“There’s a Ford Pinto motor in it that ran when it was parked last in Arizona but needs work to get running again. Lived in Southern Arizona for most of it’s life so hasn’t see much moisture. Needs fuel line, battery, ignition, carburetor”
After a week+ with our well out of commission we once again have well water. The culprit was our well pump, which had lost its bearing. Reassembly of the well pump took an extra day as our pump is a 3HP 40GPM pump, which took extra time to find. I also learned our that our water table appears to start about 6′ below the surface and our well is sits at about 110′.
I am not all that familiar with well-setups, but the “George’s”, our well guys were both named George, were impressed, with one telling me that he now wants to set up his well water system with a cistern and secondary pump so he can keep the water pressure high (when the irrigation is running our water pressure is still strong for showers, etc).
Meanwhile, I got more wiring done on the FC. I also built the bracket to hold the e-brake line and the fuel pump, which is now mounted closer to the tank.
Finally, I snagged a few new brochures off eBay, so I will share those in the next week or so. I should have some updates Friday morning.
Pulling the well pipe. The well head sits right next to the shop:

“HOBART WELDER on HEAVY DUTY TRAILER powered with Willy’s 4-cylinder FLAT HEAD JEEP ENGINE. $225 OBO. CASH IN PERSON ONLY: So you are getting the welder, the trailer which carries the welder and a complete Flat Head Willy’s 4 cylinder Jeep Engine & radiator All For One Money. The welder housing covers everything nicely and the engine looks nice and is complete. This was bought as a project last year. Other things have come up leaving no time for the project. Maybe this is your new project? There are no welding leads or accessories. I have never had anything running. I don’t know if it will run or work and I’m not taking the time to mess with it. The ask price reflects that fact. I can pick up everything and set it in your truck or trailer with no hassle. Thank you for looking at my add. Times being what they are, I need to add this paragraph: This is an in-person cash only sale. Not interested in trades. What you see is what you get with no warranty expressed or implied. Scammers are not welcome, so don’t waste your time or mine. If it’s listed, it’s available so don’t ask.”

UPDATE: This was originally posted back in January of 2020:
This August 1955 article in Popular Mechanics includes 2 CJ-5s. It took a nuclear scientist to locate the article (long story), but it dove tails nicely off yesterday’s Willys News post that included an article on uranium mining (last page of Willys News) about these two prospectors.
Seems like a solid jeep.
