Overland Train North Pole, Ak **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Features, Unusual This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $15,000.

Mark spotted this unusual find when it was still available early on Sunday.  However, it sold during the course of the day for $15,000.  I’d love to know where it lands as it is something very unusual and rather fantastical.

“In 1962, the Army tested a machine known as The Overland Train at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. It was designed to carry equipment and supplies over both on- and off-road terrains. The train consisted of the control car, ten self tracking cargo cars, and two power generating cars. It was 565 feet long and could haul 150 tons of cargo. The control car also contained living quarters for a crew of six, complete with sleeping, eating and sanitation facilities.

The enclosed pictures are of a sister unit here in Alaska. It’s important to note this is one of the last existing units of this type anywhere. This unit consists of the control car and 3 trailers (mostly aluminum). All the units have tires and we also have a large amount of extra tires & wheels. This unit does not run and is not operable however according to Le Tourneau, the manufacturer most if not all parts are still available and or re-buildable. Would also make a terrific static display for museum. This unit is for sale as is FOB North Pole, Alaska, to the highest bidder above the reserve set by the estate.”

1946 CJ-2A Brookville, In **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2800.

“This is a 1946 Willys flat fender Jeep. If you are looking for originality then you should probably stop reading. This does not have the original engine, seats, windshiels, top etc. If you are looking for a really fun toy that is dependable and goes ANYWHERE this might be your Willys. It starts with the first turn of the key and runs very well. the transfer case works as it should and this thing is unstopable if you like to 4×4. It is a great farm vehicle as well. It has a PTO out the back and there are all kinds of attachments you can find to play with. I have seen these with all kinds of PTO attachments.  As far a dependability and running wise it is in great shape. The steering is a bit sloppy and I was going to attend to it but I have decided to sell it. It does not have a title but I understand it is not hard to get one in Indiana and I might be able to help with that. I have a new fishing boat comming and I need to sell quickly.”

1947 CJ-2A Ridgway, Co **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.

This CJ-2A was listed on eBay for $1200 (also listed on craigslist for the same amount).  No bids were made.  Bidding ended on April 13, 2010.  However, it looks like a decent price to me. It is a complete jeep with a PTO winch, a top, and a cj-3a windshield with good glass.

“1947 Willy’s CJ-2A with Hardtop and doors. It has a F-Head motor with a 3 speed manual transmission and a CJ-3A windshield. I bought this for $1500 almost 5 years ago. It started right up and drove until I brought it home which is right around 9,000′. I could not get it started and since it has just been sitting in the driveway. I had the starter rebuilt at the cost of $189.81 with a receipt to show. At the moment the battery is dead and the carb. needs rebuilt or replaced. My plan was to upgrade the ignition and put on a new carb. This is a good old flatfender  that just needs a little time and money. There is a swing away tire carrier with 2 jerry can holders.”

It took a decade, but George saves a Willys Wagon

• CATEGORIES: Builds This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Every now and then a reader sends me a picture of an old willys they want to buy and asks my opinion.  Had George sent me a picture of the Wagon he purchased years ago, I would have said, “I think we can find you something else”.

However, George wasn’t swayed by his purchase and spent about a decade raising kids, working, and using his extra time to slowly save his Willys.

George writes, “My wife tells me I have Willys on the brain – hey what can I say!  This Wagon is all original with the exception of possibly some extra chrome on the grill. The grill inserts were chrome plated when I purchased the wagon, so I figured I would put it back like I found it. Everything was rebuilt, including the front and rear ends. I wish now that I would have changed the gearing a bit. I think it is a 5.38:1. This thing has a mean granny gear! Once I get all the small oil leaks fixed I’ll invest in OD.”

He has every right to be proud of his efforts, because out of an awkward, rough wagon he built a beauty.  For his next project, George is looking for a deal on a solid 1953 CJ-3A. If you know of one in the Texas area, let him know!

Nice work George and thanks for sharing your story and pics!  Here is a before and an after pic:
