I’ve got an East Coast buyer looking for a mechanically sound M-38 or early M-38a1 that looks good. The body doesn’t have to be museum quality (there can be some minor dents for example), but it should look like a military vehicle. The price range is $8000 – $11000. If you know of any sellers, send them my way.
Thanks,
– Dave

(02/06/2010) This Jeep is apart.
“For sale is a 1951 Willys CJ3A. The jeep ran when i bought it but thought i wanted to do a full restore and started taking it apart. The Jeep comes with 2 engines( 1 rebuilt and still on the engine stand), 2 T-90 transmissions, 3 hoods, windshield with glass. Jeep also has front PTO and Ramsey winch from a 1948 Willys CJ2A. Everything is there to put Jeep back together or to continue restoration. I am selling my house and relocating for a job, and cant take the Jeep with me. The frame and body are in great shape and would be a great project for someone with a little time. I also have a 1958 Ford F-100 for sale on Craigslist. I would be willing to trade both for a running Ford Project or cash. I can be reached at (512)923-4026. I will not answer emails due to spam . If you would like to check any vehicle out let me know. Thanks Tom”

Ted contacted me to let me know he has decided to sell Eleanor, his nice, stock, 1947 CJ-2A.
Ted writes, “ I am selling Eleanor, a Late 1947 CJ-2A. #148236. She is a daily driver and runs good. 134 engine, T-90 tranny, 18 transfer, 16’x4.5 rims, with new NDT tires & tubes. Converted to 12 volt, but have the original 6 volt generator & a voltage box. All new brake system from front to back. All new gauges & light switch, still in the box, old gauges are still in her. Warn overdrive (not in), Harrison heater & driver side heater(not in). I put a new heater in 2 years ago before I bought the harrison. New carb kit was put in 2 years ago, and she will start in -15 degree ever time. Tiger top is 2 years old. Has a nice roll bar in her, was going to take it out just never got to it. Has a 3A windshield on her now but have a 2A windshield for her also. Before I bought her, someone put in a bucket seat and cut holes (4’x5″) in the back fender wells for the buckets to fit, wouldn’t take much to fix. I have both 2A seat frames in nice shape with new seat cover, seat pans, foam & hardware, still in the box, also 47 back seat with original cover and springs (no rips or holes). I also have license plate brkt, leather shift boots, hood block and other parts that where made by members here on the form. There is other thing also that I have bought, or put on, just can’t think of it right now. The tool box floor is rusted out, but the pass, floor is good to go. I no for a fax, had kids jumping in it for 2 years. Factory color was mich yellow but was primer grey when I bought her. I was going to do a ground up restore but things have change and would like her to go to a good home.”

Here’s a stock CJ-2A that sold this afternoon.
“Nice original, unmolested 1946 Willys CJ-2A Jeep. This Jeep was owned by a local service station for many, many years, and spent much of its life stored inside. When the owner died, a co-worker and I purchased it and stored it in his garage. He began replacing some of the safety items like brakes and fuel tank, but lost his garage space to his wifes car. I bought him out, and had planned to finish the couple items but do not have time. The engine was running before the old rusty fuel tank was removed. It turns over with good compression, and has spark. The new fuel tank needs to be installed, and a new fuel line run. He also did some work to the brakes, but the lines are not finished (I think he replaced all the shoes and cylinders),. There is also some wiring that need to be replaced (cloth covering rotted)….”
