UPDATE: John informed that he successfully adopted a 1959 CJ-5 that will complete his ‘family’. It looks like it’s a great, straight CJ with a good foundation for a rebuild. Congrats John!
John writes, “Dave, Our new family arrival, a 59 cj5. This unit came without eng. & trans & fer. It will get a Dauntles & org. trans & fer, & O/D. I’ll replace all floor pans , the rest of the tub is very good. It will get a four point cage. Disc front brakes, 11″ rear. Painted to match its stable mates.”
Here’s a few pics:
John shared this ‘family’ photo with me. He noted that he’s hoping to adopt a 1959 CJ-5 to complete the family. You can see pics of ‘Brownie’ (CJ-3A) here. And, some closeups of Brownie here.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $15,000
I can’t imagine there are too many Russian amphibious vehicles in the United States. Apparently this is the 4wd version of the Luaz.
“Used, made in USSR amphibious , lightweight , air-dropable ( with parachute of course 😉 helicopter-transportable military vehicle.Used as a light medevac vehicle . 3 seats, or driver + 700 lbs cargo. Powered by air-cooled 1,2 liter gasoline engine, Runs on unleaded gas with lead substitute.4×4 , manual transmission, locking differential, off-road gear. Front winch =300 lbs load. Speed on road 50 mph water – 5 mph.Can cross lakes, river with current up to 7 mph. Can swim up to 900 ft.Has 12 Volts bilge pump on board Has clean Oklahoma title, Drivable, but brakes need be fixed, Canvas in fair conditions need to be replaced. Has maintenance manual in German.”
This looks in reasonable shape. No title.
“Willys CJ6, first year of this model and close to the 800th of the assembly line. 6 Cylinder, 3 speed with the Warn Overdrive, 3″ lift and 33×12.50-15 tires. Meyers steel hard top and full steel doors. Hi back front bucket seats, front and rear heaters. Late model windshield frame with 2 speed wipers (from 1969-1975). I have collected a lot of parts for this jeep in hopes to continue to the up grade I started years back. The body is very clean, with no rust except the front floor pans (both have steel plate that need welded in). There Is No Title, just a very old Bill of Sale. $3500.00”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1000
The engine is in the back, but this thing looks in good shape. It looks like a deal.
“CJ2 jeep 1946, this is a builder the engine is in the back, see photo. I think the engine has been rebuilt. I took off the valve or tappet cover and it is clean inside. The outside of the block is also clean.”
UPDATE: Mike notes the general consensus on this VEC is that maybe only the frame and running gear is from the ’45.
With a serial number of 10,077, this is an early CJ-2A. Unfortunately, it appears someone spray painted this wildly. Interestingly, it is missing the tool indents.
“This Jeep is the 77th Civilian Jeep manufactured by Willy’s and includes a ” 3 Point Hitch ” for the Farmers of America. The engine is a “Flat Head 4 cylinder that runs good ….no smoke”. The shift for this jeep is a 3 speed on the column. The tires are new and are mounted on original solid Jeep rims. The brakes have been worked on. There has been some body work and the Jeep was painted recently. Mechanically the Jeep is in good condition but will require some tinkering (TLC)….”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
This looks solid. I’m not sure what’s up with the headlights (covers perhaps?)
“1948 WILLIS JEEP RUNS GOOD, ALL ORIGINAL, AND NO SMOKE $3000 OR BEST OFFER”
No doubt the year is incorrect, unless this has been rebuilt on a CJ-2A frame. It appears in good shape.
“This is a rare 1946 Ford manufactured Jeep. Runs good, Top is in great shape. Need some body work due to age. GREAT mudder! What a blast you will have in this one of a kind find!”
The seller indicates this is an easy restoration. I’m less sure about that.
“Good candidate for restoration into a very valuable piece of history. Currently selling for $10,000 plus in restored condition, this is an easy restoration. This Jeep is a late production unit and relatively complete, I can not see any rust through and has been an Arizona Jeep since released from the military 66 years ago. The engine is free, witnesses say it was running just before being parked, the sheet metal has some dents and damage but is certainly restorable, parts are readily available, and all four tires hold air. The original lights in front and rear are there including black out drive and park as is the original light switch. The floors are good and the original 6 volt army generator and large regulator are present. The fuel tank is missing as is the back seat frame. I have a few more pictures. Call 520-360-5074”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $800.
The good news is it runs. No title.
“Bought as a project last year, but don’t have the time for it. It was running, but the battery is weak, pushed it to start it. It is all original, but missing the windshield, oil bath air cleaner and gas tank. The body is in fair condition for the age. The floor pan either needs to be replaced or extensive work on the drivers side. I do not have the title, this jeep sat on a deer lease for a number of years. I paid $800 for the jeep last year, but am open to offers including possible trades for ???? Must get rid of soon.”
This looks like a good price.
“E-mail for details/ questions”
No titles. These are parts jeeps.
“2-1946 willys jeeps for sale, no titles, can provide bill of sale. neither run, but both are complete drive trains. the red one has a buick odd-fire v6 swapped in. great potential here. Can email more (& better) pics. thanks for looking. may consider seperating, but would rather sell both to someone”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
(01/31/2010) “Project. 1946 Willy Jeep. Estate sale, make offer.”
Thanks to Tommy for forwarding me this unusual story. The story is that Californian Tom Wright had an opportunity to save these bumper cars from the Long Beach Pike Amusement Park from going to the dump. According to the coolthings.com website, “he took out the Harley motors, replaced it with 750cc Honda and Kawasaki boxes, and redesigned them to pass city driving standards. His fleet now consists of eight crazy-looking street bumper cars (culled from different amusement parks), all licensed to give your hottest ride a run for its money.” The rumor is that these could theoretically hit 160mph. Personally, I will let someone else find that out!
The below image is from the coolthings.com website and the other pics are from an email circulating around the internet.
It looks a little rough, but solid.
“This is one badass Jeep. Engine: completely rebuilt 4 cylinder, very simple and easy to maintain but still strong enough for a 4×4 off-road vehicle. Runs great! Four wheel drive with modern tires and rims (spare included)
Three-speed, floor starter. Paint is original US Issue Olive Drab Green with a white star on the hood. Its even got a row of machine gun bullet holes below the windshield. Straight out of M*A*S*H. Aftermarket roll-bar and bikini top. Overall its a great antique car with some military nostalgia.”
It sounds like it runs. It needs a few parts like headlights. It has a PTO. It might be worth checking out.
“Fully working rare High Hood with PTO , v -6 buick. 3 speed with T-18. needs clutch, some rust needs to be restored. We are a Fab shop and can restore or customize your way to all out buggy or take it home and have a great project. Other parts available. will consider trades or offers. e-mail or call 406-212-0827.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200
The price looks good on this project.
“i have a 51 willys with a buick v6 in it the jeep was a project truck for offroad but i haven’t had the time to work on it but would make a great offroad rig or rock crawler… the brakes need to be blead and fluids replaced it has new tires and it needs a good fine tuning but will run please call with questions ”
UPDATE: Was $6500. **Status Unknown**
It looks pretty nice, though the ront bumper looks a bit crooked in the pic.
“351 Windsor Ford Engine/20,000 miles-runs great/9 inch Ford rear end/Mustang front end.”
This crawler does head stands!
“This is a freaked out full blown buggy with a ford 351 M, automatic 205 transfer case. Dana 60″s front and rear. hydrolic steer, 40 inch Irocs with bead locks. Corbeau seats and harnesses. UPDATE: **SOLD** Was No Price.
Save these from the pain of a crusher.
“Any intertest in five cabovers”
One of our readers must sell his CJ-6, another victim of the economy. While it doesn’t run yet, it looks much better than when he bought it. Good luck Andy (and I’m happy to see there’s some good bidding on this already)!
“Koenig Hardtop and hard doors.Koenig PTO winch. Bendix brake booster.Front tow-hitch. Heater. Lights work on high and low beam, horns work. Complete original Fhead Willys 134 engine. Solid drivers side floor board, hood, windsheild frame, drivers side fender, rear floorpan etc.. Has rust through on the passenger side which could be fixed with new floopan and rockerpanel but that is the worst of the rust. Also has some small very spot-weldable rust holes down both sides of the hardtop about an inch above the tub. Test lite gives good voltage at battery and coil. One of only 1991 made in ’61. Original sale date was 08-02-1962. Unique look so its not like every other CJ that you see …. ”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
This has a pop in the rear, but otherwise appears solid. It might make a good restoration candidate.
“1962 Willys Pickup. Original 6 cylinder engine. 35,000 original miles. Floorboards are solid, all gauges and lights work. Body is in great shape but does need some paint, primer is showing through in spots. Glass is good all the way around with two cracks on the lower right-hand corner of the driver door and two small cracks up high near the center of the windshield. Seat needs re-upholstered. Has been a great truck for me but has developed a popping noise in the rear differential. I parked it so as to not damage it.”
