(03/22/2010) This looks well put together. I like the way that Pontiac engine sits in the engine compartment. However, I’m confused about one item .. no gauges? See picture 1.
“This is a 1946 WILLYS and man is it COOL! The body is all fiber glass and in great shape. It has a 4 cylinder Pontiac motor. The old guy I am selling it for just drives it in parades but it drives real nice and is street legal. It is very clean I did not air up the tires in the picture but thay are fine.”
UPDATE: Still Available!
(04/16/2010) This might be a great find for someone. This appears driveable now or a great candidate for restoration. This also has a PTO winch.

I’ll let Mark set the stage for these pics. I don’t see the pic of the hungry dog though …. 🙂
Mark writes, “On the tough east side of Houston well behind a blighted salvage yard the old guy said “there’s some Willys behind that fence”. As a newby seeing one pass on the highway is a rarity so when I saw this I just about leaked transfer case oil. 12 in all, the Dirty Dozen. Sorry about the quality of the pics, there was this mean looking dog, and he looked hungry.”
Dan shared some images updates on the progress of rebuilding his grandfather’s CJ-5. Truly, I don’t know how he finds the time as he always seems to have nightly craigslist links to share with readers (many thanks for those!). See some past posts about Dan’s project here.
As you can see, Dan has rebuilt the Hudson steering column, painted the front end, and readied the front end for an updated disc braking system. NICE! This will should look great when finished. Thanks for sharing …
This is interesting … that looks like an VEC CJ-2A body at the very least. I’d like a serial number on this one.

“1959 Jeep FC150 for sale. Jeep is in restorable condition and comes with a bed full of spare parts. All glass is good and have extra. Vehicle does not run and has not been started for about 10 years. Interior is fair. Vehicle will need a total restoration. Has good wheels / newer tires and also comes with original wheels. Engine, trans., driveline all intact. Truck is very solid. Vehicle can be seen in Richwood, Ohio upon request. Trailer in photos is also avaiable for $1500.”
Mark spotted this project. As Mark noted, this appears perfect for those bondo-challenged rebuilders among us.
“I have a nice 1948 Willys Jeepster project up for auction. The owner of this car had me store it for him over 3 years ago and I haven’t heard a word from him since. By now the storage fees out way the value of the car so the car now belongs to me and is for sale. There is no title for this car due to this situation and that’s why its listed in this section. NOW THE GOOD. The car was painted at a local car dealership and then moved into my climate controlled shop and has been here since, just like you see it. It looks like it was painted yesterday. Body is great, all of the yellow and black painted parts seen in pics are ready to reinstall. The frame was stripped and repainted black when the body was done. A great car to start putting back together. Other parts include the engine, radiator, convertible top frame, seats, moldings, glass, tons of small parts, etc. We were told it was all there when it arrived. Not being an expert, it’s hard for me to say. I cannot find a VIN number, frame numbers etc, but all seems to be original as we were told by the last owner. The interior of the body is still in need or restoration. the dash was stripped and primed inside. Under the cowl is super clean. The underbody around the floor pans has not been painted but has been mostly sanded clean. I believe a RH rear fender was replaced or worked at one time due to “new” looking exposed metal in the inner wheel well. I would be glad to answer any questions if I can. Other pics also availible. Feel free to ask. Car is also availible for personal inspection in my shop Thanks!”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $1850
(04/02/2010) It appears pretty stock.
“Runs and drives, it can be seen at 4011 N. Dort Hwy Flint MI 48506 or call (810)-234-6850”
UPDATE: This was a great price at $2000. It appears sold.
Brett spotted this one. With the plow setup and some good looking tires, this looks like a good price. The body doesn’t look all that bad to me.
“This is a 1942 Willey’s Jeep. It runs great and has the original drive train. It has not been licensed since about 1964. It has been used to plow my driveway, so it runs between 4 and 15 times a year. It has been serviced every year. The body is in pretty rough shape but is fixable for the right person. It comes with a 7′ snow plow and I don’t want to take it off.”
I can’t say I’ve been in a Willys Wagon for 400 miles at a time, but I do imagine that what the woman is trying to say is that it seemed more like 1400 miles than 400 miles ….
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
The auction expired before it reached its reserve. Bidding hit a high of $50,300.
“This truck was built for the 343 fire fighters that lost their lives on the tragic day of 9/11. This truck has been used in shows so we would never forget that day. I can’t list all the shows this truck has won 1st place in, however, here’s some of them: Concours Delegance, Good Guys, Grand Nationals Roadster Show, Coastline Car Classic, and many, many more. I’ll take a photo of all the trophies if you like (enough to fill up an entire room). The firetruck came from Cooperstown, New York as a mini-pumper firetruck. It was recreated as a woody. This truck has been such a blessing, it puts a smile on all the people’s faces. The truck has 13,000 original miles on all the original running gear. The motor, transmission, front end, and rear end has never been taken apart. It’s been professionally cleaned and repainted. It has 1,500 miles on the brakes, wheel cylinder, master cylinder, tires, hoses, and seals. The wiring harness is all original and is in excellent condition. It’s been changed over to 12 Volts. Everything works but the fuel gauge (needs a diode). The reason I’m selling this truck is because it needs to be seen and not stored. This would make a very nice museum piece that people could appreciate. A part of the proceeds from this auction will go to the Rolling Memorial for Fallen Firefighters and a percentage will be automatically donated.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000
It doesn’t have the original drive train, but still cool.
“THIS IS FOR A REAL NEAT 4X4 IT IS RIGHT HAND STEERING. IT IS PAINTE O D GREEN. ENGINE AND TRANS HAS BEEN SWAPED FOR A PINTO SETUP BUT IS STILL 4 WHEEL DRIVE.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000
(04/07/2009) The seller has some inaccurate info here. I can safely say this is a VEEP and that it wasn’t a 1943 model. And while Costa Mesa (where Hadley was located) is pretty far West, it isn’t quite so far west as the Phillipines.
“1943 Model Willies Jeep Built New In The Philippines In 1980 on A Stock Volkswagen Drive Train. 1600cc Motor, with an original WW2 Utility Trailer. I also have two WW2 combat helmets that i will include. This is not a vw conversion. This is the way it came stock from the factory”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $5000
(04/12/2010) This looks great. I have to say I expected a a little more modern engine.
“1948 Jeep willys, 4×4, 4 cyls, very clean, no oil leaks, no rust, clutch, original motor & trans, new tires and rims, have windshield, everything works, $5,500 OBO call (619)267-6629 or (619) 204-5122 after 4pm

(04/14/2010) “Runs great! all orginal vin# plates & have title, must see to adore!! i always wanted one, but times are getting tough!! must sell now!!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** $10,500
(04/17/2010) It’s a nicely maintained old Jeep. The underneath of the body looks great!
“This Vehicle was owned by an older Gentleman for the last 24 years, It looks to be meticulously well maintained and cosmetically redone on the body . The paint appears to be new at some time before i got it , I waxed it and it was the first time anyone had ever waxed it, not that it was neglected I think he just did not get too it before he passed away. This jeep was always stored in a garage and covered before I bought it. Also the interior seats were recovered in a tan vynle , note I did see one small 1/4 inch tear repair on drivers seat looks like a good repair, also the rollbar is upgraded to around 3″ version with a new black bikini half top, The electrical system was also converted 12 volt with a one wire alternator , with new taillights and marker reflectors . Front bumper looks new with a new brush guard with accessories running lights and brackets for the tow bar that bolts to it, also new headlights with chrome rings and screen guards also stainless grill screen guard. All the gauges fuel temp amps and oil are new ,original speedo The original wipers are not hooked up or on . I was told they weren’t working but go with vehicle. New Goodyear Wrangler tires and white spoke rims .The body by my inspection does not appear to have any rust or ever had any rust repairs that I can see from inspecting from looking underneath the body. This Willys starts and runs excellant runs real quiet cruises nice at 55 -60 mph also has a tachometer. Has all dash 4×4 stickers and plates . The motor runs strong and does not emit any smoke upon starting or driving. The trans is very tight and does not grind or howl when shifting or driving. overall This jeep to Me seem real nice driver. The brake system has also been upgrade with a power booster assist witch is mounted on the drivers inner fender in engine bay. and seatbelts were installed front and rear.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $1850. As Brett and JR note below, the battery box suggests the body is from a M-38. I lighted up the passenger side image using photoshop, but couldn’t spot any tool indents. I also tried lightening up the rear facing image, but couldn’t learn anything about the dashboard.
(10/01/2009) “1947 willys CJ2A jeep. Vehicle has been stored for past several years. New battery, wheel cylinders, and fuel pump. Engine runs and is drivable but not road worthy as yet. Has tow bar, PTO winch and trailer hitch. Engine and frame is civilian and the body is a used military replacement. No major rust, seats are in good condition.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.
It looks good. The OD doesn’t always engage.
“1949 Willys Overland Jeepster Convertable. Painted w/in the last 5 years. 4 cylinder 134″ flathead engine rebuilt about 2 years ago. Top is in great condition. Kingpins replaced recently. Overdrive does not engage, but could be fixed and has worked previously. Family owned vehicle for over 40 years. Tires are fresh. Can email you more pics.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2200
This runs and includes an Overdrive. It still needs some work.
“’54 Jeep. small block chevy it RUNS!!!, 3sp w/overdrive, 538 gears, 32 inch tires. minimul rust (I have fixed most of it and have floors and working on the rest. Intsalling new gas tank and fuel lines and seats and should be done with those soon. Its drivable now, but needs a few thing finished and I am working on them. I got this from the original owner. I listed it a few months ago whwn it was not running ans was rusty….now it is MUCH better!!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1800.
Despite the paint job, this looks like a great price on a running CJ-3B.
“I have a 1954 willys cj3b jeep up for sale. The jeep is all original except the tires, bucket seats, roll bar and a few other little things. She starts runs and drives everytime, nevery have had any problems. It has the original 4 cylinder motor along with 3 speed tranny with the high and low.
