Paul spotted this strange creature. It wasn’t until I saw the last picture that I discovered it was a Tundra Truck.
Paul writes, “The Goddess and I went out to eat yesterday evening (it was another one of those all you can eat and keep down places) and while walking across the parking lot I saw a modified Toyota extended cab pickup truck. This truck had California plates on it so I guess the driver had a bit of bad luck on the drive north because the damage to the body was substantial. Along with every sheet metal panel being dented, yards of tape were used to keep the headlights from falling out, the windshield and hood were missing and actually the entire top had been cut off so there were goggles hanging in the cab for the driver and passengers use. A small rear view mirror was attached to the steering column but the best touch was a bible resting on the transmission hump [editors note: If i were driving this, I might want a bible nearby, too].”

“i have a 1948 jeep willys cj2a all original for sale or trade, it has a low mile 4 cylinder engine that runs great, it is a 3 speed manual trans, 4×4 which works good, does have some rust but very straight for its age, this jeep does run and drive but needs a float for the carb and brake work easy fix, i have the window frame with good glass and the rollbar, also have the metal frame for the soft top and soft doors”

“1949 Willys cj3a jeep TUB has been rebuilt little surface rust, new box tubing in place of old channel iron and a lot of new steel, tool box on passenger side still there and not rusted out $500 includes windshield frame, hood, grill, tailgate, and roll bar. I need it all gone. Jeep project that I don’t have time to finish. . There are a lot of little things that go with this jeep. (06/15/2010) This jeep has seen a few updates.
“1942 Willys off-road jeep. It was converted 3 yrs ago to a Chevy 4.3L V-6, Ford T-18 transmission with sought after 6.32-1 granny gear and Dana 18 transfer case. Axles are a 3/4 ton Dana 44 front with detroit locker and a Dana 60 rear. They have both been completely rebuilt and narrowed with Moser axles and bearings, Heavy duty Tom Woods drive shafts front and rear with a CV style u-joint on rear. This is one of few Willys Jeeps that have been converted to coil spring with front and rear triangulated suspension. It has a awesome, smoothe off road ride with incredible articulation with no bindage. It has dual exhaust, edelbrock carb, power steering, 33” Thornbirds, hydraulic clutch, and a large marine battery. Has a massive 200 amp alternator to run 1000 watts of lights and a Warn 9000 winch with a removable cradle to plug in front and rear. The entire drive line since new only has a couple thousand miles on it and has never been street legal or taken to the beach. This Jeep has only been used in the Winter on a 200 acre deer lease for the past few years and stored inside during the summer. I’m no longer paying the high prices for deer leases and decided to sell my Willy and buy a street legal CJ7. Im firm on the 7000 and if it doesn’t sell, I’ll just convert it to street legal. “Daily driver with original four cylinder engine. Body is in good condition for being 64 years old. Could use some work on the rear corners and a paint job. Windshield levers out and the front hardware has all been replaced. I have too many Jeeps and need to let this one go so I have room for the others. Yesterday morning I received a question from a reader regarding where to purchase top bows for a CJ-2A (they had checked with topbows.com and found they weren’t in business).
Unfortunately, I can’t find that email (please re-email me if it is you) — it is possible I accidentally deleted the email as I’m still getting used to my new android phone. Why I’m perfectly capable with a computer and perfectly in-capable with a phone still confuses me ….
Since I don’t know of anyone that sells top bows, I did some searches on CJ-2A Top Bows, but had no luck.
Then I remember that Beachwood Canvas carried various top-related items. After a quick tour of their site, I found they sell a complete set or just the front set. You can follow this link https://www.beachwoodcanvas.com/order/productlist.cfm
Then, select CJ-2A from the drop down list of Vehicle types & Group 18: Body, Body Parts and Kits. Finally, enter the search term ‘bows’. Bows are $195 for the front set and $350 for an entire set.

(05/24/2010) Brett spotted this nicely restored CJ-6 with a unique looking paint job.
“Up for sale is a RARE 1959 CJ-6. This vehicle has been restored and has no rust. It is painted and marked in air force Blue. It has a 289 V8 motor. It runs and drives well. New gas tank. This jeep also has the rare Hard top. The person I bought it from clamed it was a Flight Line jeep. I have no documation on this. This is a must see if you are looking for a CJ-6. $6500.00 or best offer.”

(12/26/09) This build looks interesting as it has some unique touches. The top is certainly unusual and is probably a relief on hot summer days. I’d like to get some more detail pics of this one.
“This jeep has given us much fun on off-roads and hunting trips. It hasn’t been driven on the highway since we have owned it. We trailer it to and from the mountains. We purchased it from the original owner, who bought it new in 1946 and has since passed on. We have made a lot of changes since we’ve owned it. These changes include diamond plate on part of the body, and we Rhino-lined the rest of the outside body, (has a small crack in Rhino-line on hood). Includes a wider wind shield than original. (see pictures) It has a removable vinyl top that converts easily into a bikini top. Zip-off side windows can be attached to the top. Removable vinyl covered half doors. Full front bench seat with saddle blanket seat cover and shoulder-strap seat belts. CB Radio with antennae, cassette/radio player and speakers. Tilt steering wheel. Oil, temp and volt gauges but no speedometer. Roll Cage. Gun rack above windshield inside holds 1 gun. Front and rear heaters. 12 Volt system with new battery. Front wiper on driver side. Auxillary front lights. Power Steering. Front-end has a little play in steering. Buick V-6 motor with electric fan and dual exhaust. 3 Speed manual transmission. M-M front outside locking hubs, hi-lo 4×4 levers inside. Front Disc Brakes. Rear Drum Brakes. Front and rear shocks. Mag Wheels with Wild Country Radials ATV 32×11.50 R15 LT Tires. Spare tire on back rack. Cooler rack on back also. Ten gallon gas tank and extra 5 gallon gas can in carrier on back.”

“1945 CJ2A. It is the #277 making it the 277 civilian jeep ever built. It starts, runs and drives. It shifts just fine and the transfer case works fine as does the 4 wheel drive. The drive train is complete and original. The brakes don’t work, most of the gages don’t work, the lights don’t work, there is no parking brake handle. It still has the 6 volt system but when I was driving it I believe it was running just off the battery. The motor sounds good but smokes at times but then it hasn’t been run for many years until recently and then only for a hour or so. It has a MB engine in it. It may be the original engine and then again it might not as they were making these side by side the WWII jeeps when this was made during the last part of the war. It has the front frame cover, original metal spoke steering wheel, original early parking lights and the very very early square washer windshield. Of course it is the early colum shift as well. This jeep is going to need repairs and parts to get it on the road and alot of work if your looking to restore it to 100% original, which I hope you will. The body while not bad is not as good as the pictures make it look. There is alot of amature body work on it. Fine if you just want to make it road worthy, but if restoring it you’ll have some work to do. you some. As you can see there is no gas tank, no seats and no tailgate. I had picked up many of the parts to restore this over the years but I’m not including them in the sale of the jeep, however they are available after if you need them. ”
