I really haven’t done a great deal of research into the best sites for parts restoration. However, while looking for something else today (do I use that phrase a lot?) I discovered Classic Enterprises Restoration. Specifically, they had a nice, easy to scroll list of restoration panels for Willys and Jeeps of all types.

1948 CJ-2A Blue Springs, MO **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
If the body parts are as good as advertised, this might not be a bad price.
“1948 CJ2A Clear title. I bought this in May 2010 with thoughts about a project but have decided I will never get the time . Motor turns over freely and have got it to fire but have not had it running. Jeep is complete otherwise. Body, grill, hood, and passenger front fender are replacements and are in very good condition. Driver front fender, tailgate, and windsheild frame are original. Tailgate is pretty good but windshield frame is fair. Comes with 9 tires and wheels. 4 wheels are like new with execellent millitary tires. I also have a spare T-90 transmisson, head, original hood, new tailgate. Various other parts. needs brake work. ”
1946 CJ-2A Chatham, Nj eBay
The seller is pretty accurate about the bad mods. Also note the welds and patches on the front rails of the frame.
“Rare early CJ2A Good Restoration Candidate. I recently came across this running, drivable early CJ2A as part of a package deal for a few jeeps I bought. The serial number is 48165 which puts it in the middle of 1946 after the switch from column shifts back to shifter on the floor.
This jeep has served as a gas station plow jeep for the past forty years. It starts right up and runs well, shifts fine and remarkably the brakes work. It appears that new leaf springs were put on it sometime ago. The engine appears to be the original CJ block with an MB head on it. It runs smooth with no smoke or strange noises. Valve tappets are a little noisy like most flathead engines are. Drivetrain appears to be original including the 16 inch wheels.Unfortunately Bubba got his hands this jeep so the following things will need attention as it is restored:
The plow rig has damaged the front frame horns – they have been rewelded, but not a pretty sight ….”
1964 CJ-5 Puyallup, Wa $2700

1950 CJ-3A Oklahoma City, Ok **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500
(08/18/2010) It’s got most of the parts according to the seller …
“I have for sale a 50 Willys CJ3A Jeep project. Most of the parts are there. It is however missing the seats, gas tank and gauges. I do have the original transmission and transfer case. There are some new parts that are included with it. It does have a windshield frame but it is not the correct for the year. The body is in very good shape. The drivers floor pan needs to be replaced as it has already been cut out. I have not done anything to it since I purchased it a few months ago. The previous owner had rebuilt the front axle and upgraded it to the larger drum brakes. Also included with it is a Buick Oddfire 225 V6 from a later CJ5. It turns over and has good compression. I do have the aluminum bell housing, flywheel and starter for it as well. I was told it was a good running engine. All that is needed to put it in the Jeep is the adapter to mate the T90 tranny to the bell housing. I do not have a title for it as this is how I purchased it. Was going to make it an off road toy. I would trade for an old motorcycle preferably something unique or an old vw. Drop me a line if you have questions or offers. I am asking $500 obo. Thanks for looking.”
A Jeep for the Grandkids
Colin contacted me a few days ago. As a tech article writer for the Willys Overland Jeepster Club site, a restorer and owner of multiple willys, and, as you can see below, a very creative guy, Colin has a wide range of Willys experiences.
He’s been kind enough to share images and information from both his restorations and a friend’s as well. I’ll be publishing them over the next week. Tonight I thought I’d share this unusual project. Thanks Colin!
Colin writes, “Here are some photos of a little Jeep I built for my middle son and grandkids. It is a 1/2 scale Bemak 1941 Willys MB Slat Grille body mounted on a 1980 John Deere 111 lawn tractor chassis and powerplant. It has an 11 hp Briggs and Stratton engine with 5 speed manual transmission. I had to do a little cutting on the body to get it to fit the chassis, but most everything worked out pretty easily.
It has a 12volt electrical system with working headlights from Harbor Freight, WW II blackout lights for the front parking lights, and a WW II blackout lens with red LED for the taillight, a Harbor Freight 2000lb winch and a trailer hitch and receiver on the rear. I fabricated the front and rear bumpers to match the Willys stuff. I used EZ Go golf cart front hubs to get 4 bolt pattern for the Harbor Freight wheels and tires. I modified the rear axles to accept the 4 bolt wheels. I mounted a spare tire on the rear and fabricated a “jerry can” mount for the 1.5 gallon jerry can that is the fuel tank. I used the old clutch and brake pedals from the CJ3A and fabricated the shift linkage for the 5 speed transmission. The seat is a 1950s Willys station wagon driver’s side seat that I modified to do a double fold forward, where it covers the 12 volt battery. The windshield has Lexan inserted and a buddy made me a to scale WW II rifle mount for the back of the windshield. He also has restored WW II Jeeps, one MB that he just sold and the other is a 1944 Ford GPW US Navy Jeep. I painted it in WW II US Navy paint scheme, as our son is retired USN.”

“Willys Jeep, runs great, 4×4 works awesome, good tires. This is the perfect jeep for the upcoming deer hunt, as it is small and can get to many places to pull your prize out of the woods. May be willing to trade for truck, motorcycle, 4 wheeler, etc. Please don’t call asking if I would like to trade for a collection of “Star wars DVD’S or anything else like the DVDS!”
Year CJ-5 Menasha, Wi $1200
This runs and drives, but needs some work. The body is fiberglass.
“I bought this Jeep as a project about 2 years ago. I just don’t have the time or the money to put into it right now. The entire drive train and frame are original but the tub has been replaced with a fiberglass one. The original frame numbers are gone; there is an engine number but it’s too faded to make out which is why I can only narrow it down to a 55′-65′ CJ-5. It has a 134ci “Hurricane” F-head which runs and drives well. It also has dana 44 axles with 5.38 gears. What it needs: a new gas tank, the old one was too rusted away to salvage luckily this is only $100 from JC Whitney. A carburetor rebuild, kit is $8 if you can do it yourself, only $134 for new carburetor. And lastly the brakes need to be replaced. The catch is that I do not have a title for it. I bought it from a farmer who only used it on his land for the last 20 years and he bought it from a guy who also didn’t have the title. It can easily be retitled with a hobbyist plate, it involves a little more work but would be worth it. I haven’t titled it because it has just been a project thus far.”
1948 CJ-2A Altamont, Ut $995
Brett found this jeep with no drive train, but some tires with plenty of tread left.
“new rubber no power train”
