A Short Weekend Trip along the West Coast of South Africa
Claus reports that he and some friends enjoyed a short vacation recently and has some pics to share with us!
Claus writes, “We have finally done a short weekend trip up the West Coast of SA. Nothing hectic just 6 jeeps and 3 trailers going on a stroll. The route all together was about 220km, but it was just fun enjoy the ride and in the evening sitting around a camp fire and enjoying all jeep talk. Just therapeutic for the owners”
I asked Claus about the unusual stonework for the fireplace. He informed me that, “The fireplace is built like that so it allows many people to “braai”. In the centre you make the big fire and then people can sit around it and scrape the hot coals from the centre out to the sides where you can braai or bbq your meat. So you always have a big fire in the middle so it continuously burns and provides hot coals. They don’t all look like that here. The camp site serves 6 tents so you can just all gather around one fireplace and be social.” Learn about Braai here.

1946 CJ-2A Seymour, In $9000
The seller believes this is 90% complete.
“For Sale or Possible Trade:
This is a 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep. I’ve been renovating it for about 6 years now. It has a new metal body tub and various other new body parts. I have invested about $9500 in parts, paint, rhino lining, and labor but would take any reasonable offer. Ideally, I would like to work out a trade plus cash. I need a small cargo/work van. An Astro cargo van (like an ex-utility van) would be perfect. An AWD or 4×4 van would be even better but are hard to come by. It needs to be interstate worthy because I will be putting lots of miles on it. Age and mileage don’t matter as long has it still has a lot of life left in it. Small, step vans like the old Chevy P-10 would work too if road worthy. I would also consider some small trucks. The vehicle needs to ultimately take me to Montana.
The 46 Willys is a low geared, 4×4, original flat head 4 banger, stick shift 3 speed. It is a 12v and has always been pretty much mechanically sound. Top speed is 50-55mph. It can climb paved steep inclines in third gear with no problem and can get about anywhere on other terrain. It is perfect for the farm or ranch and does well on the state highways, back country roads, hunting trails, and open fields. It is too slow for the interstate. Though it is very nice, I wanted to be able to drive it on the road so I installed an additional brake light and turn signals ( not standard for the 46). I was going to have a soft half cab made for it, but didn’t have the chance. If I wasn’t so busy I would never let it go. I would say that it is 90 percent complete. No heaters that year and no windshield wiper/s, but can be purchased. Parts are pretty easily found on the internet.. Like to see a jeep enthusiast, mechanically minded person get this little Willys. I could have saved a wad if I could’ve done some of the work myself. It gets attention no matter where you go.
Best to reach me at: klarrison2504@gmail.com (thats my facebook addy) or call my diner 812-522-5523, between 7am and 2:30pm, Monday thru Thursday. Fridays till 7:30pm.”

1946 CJ-2A Auburn, CA **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $750.
There may be some value here.
“This jeep proudly and unselfishly gave it’s heart to keep a nice old army jeep alive a little longer. Now I have the complete body and frame with a rear bed full of spare parts. The tires are brand new with just a couple of miles on them to drive it here for surgery. There is a f-head 134 four cylinder engine that goes with this project. I have the radiator, an extra hood, basically every thing to complete it. I do not have a title for it, so bill of sale – parts only- kind of thing. I am told it has the ID number still plated on the frame. There is a roll bar, diamond plate corners, diamond plate “running boards” that reinforce the fender and lower tub. Windshield needs glass. Seats are faded, but useable for awhile longer. I may have extra axles, etc . also. Calls only please. I am still getting spam from the last time I replied to an ad with my email address.”

1949 CJ-3A Toronto, Wv $1000
Lots of rust here. I’m gonna guess this is a CJ-3A only based on the windshield (but that’s hardly conclusive).
“I have what “experts” have told me is a 1949 Willys CJ-2A. This thing is in rough shape. It was my grandfathers, one of those projects we would get to next summer, if you know what I mean. He left it to me and it’s sat in my garage for a couple years now. I lack the money and the experience to complete this project on my own, and I have finally brought myself to part with it. The engine starts, but won’t idle properly and the body is shot to hell. The tranny is solid as is the frame. The pictures show it without the top or the hood, both of which go with it. You can see the overall condition from the pictures below. There’s a lot of rust, all but one tire is dry rotted (though the spare looks passable). This is a fixer-upper, don’t expect to drive it out of here. The buyer must arrange for transportation.
Email me or text/call 740-317-7020. Leave a message with your number if you don’t get an answer. Feel free to ask any questions or request specific pics. $1000 OBO”
