Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1946 Willy’s Jeep, Super Hurricane 6 Cyl. Manual tranny. Seats are newly re upohlstered, have bikini top and roll bar. I have all the parts,runs but needs some assembly. Good condition. “It is a 1962 Jeep Willys DJ-3A one of about 2500 made that year. It was originaly a little Island touring truck that the hotels would use to take guest around. Its in good running order, looks ok. It does need a paint job and a little body work. Price is negotiable. I am leaving the Island soon so it needs to sell. attached is a pic of what it could be. right now it is flat black.”

He writes, “this jeep comes with a strong f-head motor, a T-90 tranny and upgraded Dana 20 transfercase. In the rear is an AMC 20 rear axle and in the front is a Dana 30 front axle with disk brakes. (09/29/2010) I can’t tell much about it from the pics. It appears pretty stock.
“The jeep is in fairly good condition i cleaned it up a lot with the power washer. Needs a battery and tune up and should start rite up, it was running last time it was parked but was sitting in a shed for a couple years. It still uses a 6v battery. I was in the process of restoration but i just dont have the time and money to do it. Is a great restoration vehicle for someone thats not in tobad of shape. It still has the winch on the vehicle and i have the door pieces and other bars that came with it. I also have the original title for the jeep.”

1952 Jeep Willy CJ3 4×4 straight 4 cylinder. Runs great, current registration. Needs paint and perhaps a little tlc but also is very useable as is! These pictures aren’t the best, it’s in my garage out of the weather. No hard top, tires need air only. Best offer takes it away.”

“1948 Willys CJ2A. Looks and runs great. Four wheel drive works. Original engine replaced with a 350 (Novak conversion). All terrain 31 inch tires on chrome wheels. Roll bar. Gas tank enlarged and moved from under the seat to behind the rear axle. Aftermarket bumpers on front and rear. Sprayed in liner. Newer, more comfortable, seats. Although not in the pictures, there is a Tigertop soft top currently on the Willys. Current tag and inspection. Title in my name. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer CJ2A than this. I prefer to sell the Willys, but would consider a trade for a four wheel drive ATV 500cc or bigger.”
I think this looks pretty good considering it has been sitting 10 years (or more); however, I’m sure it doesn’t look $2500 good.

Mice have chewed the tires, engine has/had a knock.
“1946 willys jeep. Have had it for probly 20 years, used it to plow my driveway untill about 5 years ago when i got a new plow truck. Ran when i parked it but had a little knock. Mice have since chewed a few wires i think. Sold the plow off it. Good winter project. Has a PTO on back. MAKE AN OFFER. Trades?”
This needs work, but it isn’t a bad price.

It is a project.
“I have a project I can’t finish and need to let go. It is a 56 Willys DJ3a with a good title. It looks like a 3A with out a tail gate. It has a complete body the tub needs a little work mostly front floors. It has a good windshield. The frame is mostly boxed with the spring hangers cut off at the moment. The front axle is a disc brake dana 30 from a 79 cj w/ 3:73 gears, the rear is the offset 44 it is torn down and has some of the parts for a full float disc set up, It has a dana 18 transfercase. I’m asking $500.00 for what I have come take a look or make offers on what you are interested in. I’m open to trades let me know what you have. I’m into most outdoors stuff and am working on a Scout 80 also.”
