful.

“1942 willy jeep MB
Original engine runs real good just had a tune up on it. Comes with both door and Rag top and windshield.
Bought as a project jeep but ended up fixing up my other Jeep!”
This potato sack sold for over $60, though I don’t know the exact selling price. Jevon Aasand (1921-2000) owned the Aasand Potato company, but I’m not sure who owned/managed the Jeep’s Best brand.
Columnist Russ Leadabrand thinks the jeep is the best way to see California. This column appeared in the June 29, 1960, issue of the Pasadena Independent:
This National Archives photo was taken on Iwo Jima in February of 1945. The Original Caption read: Duck Row—Enroute to the front lines, a stretcher jeep travels a matting runway as it passes a pool of amphibious trucks near the beach at Iwo.
In 2018 when driving south from Philadelphia to Delaware, a reader recommended we stop at the northbound welcome center along I-95. Unfortunately, as we were driving south, we got a little confused, then we realized that to turn around was going to take more time than we’d allotted. So, we never got to see what was at the Welcome Center.
Yesterday, someone posted a picture of a Jeepster that sits inside the Welcome Center, so now we know what we missed! We’ll definitely stop on our next trip, should we head north on I-95.
The placement of the speedometer is farther to the right than stock, so this likely has a replacement body (https://cj3b.info/Dating/Dating1.html).

Here’s a late model (sold in 1964, so titled as such), Tornado-powered wagon. It hasn’t been run for a couple decades. A trailer is available with it if desired. I tried to validate the serial number, but couldn’t locate a good source for 1962/1963 wagon serial numbers.
“1964 Jeep Willys wagon. Initially sold in 1963. 91K original miles on original engine. We are the 2nd owner, purchased in 1965. It has not been driven or liscenced since APROX 1997. “1949 Willy colleter Jeep v6 p/s 3 speed runs great in great shape for a 72 year old Jeep 4×4 works all the lights work fun Jeep cheaper then a razor and can drive on the street and will hold its value”
A lack of a battery suggests this isn’t running? Not sure how the seller concluded this was the Jeepster’s predecessor (I suppose, technically, wagons proceeded Jeepsters, but this wagon was definitely post Jeepster). This wagon includes a gov plate.

“1959 Jeep Willy’s 4×4 Delivery Panel Wagon. Great restoration project for a piece of Americana. This is the predecessor of the Jeepster. Because this is the Delivery Panel Wagon model, the tailgate opens with two doors for easier access. Has a Ramsey Winch and wood paneling inside. Has the Super Hurricane Motor. Call for showing or more pictures”

“I’ve worked very hard on this project for four years, but I’m honestly getting burned out. I want to sell it to someone who is as interested as I was four years ago.
I have almost everything new needed to build the jeep minus the fenders… Some is already installed some is in boxes (bought it ahead of time) steering wheel, new clutch, even the broken star stencils with all the lettering. I also have a rear bench seat which is slightly rare.
Frame: new brake system, rotors, rebuild trans. Rebuild diffs, rebuild transfer case.
Body needs sheet metal work. The top is a lot nicer looking than underside. (I have new floorpan and channels).
Engine was stripped bare and painted black.
Shoot me offers! I have about 10k invested, was hoping for at least half. Cash only please. Thank you for looking.”
