Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This year marks the 55th annual Mile-Hi Jeep Club’s All-4-Fun event, a week-long event that changes locations each year. An appeal went out to the International Flat Fender Club in the hope of finding some more vintage jeeps to enjoy the experience. Registration is currently open, but closed June 30th. The cost is $500 for the week, July 31-August 7.

This post card, possibly from August 29, 1966, shows travelers in a Hotchkiss (most likely), modified into a tour jeep.

This CJ-5 looks pretty stock, though the V6 has been added (looks like a good install). It includes a good Kelly hardtop and a Warn OD.

This 1947 green machine is amazing…basically rust free (wish i could say the same), paint and interior are above average. “Jeepster 1948 Willy-Overland built only 10,000 of this vehicle in 1948 its first year, this phaeton body style was a two wheel drive vehicle built from 1948 to 1951. This jeepster has been modified with a 4×4 running gear from a 1950’s 4×4 jeep wagon. The engine is a early Chevrolet 327ci. Parts I have that go with the jeepster is a 4×4 auto trans 700r4 with starter, a new soft top complete with side curtains. the jeepster is complete starts and runs on a (PNO) with clean title. Body is in good shape the only body mods was to install the V8, its a build to build to your liking. All sold as one no parting out price is firm cash only”

UPDATE: Chuck called on this ad. The owner says his grandson listed it, but the owner is not interested in selling it. Was listed at $4500.
This “all original” truck sports a V-8. It also has a gov plate. A forest-service shaped sticker suggests this was likely a forest-service vehicle.

UPDATE: Here’s an article published December 27, 1958, by the Honolulu Advertiser which tells the story of Henry’s gift to his wife.

Original Published October 20, 2020: A March 29, 1946, article highlighted a Jeep U-Drive business that opened in Honolulu. The first surplus jeeps sold could only be bought for business use by veterans. Roy L. Mongeon, from Hampton, Massachusetts, who was stationed in Hawaii, decided to purchase twenty jeeps. After a number of soldiers asked to drive his jeeps, he decided to open a jeep rental business.
I thought this ad was interesting, as it promoted the chance to win two free trips to Japan, an offer that probably had little appeal, other than in Hawaii.It was published in the March 12, 1959, issue of the Hawaii Tribune-Herald.

“1954 Willys CJ3B jeep. The tub was a replacement tub in 1994. The dash was removed from a stock 3B and installed. The grille, hood, and tailgate are factory “willys” Autometer “Phantom” gauges. 2014 Corvette seats with power and heated. Full roll cage. 2003 GM LMN-4 all aluminum 5.3 engine with less than 1000 miles on it. Turbo 350 transmission connected to a Dana 300 transfer case. J/B twin stick conversion. Lokar automatic shifter. Ididit stainless steel tilt column with custom wood steering wheel. Remote fan powered transmission cooler.
Power saginaw steering. 4 wheel disc brakes, all brand new, also has the new electronic emergency brake for the rear brakes.Dana 44 front and rear with 4:56 gears with Eaton e lockers F/R.The rear end is a full floating unit, Warn hubs front and rear. 2 1/2 inch Black Diamond lift springs, I also have a new set of Holbrook and hardware that will go with it.Like new BF Goodrich 315×70 R 17 tires on new aluminum wheels. Warn’s latest model of the 8274 winch 10,000 lbs with synthetic rope. NOS Specialty jeep top that was Kayline. Rear seat included but not installed.
