Here’s a pretty good looking project. It appears some good work has already been done.
“47 CJ2A needs to be assembled. 1.Frame needs brake cylinder kits installed. Have kits. 2 Body has section in tool box under passenger seat that needs patched otherwise it needs small dings fixed. Its in very good condition. 3. Has good windshield and grille and fenders and tailgate. Just need to be bolted on. 4. Engine was supposed to be rebuilt. I put new gaskets in it but ran into problems when I tried to put the oil pump in. It ruined the gears on the pump but have a pump that gears can be taken off of. Not sure what is the problem there. May need a new cam or just a better gear?. Flywheel has been turned and ready to install. Have 16″ rims with old tires for it, but the 15″ tires for pushing it around go with it. Have a steering wheel but needs to be epoxyed. I have too many projects right now so I decided to sell it, but will keep it if I can’t get what I have into it out of it. Body and parts are really nice condtion.”
This looks pretty stock.

ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK THE VIN … THIS WAS A FUN ONE: The seller noted on ebay that this is a ’57, but it has the older, pre’57 dash. That raised a flag. So, I looked closely at the VIN: The first set of numbers are 55268 instead of 453 GB2. That VIN actually belongs to a 1956 Pickup Truck 6 cyl (226 ci) with 4wd with a serial number of 33836. See this service bulletin for the details.
“Very original Willys CJ3B. No body lift, original 4cyl engine, manual lockers on front, 3 speed trans. Color is Red, original upolstry in great shape and this has rear bench seat. UPDATE: I called Steve (see below) and he had a perfect engine for me, a 1985 Buick 3.8L for only $199. Unfortunately, I waited until Saturday to go see the engine and it was sold by then! However, someone else responded to my Ad. As part of a parts liquidation they bought, they have a pair of rebuilt heads that are exactly what I need. So, this should work out perfectly (I should have them by Tuesday and will provide an update then). Hopefully, this resolves the issues with my engine!
(03/25/2010) I placed a I-need-heads-for-my-buick-v6 ad on Craigslist tonight. I got responses right away. I also located an engine (and tranny) for $125, a brand new rebuild engine in Kennewick for $500, and a running engine in Tacoma for $100. It’s been a good day for parts hunting!
Steve contacted me. He’s local (actually lives in Eagle, Id). He’s liquidating a bunch of rebuild motors with new re-manufactured blocks. They are all being sold for $199. You can read more about these motors here: http://boise.craigslist.org/pts/1650718277.html
If you like something you see in that list, let me know and I’ll check it out.
It looks like a parts jeep.
“Project Willys CJ2a jeep. The wheels in it are not included, just there for rolling it around the yard. The wheels pictures in front of it are included, there should be a fourth. I haven’t tried to run it but engine and drive train appear to be there and intact. Please reply though craig’s list if you would like to come see it. Ed”
Here’s a parts jeep.

I can’t tell what’s left to do, but it’s got some good components.
“This is a 1954 Willy’s M38A1. It has a Buick V6 bolted to a Turbo 400 that in turn bolts to a Dana 300 transfer case. The V6 has Hedman headers and HEI ignition set up. This Jeep also has a brand new Hurst shifter set up. It sits on BFG 33-12.50/15 all terrain tires, all tires are in good shape. The front bumper is custom and has a built in tow bar, whoever buys it will be able to tow it away. This was a project that has stalled out. I don’t have room for it, nor the time to finish it. There is work that needs to be finished for it to run. This Jeep will make a good rock crawler platform”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $900.
The seller believes this might start up if the starter is tightened?
“1948 WILLYS JEEP W/O TITLE. THIS JEEP WAS BEING USED FOR HUNTING AND TRAIL RIDING BEFORE TEENAGE BOYS RAN OVER A VIEW TO MANY TREES. HAS BEEN PARKED FOR OVER A YEAR BUT WAS BEING USED BEFORE I BELIEVE THE STARTER WIRE WAS NOCKED LOOSE.”

“1948 Willy’s Jeep body still has original ident tag on fire wall. It has been stretched 16″ in center. It is on a mid 80’s 4×4 chevy s-10 chassis with 3″ lift and 31″ mudders. IFS in front with locker. Front grill is cut out to fit chevy 350 motor and 700r4 tranny with o/d from late 80’s police car. transfer case has 2H,4H, and 4L. Radiator and electric fan are in front of grill area behind bumper. It has power leather bucket seats from a grand cherroke. I have many 4×4’s and this is everybody’s favorite in the offroad parks, it is extremely fast and will get you anywhere. It still needs work that i haven’t finished but runs and drives right now. I don’t think there is anyway it could ever be street legal, the body was bought out of weeds on a deer lease. however it is very light, I tow it easily with 1/2 ton pickup. I am trying to get motorcycle so will sell for best offer. please serious offers only”

“I just bought this Willys so I don’t know much about her other than she was stored inside since 1985 and needs some attention. I think she runs but haven’t checked due to no key or battery in her, she is missing both driveshafts and has some rust issues. I think she would be a perfect restore project for a Willys nut. I am selling all my vehicles so projects are going quick. Shoot an offer and come and see her and decide if she’s within your project realm. They are a nostalgic blast to drive, imagine a convertible 4 wheel drive sports car that wont go down in value, easy to wrench on and cheap to restore. Serious offers only please and no spammers, I dont need a job and want no help selling her thank you very much.”
