UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $12,000
“This Jeep has been 95% restored. All the mechanics was done by Edgewater Jeep and the paint was done by Sunshine Custom Paint. All the chrome was done by Collins Custom Plating (including the pot medal) and there is a lot of chrome including engine parts. This is a great Jeep to have. It is 2WD (not 4WD) drive. The Jeep has “3 on-the-tree”, left hand seating. This is NOT a postal Jeep. It has the “I” beam front axle, which is the old school Jeep”
The paint job makes it difficult to tell, but it looks like the side panel on the driver’s side is a bit rough (rust?) at the bottom edge. The top sure fits funkily …
“Great 4×4 vehicle! This Jeep has a v8 small block 283 2bbl carb. 1,600.00 obo for more info call(530)432-9277 (ask for steve) or e-mail sjdana@live.com”
The body looks wee bit rough, but it sounds as if the drive train will get you where you want to go.
“Its a 48′ Willys CJ2A that has the following: Full roll cage, RCI 5 pt. harness with seats, and quick release steering wheel. The engine is a chevy V-6 4.3 with power steering and 3 speed tranny. The suspension is Rusty’s leafs and shocks, around 6″ of lift. Front axle is a Dana 30 with super lift hubs and rear axle is AMC 20 with 1 piece axle shaft. Both have 4.88 gears and lockers. It has 4 wheel disc breaks, steel braided lines, and custom drive shafts…”
Here’s a project CJ-3B. The pics don’t really show enough to know if this is a good deal or not.
“Selling my project 1964 cj3b. All parts are there and its all original except seats and wheels. No body rot but needs some sheetmetal work.Contact Scott@ (530)257-3630. $900.00 OBO”
Here’s a good looking, fairly stock CJ-2A.
“1948 WILLYS CJ2A FOR SALE. CLEAR TITLE, RUNS GOOD, CAN BE LICENSED AND STREET DRIVEN. ASKING 3000.00 OBO”
A reader sent me to a Craigslist-like website for the sale of all kinds of items in the Phillipines (I’ll save that discussion for a post tomorrow). Along the journey, I came across the website for MD JUAN, a Phillipine based company that some of you are probably aware of that does jeep restorations and supplies parts to resellers all over the world, including North America.
So, it’s clear that at least some jeep body parts are being exported from the Phillipines into the United States through 5 different US Resellers. Moreover, the company has been in business in some fashion since 1967, so it’s been doing it a while. So, perhaps there is some way to work with those importers to bring in stainless body parts (for those interested in non-Jewels stainless)?
Also interesting, MD JUAN sells 1945 MBs. No price is listed, however they do include an email address.
This looks like a nice straight, non-abused CJ-3B.
” 64 CJ3B with all factory stock drivetrain. 134 F-Head Engine. Gears are 4:27 ratio. WITH 31,013 ORIGINAL MILES. Everything works with the exception of emergency brake and gas gauge. There is no top with this Jeep. The Jeep Runs and Drives EXCELLENT! I have added a Rancho 2 1/2 inch lift with Ranch R-S 5000 Shocks. Tires are Interco Super Swamper TRXUS radials mounted on what I believe are vintage Jackman 15X10 Wheels. Alson has new factory style exhaust system. This is a very quiet, very solid Jeep CJ. The body has 2 small rust holes on the lower right body tub…”
UPDATE: This sold for $4,995 on 01/11/2009 on eBay.
This CJ-3A only reached a high bid of $3,550 during the last auction attempt. I was a little surprised by that, but it’s also not been restored to ‘original specs’. It looks nice and is back on the auction block.
“1949 CJ3A in extremely good condition. It has be in body off restoration for 13 years striped to the frame. It had the usual rust in the floor pans, new steel was welded in these areas. Also new under body rails were welded in. The frame was in good shape and the floor and the rear fender well are in good shape. After the body tub was completed and before installed on the frame it was completely undercoated with a rubbery undercoat. Both front and rear axles were completely disassembled and rebuilt….”
All original CJ-3B with rebuilt engine. The body appears a bit rough in the pics and there appears to be rust along the passenger side.
“1958 CJ-3b Willys Jeep. Engine rebuilt Spring 2002. All original, what you see is what you get. Needs engine tune-up, ran when garaged. Body needs work. Tires are 33 x 12.5 BF Goodwrench MT’s- not new condition. Is a great trail vehicle, or a great restoration project. Serious inquiries only. Price negotiable. Must sell, moving soon. ”
No obvious issues with this CJ-3B.
“1953 WILLYS JEEP RUNS GREAT! WARN HUBS, WARN WENCH, SOFT TOP W/DOORS GREAT CONDITION. NEW SEATS WITH EXTRA SET OF NICE WINTER COVERS. 15″ STEEL WHEELS W/32/11-50/15 TIRES. BURGANDY PAINT. NEW PARTS INCLUDE: SPRINGS, BREAKS, CLUTCH PLATE, BERRINGS, REAR MAIN SEAL, FRONT COVER SEAL, BATTERY, STARTER/SELINOIND, IGNITION, PAINLESS WIRING, CIRCUIT BREAKER, DISTRIBUTOR, PIONTS, CAP, WIRES, PLUGS, CARBORATOR, GAS TANK, SENDING UNIT, ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP, AND FUEL LINES. GREAT DEAL”
There’s been a variety of updates to this MB, including the rear bumper, the later model windshield, the radiator, the wiring and more. I’d have to agree with the seller that this might make a good platform for a restoration project based on the pics.
“This is a 1944 Military Jeep delivered June 12, 1944. The original zinc dash plaques match the frame serial. The engine serial is 3J50087. I do not know for sure if it the original engine for certain. It has been converted to 12volt. I started working o this Jeep in 2003. Since then I have installed, rebuilt, or replaced the following.—Engine gaskets, timing gears, mounts, radiator, belt, hoses, coil, plugs, distributor, carberurator, and air duct. Brakes, changed to 11″x2″ duo-servo shoes, hoses, steel lines and switched to dual reservoir master cylinder. Locating it in the stock location with a kit from ATV, retaining the stock pedals. Front axle, wheel bearings, seals and nuts, spindle bushings, steering bearings and felt seals, inner and outer axle seals….”
“This is the second year of production for the first model of the civilian Jeep produced after Wold War 2. It has the 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed transmission, hi/lo range and 4 wheel drive. Optional equiptment includes a back seat, radio, heater, defroster fan, lock out hubs and overdrive. The overdrive offers the flexibility of 12 forward speeds. This Jeep has the original type top, no rust anywhere and is mechanically excellent.”
Given this M-38 is doing duty as a storage unit, it’s hard to tell what the condition of it is. The description is slim, too.
“completely restored..excellent condition…Call (203) 996-9522”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
Empire Tractors were built from parts that are also used by Willys, such as the transfercase (spicer 18), transmission (t-90), differential (spicer 25) and more. You can learn more about the specs for these tractors here. Note that the seller claims these were built out of surplus WWII jeeps, however the t-90 was a CJ-2A tranny, so it seems more likely to me that they shared parts with the CJ-2A rather than built from the MB.
“HERE WE HAVE A RARE 1947 EMPIRE TRACTOR. MODEL 88-90 MADE IN 11-47 SERAIL NUMBER 6352 IT WAS RESTORED ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN KEPT INSIDE ALL IT’S LIFE. THIS HAS WILLYS JEEP ENGINE AND TRANS,AND ALOT OF OTHER JEEP PARTS IN IT,THAT ARE ORGINAL TO THE TRACTOR. THESE TRACTORS WERE BUILT AFTER WWII OUT OF SURPLUS ARMY JEEPS. THE PAINT SHOWS SOME WEAR . THE TIRES ON BACK ARE ORGINAL AND FRONTS HAVE BEEN REPALCED. COMES WITH ORGINAL LIGHTS AND GENERATOR IN A BOX. IT HAS HAD ONLY 3 OWNERS AND RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE IT SHOULD, READY TO USE OR SHOW. THIS COMES WITH A BELLY SICKLE MOWER,THAT HAS NOT BEEN USED IN 20 YEARS. 3500 FIRM. MY NUMBER IS 660-267-3282 THANKS FOR LOOKING”
UPDATE: Price has dropped to $4000. The seller incorrectly calls this a CJ-3B. This has been sale for 9 months.
“Great little Willys in great condition with a soft top. 495-2809 or 880-7929 ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $200.
These appear to be some chrome headers in good shape.
“New (never installed). Ford 289 / 302 headers to jeep. May fit other applications.”
The seller has either the model or the year wrong on this jeep.
“New paint, runs great. Custom seats, new top, custom wheels worth $1200 themselves. Drives great. Nice seats that makes it a nice ride. Worth a lot more than the asking price and would cost a lot more to restore one to this conditon. This is a head turner. Looking to move and need to sell. Serious buyers only.”
This is a pretty high price for a project that still needs the engine rebuilt (among other things done). I’m kind of wondering what part of this is rack n’ pinion.
“Must sell asap due to medical reasons. CJ3B High hood jeep. This is a project car and would be really nice once finished. Dana 60 rearend, front disc brakes, rack n pinion, top loader 4 speed, boxed frame, engine needs rebuilt 69 ford 302.
Asking $3500 or Best Offer. Please call Mike (971) 404-4047 anytime”
The grille and other parts might be older, but the body looks like it is newer. Note the tailgate in the rear and the gas inlet on the driver’s side, suggesting this is more likely a CJ-2A body or later.
“World War II Era Willys Jeep, 14,000 miles, Flathead 4 cylinder engine, 4 X 4 works great, Tires in good shape, Runs Great goes about 50 miles an hour, wouldn’t take much to get it to its original condition, Chris (435)659-0292”
Happy New Year everyone (at least somewhere it’s the New Year). New Year’s day marks the official one year anniversary of eWillys.
Over the past year I’ve met lots of new friends from all around the world, written about 1400 posts, nearly finished my own jeep, and only pissed off one reader (that I know of :-)). I feel like I’ve successfully hit my goals this year: to create a website that follows the older jeep & jeep parts market so that I and others can better understand the market demographics — what’s for sale, how much they cost, and more. Along the way, I’ve tried to make it interesting, amusing and educational.
Based on the feedback I’ve received, you all seem to be enjoying the site thus far. My 14 year old son swears to me that one day he was walking down the street in downtown Salt Lake City and heard two guys talking about the eWillys website and how much they liked it, which he thought was pretty cool.
Over the next year, I hope to continue to deliver interesting information, improve the site (especially those drop down menus which stick within firefox), and expand the content in new directions.
Finally, I really really appreciate all the readers who have provided endless helpful feedback, suggestions and information. I try to keep this site updated on 24/7 basis as best as possible and sometimes I make mistakes in the process, so always feel free to drop me a line, and I’ll respond as quickly as possible.
Have a wonderful 2009 everyone!
– Dave
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
This looks good for a $1500 running jeep. I’d drop in a battery and starter before buying though.
“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A,the Jeep will need a new starter,a battery to make it road worthy. The engine is in great shape, the tranny and the 4×4 are in great shape, the brakes system is in good shape, the jeep has new military tires size 16″,the steering system is not original and the tub will need some welding, but it is drivable as it is.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500
This seems a great price for a good looking CJ-5.
“61 willys jeep 2” lift rebuilt 225 v6 @ transmission, 8000 lb. pto winch $1500.00 “
UPDATE: These sold for $1200 on 01/06/2009.
Two jeeps for one price. The jeep pictured looks pretty stock and the body appears fairly straight.
“1948 and 1947 willys jeeps as a pair. there is enough parts to build one whole jeep. the 48 is the good one with a reworked body in very good shape and good running gear, one engine is cracked and the other turns over good.
