• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1957_fc150_sacramentoThe rust doesn’t look all that bad.  This might be a decent price for it.

“This is a 1957 jeep fc 150. its all original but has some things missing and a little rust. things missing that i noticed are the distributar and speedometer. the passenger door is damage but could be fixed by a body guy, some rust but will be surface only and could all be taken off when sandblasted, nothing that bad, i would suggest removing the bed and cab to go through it, these trucks are very easy to pull apart. its got the original engine and was running about ten years ago. most of the parts are willy’s jeep and can be bought still through local dealers. the seats are there and there’s a few extra heads in the bed. i noticed a bunch of spare parts in the bed, i will get an inventory soon. call me if your interested, ill try to answer any questions, erik, 916-218-9187, $ is negotiable and i will deliver it!!…”

“Great project or parts Jeep.No engine, trans or hood. One of the nicest body tubs I have ever seen. This body has no rust out, even the hat channels are solid. It’s a rolling chassis on 16″ wheels.Put your drivetrain in it or use the body on your Willys. No sense spending alot of time and money fixing up a rusty Jeep when you can get a rust free one.$750.858-705-1878”

UPDATE:  The price on this jeep has dropped to $2500. **SOLD**

I was driving through Caldwell the other day and the dealer was just parking this jeep as I sped by the lot.  So, I couldn’t resist turning into the lot to take some pics.  Of course, after walking up to the jeep, it took only a couple seconds for a sales guy to come over and offer his help.  He tried making a couple points about the jeep, which I gently pointed out were incorrect.  I then provided him with some information about the year of the jeep and how it differed from a military version.  He got quiet after that. Though I didn’t tell him, I would say it’s way over priced.  I wouldn’t pay more than $1500 for it as, for starters, the front of the frame at the point of the grille on both sides has been welded, re-welded, and cross welded.  Here’s some pics.

1950_cj3a_flagstaffNot to make fun of the paint job, but I really thought something was creating shadows over the jeep.  Then, I looked at an interior pic and saw it had a strange camo paint job.  I thought, ‘wait, that’s not on the outside of the jeep’.  But, I was wrong, it is indeed some type of camo on the outside.

Reader Builds — Troy’s nicely modified CJ-3A & race jeep

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, Racing • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

troy_shipman_racejeep1UPDATE:  Troy sent along a couple pics of his race jeep also.  There’s one to the right and one down below.

Below is Troy’s street and trail CJ-3A.  It’s been modified in a variety of ways, including a Dana 60 in the back, a Dana 44 in the front and lockers all around.  Troy buys and sells stainless steel in the Northwest and is trying to decide whether to start adding more stainless steel or not to this jeep.  His biggest concern is if he starts dressing it up too nice, he’ll be too afraid to bring it out to the trails.  If this jeep does start growing stainless steel fenders, I doubt he’ll suffer too much as  Troy will still have an opportunity to get dirty playing in his flat fender racing jeep that he calls “Twisted”.

Also, if you seek any stainless steel parts for your CJ-3A or CJ-3B, Troy assures me he can get them for you.  You can contact him at jeepfrk50@comcast.net

Barrel Racing in the Tacoma Dome Jan 16 & Jan 17, 2009

racejeep_tacomadome2008This weekend, Friday January 16 & Saturday January 17th, 2009, members of  the PNW4WDA will be holding barrel races as part of a Monster Truck show at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma Washington.   As you can see from the 2009 schedule, most of the races throughout the year tend to be in fairly remote locations, making them pretty private; This race provides a unique opportunity for the general public to see these unusual jeeps.  To the right is a link to a myspace video shot last year by a spouse of the racer  (I assumed it was from a spouse considering the ‘dumb ass’ comment heard in the accompanying audio).

Here’s a link to a TON of pictures from 2008 Tacoma Dome races on the Moonshiners’ Jeep Club website (though lots of dark and blurry ones too 🙂 ).

1942 Jeepney Sultan, Wa eBay

• CATEGORIES: Unusual This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

1942_jeepney_sultanUPDATE:  It’s back …..

While I’ve managed not to finish my treatise on jeepneys — the draft form of which includes what a person needs to do to import a jeepney and the prices of some older ones — I really don’t believe this is a 1942 Jeepney.  Even if there are parts leftover from said 1942 jeep, most of the rest of the jeepney looks more like a later model jeepney (though it is not like the latest models).   Here’s a little more about Jeepneys.  If the seller reads this and wishes to correct me, please contact me.

“1942 jeepney ,vietnam era Philippines taxi, this is a unrestored original,it has a great running willy four cyl flat head motor, warn high low with over drive, this jeepney is in good running driving condition, overall condition is good some of the chrome needs to be replated it has a dent on back corner of roof, paint is in great condition has all original parts,my family purchased it in around 1974 had it sent to Sarao Motors to add lettering to personalize it and then had it shipped to Seattle it has alway been garaged and has been hidden in our barn since 1984. One of only a handful left in the world, most have found their way into museums. The Jeepney were constructed from US military jeep left over from World War II, This jeepney was constructed by a company named Sarao Motors, the sarao motor company lengthened wheel base added roofs, side curtains, fender skirts and more, they also painted them in vibrant colors and covered them with bright chrome ornaments,”

Reader Builds — A Garage Full of CJ-2As in Wisconsin

• CATEGORIES: Builds This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

garage_robertlangdonA reader named Robert in Wisconsin has provided some pictures of a CJ-2A collection he has put together.  For me, this brought back memories of living in Wisconsin.   In fact, the reason I sold my first jeep was to fund a move to Wisconsin back in 1992.  I knew I couldn’t haul it around and keep it maintained, so I figured it was time to let it go.  I called Wisconsin home for two years and have plenty of fond memories of the Dane County Farmer’s Market, Old World Wisconsin, 40 below temperatures (brrrrr) and the birth of my first son.

Robert has been kind enough to share a number of stories and pictures below.  Many Thanks!  BTW, to the right is the way a garage should look!

#1 – 1946 CJ2A (tan)

1946_cj2a_robertlangdonI got interested in CJ2As after buying a 1969 Series IIA Land Rover a couple years ago (ed note:  shown at the bottom of the post).  I had always wanted a Series 109 Rover and had convinced my wife that I needed one for my beekeeping hobby.  We had been hauling beehives and honey around in her mini van and she’d had enough of the sticky mess and ticked off bees that got stuck in her van.  With her blessing I located a Rover for sale in Minnesota and dragged it home.  I really enjoyed the Rover and put it to good use, but found it was way too big for the garage.  Also, it was right-hand-drive and it made me feel like I was driving in the ditch all the time.  After awhile, I started looking for something a bit smaller that I could still use for the bee hobby.  That’s when I noticed a nice looking 1946 CJ2A on ebay.  I bid on it and won.   The previous owner had done a really nice restoration and equipped it with a vintage Western snowplow.  I never thought I’d need a plow, but it actually ended up coming in handy with all the snow we got that winter.  I’m convinced the plow saved my back from shoveling.  This is the tan jeep with the soft top shown with my dog.
