“Restored 1947 Willys CJ2A Jeep. Approximately 50 miles on overhauled original flathead 4 cylinder engine. Lock-out hubs, high/low 4-wheel drive, aluminum factory top, original 16 inch rims.”
It’s not perfectly stock, but appears in good shape from the pics.
“Rare 1946 Wiilys Jeep, CJ2A, with shift on the steering column. Runs good and is a great restoration project for someone who wants to own a piece of history. Front wheel lockout hubs. Tow bar for taking it out to the trails for a lot of fun. Check the pictures out to see what it looks like. More pictures available via email. The price is firm.”
The seller notes this “Just needs minor finish work”!?! At least the winch looks valuable. This was for sale back in April, 2009, though at that time it had no motor or tranny.
“1948 cj2a willys jeep with 83 ford 4 cly motor runs good, 6000# winch , just needs some minor finish work asking $1,600. Can be seen at 22330 willamina creek road in willamina.”
This might be a good price, especially if you already have an extra radiator.
“1957 4 X 4 Willys Jeep pickup, straight 6 cylinder engine. This would be a great restoration vehicle, lots of parts available. The engine starts and runs; it does need a new radiator. I bought it for a desert runner, however, I found a CJ2A don’t need both. $600.00 . Will trade for a trailer big enough for a Jeep CJ. I can be contacted on my cell 602-321-4379, the vehicle is located near Gilbert and Broadway in Mesa.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
Here’s a nicely done restoration using a S-10 Chassis. Also interesting is the effect of painting the tines of the grille a different color from the body paint.
“You are looking at an excellent example of old looks and new drivability. A 1955 Jeep Pick Up on an S-10 4X4 chassis. This can be used as a daily driver, then tak it to shows and come home with a trophy. The Willys can be driven anywhere, so fly in and drive her home. 4.3 Chevy V6 with throttle body FI. 5 Speed tranny for good gas mileage. 15 American Racing wheels. The truck need nothing to run her down the road. No titles in Maine so bill of sale and transfer Maine Registration. May end at any time.”
UPDATE: Was $2500. **SOLD**
(07/17/2010) Looks like a reasonable price.
“1951 Willys Jeep $ 2,500.00. I think its a CJ3A. Runs and drives. New tires, clutch, & master cyl. Needs TLC.”
Well, it might be more marketing than history, but it’s interesting none-the-less. Here’s a look at the early toyota AK-10 & BJ.
While looking for a clean example of the Willys Overland script, I came across an auto-created page, a page of complete jibberish that attempts to make the owner money by getting hits and advertising google and craigslist ads (therefore, I won’t provide a link). However, on this same page I found this odd CJ-5. It looks like the picture is somewhere in southern Utah. Anyone seen this elsewhere?

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is rough, but it has both a PTO Winch and Newgren Hitch.
“You are bidding on a early model Jeep FC 150 parts truck that has a Newgren Company 3 pt. hitch. Model #BL 4770. The truck also has a Ramsey bed mounted PTO Winch set up with the pto and lever still installed, including chains to the sprockets. The truck had this rare combination installed when bought and was used on a farm. At one point the Jeep had motor trouble, and the truck was left sitting. The Newgren hitch is still installed and the truck would work great as a “library vehicle” to see how to install it onto your Willys CJ2A, CJ3, FC150, FC170 ,or CJ3B. The hitch is in rough condition, but the basic parts are there to use, refurbish, or use as a pattern. The original hydraulic ram and pump were were not installed on the truck when I purchased the Jeep. You can use a 12 volt pump and ram from Northern Tool, Grainger, etc. to power the hitch or look for an original. Some folks have also used the snow plow hydraulic pumps from Willys vehicles that are a little more common.
Please look at the photos carefully (the red cj2a is NOT INCLUDED!) You are getting a good starting point for an ultra rare 3 pt. hitch setup for a Willys Jeep. The condition is such that you will need to rebuild, refurbish, and add/replace parts. You also get a pto winch with the attachments to bed mount it, the pto attached to the transfer case and the control lever. The rest of the truck is included, but would only be good for some parts. The truck is rolling on its own and I can help load on a trailer.
To aid you with restoration, FARMJEEP>COM has an extensive write up on the restoration, installation, and additional parts sourcing of a very similar hitch. Please look at theses pictures closely. The condition requires work, but could add remendous value to your Willys or Jeep when installed and refurbished. Still has the original Newgren Comapny tag.”
Appears very nice!
“YOU NEED TO SEE THIS ONE!! California truck with 18,000 actual miles. Completely restored…. won’t last long guys! If these photos dont show I will send some. ”
UPDATE: I don’t know if this sold or not.
Here’s a very nicely restored CJ-5 just up the road from me.
“Body off restoration, epoxy primered all parts, 5 coats urethane paint (Omaha Orange). All excellent. When I purchased this vehicle it had 32k miles on it. It now shows 117 miles due to new Speedo cluster. Many new parts: New radiator, water pump, hoses and belts. Fuel system, charging system. Hi torque starter. New clutch, rebuilt transmission and T case with new emergency brake assembly and cable. T case, Tranny and axles filled with synthetic 70-90 gear lube. Complete exhaust system. (5) Toyo tires mounted on chrome wheels. New tinted windshield with 2 electric wipers. Engine is original (F134) and runs excellent. The body is original, and rust free. The following items are currently not installed on vehicle; Heater (needs new core, have all sheet metal parts but needs 3 new cable controls). Horn (haven’t been able to locate a stock horn). Wiring and relay are installed. 2 Doors and hardware (I have and go with vehicle.)” Many extra spare parts in boxes go with vehicle. This is a great driving/reliable jeep with original engine, transmission, T- case, axles, suspension and gearing.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $17,500

(08/03/2010) This would make a fun restore if the old panel art work could be saved. Maritime Hardware.
“I PURCHASED TWO 1956 WILLYS PANEL DELIVERY TRUCKS FROM A PRIVATE OWNER IN NEW JERSEY, BOTH VEHICLES CAME OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE ONE AFTER THE OTHER ONLY 786 WERE MADE. I AM DOING A FRAME UP TOTAL RESTORATION ON ONE, AND I AM SELLING THE OTHER ONE, THESE VEHICLES ARE EXTREMELY RARE IN THIS CONDITION, YES THERE IS SOME LOWER BODY RUST, BUT THE MAIN BODY, THE FRAME, ORIGINAL MOTOR (SUPER HURRICAINE 6 CYLINDER) DRIVE TRANE, AND TRANSMISSION ARE COMPLEATLY INTACT. ALL INTERIOR GUAGES ARE ORIGINAL AND ARE IN GREAT SHAPE, THERE IS ONE DOUBLE SEAT (DRIVERS SIDE) THE RUST IS CONTAINED ONLY TO THE WHEEL WELLS, AND MOSTLY THE LOWER PARTS OF THE TRUCK, BUT THE PARTS TO FIX ARE EASILY AVAILABLE AS I HAVE REPLACED THEM ON THE OTHER VEHICLE ALREADY, THE FRAME IS PERFECT, NO RUST. YOU CAN SEE MY VEHICLE DURING ITS CURRENT RESTORATION BECAUSE BOTH VEHICLES ARE AT THE SAME GARAGE. CLEAR TITLE AND VIN GO ALONG WITH IT”
I was looking up something for a reader when I stumbled upon these two webpages. One page documents some of the differences between very early MBs and later ones. The second page provides detail pics of a British Airborne Slatgrille in Signal Configuration. I thought both pages have nice detail pics and explanations.
